In light of EMH changes...

Which onsite perk would you prefer?

  • Keep same amount of EMH as now...no reduction.

  • Reduce EMH, but allow 4 preselected FP+ per day

  • Eliminate EMH, but allow 5 preselected FP+ per day

  • Reduce or eliminate EMH, but no tiering restrictions for FP+.

Sorry. Then the poll is pointless.
I would vote for a write-in choice which is just as fictitious.
"No EMH for anyone else. But my family gets in early and can do whatever we want for 2 hours."

Are you secretly Tom Cruise? :) You appear way smarter than him, but you never know.

Man, I voted too soon. Drat!

I would rather have 2 hours at night of running between MK attractions! I loved staying until midnight/1am. Crowds bottom out and the park looks amazing at night.

We were at an EMH in the MK last summer. As the EMH ended at 1 AM there was still a 2 hour wait for Space Mountain.

The truth is that PM EMH can be great. Or not. It is very hit or miss. Especially now that it is 2 hours instead of 3. What they really did was lop off the best, least crowded hour.

Looks like the poll is overwhelmingly in favor of keeping EMH. I have to admit, I'm a bit surprised. Do most people really take advantage of EMH? I usually try to avoid them, except for Epcot Friday nights and an occasional MK evening.

I say keep the EMH. We definitely take advantage of EMH, whether it's a.m. or p.m. I have family who never stays onsite and for whatever reason it really annoys them that onsite guests get this perk :confused3

Odd. Fantasyland and Frontierland were pretty much empty when we were there. We went in Feb (presidents week) though so that also might have been why it was quieter.

I remember a Disney trip back in August 2007- MK had EMH until 3am. It was awesome. We were younger and childless, and it was so fun. We'd sleep in, hit another park mid morning, nap, eat, and then close down MK. We rode Splash Mountain about 7 times. Same for Space Mountain. Nowadays I couldn't stay out until 3am if you paid me, but I look back on that trip fondly.

PMEMH don't do much for us because we have a small child, but we love 8am RD at MK!

LOL, been there! Wife and I were mid/late 20s when we took our annual 2 day trip up from Miami. We drank around the world at Epcot by day, crashed for a few hours back at the resort then headed over to MK for EMH. There is nothing like being on BTMRR at 2:30am with the entire ride to yourself where one of you picks the extreme front and one picks the extreme back, then getting off and switching and riding again thanks to the CM being so relaxed at that time and not making you get out and re-queue

Now that sounds awful to me in my mid-30s with a kid, but on our upcoming trip my wife did promise me a 1am BTMRR trip for old times sake!

Wait a second. Has it been announced, suggested or even rumored that the reduction in EMHs will result in allowing additional FPs? Not sure I understand the poll choices.
No, it hasn't.
No, pure speculation.

Sorry to confuse...this was stemming off of the comments from the EMH changes thread. People we're discussing whether total park hours reduced, or just EMH hours. This led to talk of perks for onsite guests being reduced. Since there were rumors a year ago about EMHs bring reduced (and possibly being replaced with additional FP+s -again speculation) I was curious about what those who usually stay onsite would prefer.

Again, I apologize if you thought this poll represented an actual set of Disney-approved options. This was just for fun and curiosity for people who stay onsite. At Disney.

Don't think I'd call any of the options perks, more like compromises in a crappy situation :(

But I'd definitely rather the EMHs stay they way they were when I made all of my plans instead of having them taken away, regardless of how many pre-selected FPs I could get.

So you don't see EMH as a perk of staying onsite? I guess I don't understand what is crappy about that situation?

Ah you're right, EMH is a perk. I interpreted the poll to mean which additional perk would I prefer, but that wasn't the question at all because EMHs are already perks. Whoops! So I suppose I mean that I prefer the perks I thought I had when I made my plans (the only MK EMH for my trip has been taken away). If I didn't have plans already made that were being affected then I'm not 100% sure what I would pick, but I think I'd still prefer the same amount of EMHs.

Gotcha!! :-)

My husband and I are both teachers and often go at Easter bc we work in the summer. If they took away those 7 am magic kingdom extra magic hours during Easter week we would definitely stay offsite. Those 7-8 AM EMH are awesome during the busiest weeks of the year!

As a fellow teacher, I'm the opposite. I refuse to get up any earlier than 8am, won't leave the room until 9am at the earliest! In fact, for my upcoming December trip, I am purposefully planning 5 very relaxed days. Hoping for warm weather so I can wake up, go to the pool, eat lunch, THEN head to the parks. That's my favorite way to tour :thumbsup2

But I do like my evening EMH if I can stay awake....

I miss the 3am EMH!!! That was wonderful.

I prefer to keep or increase EMH, we usually take advantage of the evening hours. Also, offsite guests can also use FP+, so while I understand the perk would be the onsite guests get more, I don't really see it as an onsite perk. While EMH are only for onsite guests.

Oh how I miss drinking and eating my way through World Showcase! My husband and I did go to WDW childless one last time in 2012. We left our one year old with my parents. I think MK had EMH until 2 maybe? I think we made it until midnight and trudged back to the BC, totally exhausted. Yep, the 3am days are over ;) A 1am BTMRR ride sounds fabulous!
