In Defense of Bob Chapek

It’s just interesting to me that nobody says ā€œok, time to move onā€ when people start bringing up the vague agendas, but are quick to move the conversation along when people point out that what their saying doesn’t make much sense.
There was nothing quick about this. It's been pages and pages of posts on an unrelated topic.

Well, it was liked in my circles, and was making a boatload of money too! Yeah, people didn't like Jar Jar too much, but it wasn't enough to ruin the movie...until it was. I definitely grew up watching the OT too. People my age are supposed to only like the OT (and even then really only the first two). The thing is, all STar Wars movies are basically cartoons - and I LIKE cartoons!

Star Wars fans are so weird. "I hate Ewoks. I hate Jar Jar. I hate Kylo." Guess what - you hate Star Wars. šŸ˜‰

Star Wars fans love to tell each other they're not true fans for one reason or another - it is part of the fun of being a fan I think.

Funny enough I've always loved ROTJ as a kid - Ewoks and all :). It was my favorite of the OT as a kid, ANH is my favorite as an adult (blasphemy I know, that ESB isn't my favorite).

Over time, the prequels have actually grown on me even though my initial reaction was - don't like it, and I actually like Force Awakens - despite some of the issues I've had with the movie. Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker, I could take or leave 'em.

I love Mandalorian though. Overall, I still generally like most of the movies and shows.

I think in a big series of movies, its normal to like some and not like some. I don't hate everything ... although if I did, would that make me a Sith? :)

Chapek is a big fan of the Trade Federation and their monopoly on galactic commerce. He would also like to see corporations have their own senators as they do in the SW galaxy. He's working on it. šŸ˜‰
That's fantastic! But no- I was just thinking the hatred "real" Star Wars fans have for the series is VERY similar to what you see on these boards sometimes from the biggest Disney fans.

All fandoms eventually grow to hate the thing they are a fan of. It is the true sign of lasting success.

This is especially true for Disney fans lol I often read through another WDW forum, WDWmagic, and man it's like they absolutely hate the Walt Disney Company and wish for the parks to be bulldozed down by the way they talk about it.

New to capitalism?

No, but the prequels do indeed show a system where capitalism has run amok and corporations have way too much power and influence. It's like Robocop, but in space!
It’s interesting because generally I like movies with political intrigue and factions that are analogous to factions in the real world, but I don’t really like it in the prequel trilogy. It just didn’t feel very Star Warsy to me. The prequel movies were ok, I didn’t hate them, but I guess I wanted more high adventure western in space like the original trilogy. I think my favorite SW property aside from the original trilogy is The Mandalorian for that reason.

Well I take back my optimism.

Iron Man/Captain Marvel Flight Force at Disneyland Paris looks like a cheap, garbage ride. They spent all the budget on the building facelift and Iron Man animatronic.

Who approved this garbage? To be fair, the original wasn’t great either but what a missed opportunity.

Just leave everything alone at World, Chapek.

Don’t touch anything.

It's been going on all day on a thread I started for a totally different topic and clearly it's gotten nowhere- as any sane person could have expected. So I'm simply requesting that we move on.

That's literally this entire thread. No one in here is going to change their mind on chapek. It's all the same stuff over and over.

There's really not been much off topic as it came from reasons people don't like him, like how he's affected pixar movies etc. Not going off on related tangents just means all anyone is doing is beating a dead horse because you can only say the good/bad so many ways so many times before the conversation should stop, which is kinda where stuff was before the tangents. Been more intereating conversation the past day+ than the past week in here.

I mean, it looks fine to me. It was always a reskin of RnRC and it seems like they "did it up" enough. When you're going that fast, you can't really see the show scenes anyway. What exactly was expected here?
Real Disney fans know nothing is good enough.

I mean, WDW has always been ahead of their time in terms of LGTBQ rights. Gay Days have been a thing since 1991. Why are people so surprised that they would support that community?

And what explicit sexual information is being taught to 1st through 3rd graders? Like, anywhere? THAT'S your strawman. If that were actually happening, parents would have squashed it long ago. Unless you consider "gay people exist" as sexually explicit.
If only this were true.

Which part, and why isn’t it?
I would encourage you to search social media. I won't post links to the stories and tiktoks and such of what's happening in schools here. I'd also take a min and look up New Jersey's new "health" standards.
