In and Out in a Day

Nancy- I don't know if we had thunder, we really couldn't here anything over the wind.

So far so good here. It is still very windy and snowing. I have no idea how much snow we got, it some spots it's up to me knees and other spots only a couple of inches. A few trees are down on our street, fortunately they didn't hit anything. The windows are covered with ice and snow it's hard to see out. I have to be honest, I'm not enjoying the wind.

Robin- no idea here either. A lot od snow though. Huge drifts and blocked doors. I am steering clear of Buddy as he clears the driveway. He keeps getting stuck so he is cranky. Stay safe!

Good morning all,

So glad it seems that all of you made it through "Nemo". I am sorry but what kind of a name for a storm is that? Everytime I heard it I just chuckled.

Nan ~ your pictures on FB were amazing. This is the kind of snow we usually get every winter. Not so much lately but usually we get 30 - 40" in the winter. Not usually all at once but I do know how you feel. After it is all done I always think it looks so pretty.

I could use some powerful prayers or good thoughts from all of you. I have seen first hand when this group starts it is amazing.
Our little princess Lilly has RSV. She is one sick little girl. I am so worried about her. There really isn't much they can do for her, push the liquids, run a vaporizer and sleep. She is only 9 months old so all of that is rather hard to do. We are just praying that it runs its course and not goes into pneumonia. Please keep her and her parents in your thoughts and prayers. I just feel so helpless - I am so worried. Thanks so much!!

WFDT ~ Lentil soup with a bagaette, warm apple crisp with cream

Glad to hear that you all survived Nemo!

Ellen - Prayers are being sent your way for Miss Lilly! Timmy had RSV at that same age. It was scary. Alan was out of town, so I took him to the ER. He stayed for about 30 hours at the hospital with an IV and breathing treatments. I know how helpless you can feel. It's very scary! Please let us know how she gets on!

Our weekend storm blew in and out in a couple of days. It only dropped about 2 inches, so it wasn't too bad. It's sunny and COLD here today! Glad I don't have anywhere to go!

Dinner tonight is macaroni and cheese.

Hi everyone! I am just going to jump back in if that's OK. I will be better about reading and keeping up here going forward!

We got about three feet of snow from the storm. My back is sore from shoveling! I paid some guy to plow our driveway, but we still had to shovel out the stairs and walkways. The snow was heavy, ugh. But, we never lost power, and Laura and the kids came to our place for the weekend. We had a pretty good time playing board games and cooking, stuff like that.

I peeked back a page or two and am not seeing anyone reporting damage from the storm so that is good. I hope you all have been doing well.

WFD: I am trying to decide between shrimp fried rice and spicy Korean tofu stew. I have the ingredients for both, so I'll decide later. I've been on an Asian kick lately.

Ellen- poor little Lilly! I will certainly keep her, and all of you in my thoughts.

Well I don't know about you all, but I've had my fill of snow and wind! We didn't get the amount of snow everyone else did, probably about a foot, but we sure did get the wind. Trees and utility piles are down everywhere. I've been here almost 33 years and places that have never flooded before did. The beaches were completely battered, loosing 20 feet of beach! The dunes were leveled in spots. Cape cod is just a "temporary" land form, but it still breaks my heart to see so much of it wash away so quickly. We, personably were once again incredibly fortunate. Over 90% of the cape lost power, some still without, our lights only flickered.

Back later to check for a Lilly update.

Well, we decided against going to Buca di Beppo’s on Friday. Looking at their dinner menu, everything is served family style, which would have been entirely too much food. Also, we would have had to agree on each course to share and that wasn’t going to happen.;) Maybe we’ll try lunch one day.

Glad to hear everyone survived Nemo. Hoping Becky & Laura are also ok.

Nan – Yes, this is Kyle’s last season of baseball. Baseball has been a huge part of all of our lives for 17 years. Not sure how we’ll handle it.:confused3

Ellen – Prayers are on the way for little Lilly. Wish there was more I could do.

Lauri D – Please come back, we are family here and miss you.

Looks the last two days of Mardi Gras are going to be wet. We’ll be staying in anyway. Tonight will be red beans & rice and a salad. Over the weekend I did a shrimp with linguine and Italian sausage, spinach salad, pot roast, smashed roasted garlic potatoes and roasted carrots.

Hi everyone! I am just going to jump back in if that's OK. I will be better about reading and keeping up here going forward!

Welcome back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I try to keep up on FB but I am usually way behind so I miss a lot of posts. Anyway, I hop eyou post some porn! Food that is.....:lmao: ;)

Poor little Princess :sick:princess: Of course she is in my prayers. FWIW, Gail is a RT at Children's and she works in the PICU and NICU. She said that RSV is rampant, but the kids she sees have flu or some pretty nasty viruses as well. If our Precious Lily is home that is a really good sign. Just give her a little at a time, it will add up. When Kady was a baby she got sick and refused fluids. Her Dr said just a little often. We did it and eventually she got enough fluids. It was so hard to see our little one so sick so I know how difficult this is for your and Doug. You feel so helpless. :grouphug: Please keep us updated.

I saw this on the news and it is heartbreaking. FOr a while I was kind of wrapped up in our own storm anxiety but honestly, no complaints here, especially after seeing this. You know these olks are in my thoughts and prayers.
I too am sick of winter and really don't want anymore winter weather. We are planning to go see Deb's new home this weekend but there is another storm maybe forming. Buddy will not go if there is a chance of another big storm ans I have to agree. :guilty::sad1: I miss Deb so much!

Nan – Yes, this is Kyle’s last season of baseball. Baseball has been a huge part of all of our lives for 17 years. Not sure how we’ll handle it.:confused3

.

:grouphug: You know I know how you feel. I was a mess after Daniel graduated. I am not sure how it happened but somehow :confused3 Are there any teams he can get on? Deb played softball and she was on a few teams after graduation. It made a huge difference for her, so maybe if there is one Kyle can play on the transition will not be so drastic.

So I am still trying to do this crappy algebra. My head is pounding and I needed to walk away for a minute. I have leftovers in the fridge so I am not cooking tonight. I am going to have a glass of wine!

I found some time to sit down and do an actual attempt at a catch-up post. :wave2:

Hi everyone!!

Wow what a week I have had. We got to Matthew's on Thursday to the news that his pickup had a ratchet light lit on the dash. NOT GOOD!! We were able to get it in on Monday and on Tuesday when we were planning on coming home it still wasn't finished so we stayed another day. It was either that or rent a car and we really didn't want to do that. Doug and I both felt that we didn't want to leave him without the truck fixed and no way to get to work. They called on Wednesday at 1:30 that it was ready to go. $1700.00 later and he was set. :crazy2: Get this - only $565.00 in parts and $1200.00 in labor. WOW!!! I need to get a new job.

:scared:

I could use some powerful prayers or good thoughts from all of you. I have seen first hand when this group starts it is amazing.

Congrats to the Ravens, great game!!! What a week it was down here, could not have gone any better, well, except for the blackout during the game. But hey, that's how we roll.;)

One of Kyle's friends was killed in an auto accident yesterday morning. Great super friendly 22 year old with an awesome future. Kyle's taking it very hard.:sad1:

That was unreal. We had just made it outside the Dome and we were standing around, all excited that we had completed our task safely and (contrary to a news show) ON TIME. Then people were hearing rumors that the power was out and I couldn't believe it - until I looked up and several exterior lights were also out.

How is Kyle doing? :sad1:

Erm....I love youse NOLA folks but at 3am Scotland time I was hoping youse would put a coin in the meter quicker !!

It finished at 4am and I was up at 7 to get the boy to school.:crazy2:
It was worth it though, great game.

My boy is doing good.
Oh, and there is a....*GULP*...girl !!!

:rotfl2:

I got to bed after 12 and had to leave for work at 6:45, so I was tired too, but you are a trooper!

Glad to hear your boy is doing well!

Hello ladies! Didn't realize until I saw a message from Kat tonight that I have been a little MIA the last couple days. But.....

THE RAVENS WON THE SUPERBOWL!!!!!!!

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:
:dance3::dance3::dance3:
party:party:party:
:faint:

I think I'm still in shock. :rotfl: I've spent the majority of the last two days watching videos and looking at pictures of the game. And trying to get some actual work done. Today I had the parade on on my computer at work and it actually helped me focus some so I was able to get a good bit done.

I would have loved to have gone downtown to it but with my knee I just didn't think I would have been able to enjoy it fully. Hopefully we'll get to repeat next year. ;)

I was so happy for you! We were able to watch the 4th quarter of the game on a large screen. The last few minutes were anxious!

Katie's play opened last night, and it went very well. This is an entirely student directed play, and I was so proud of the cast. They performed well, and covered the few glitches that happened! Myself and a couple of other moms put together a "gala" for the cast after opening. Just baked potatoes with chili and green salad, but those kids were so grateful! Their teacher has them pretty much convinced that this play is a throw away, so they were pleased that someone was happy with what they did.

The play sounds nice and the "gala" that you put together sounds like a great sense of community. But I don't understand the part about the teacher convincing them the play was a "throw away"?

Okay, I THOUGHT I included you in my multi-quote, but it wasn't there. :confused3

I had no idea damage was this bad in places. To be fair, I haven't been watching the news, but most of what I've heard about was snow depths. I had no idea Cape Cod was hit so hard. I knew they were forecasting coastal flooding and high winds, but I hadn't heard of significant damage like you're describing. That's crazy! I did see a satellite image of the storm that Wunderground posted on Facebook. The clouds looked remarkably similar to a well-formed hurricane.

I am glad you're safe, but sorry to hear about all the devastation.

Basically, he's taken zero interest in it, at all! He never attended rehearsals, and as of today (with 2 performances left), he still hasn't seen the whole play. He did no advertising whatsoever. One of the cast members designed a poster, and his mom paid for copies to be made. When asked if there was going to be a cast party, he said, "no. It's just the winter play, and no one really cares." It's really frustrating for these kids who have sacrificed hundreds of hours to pull this off. Oh well. It will be over tomorrow night!

Okay, this is weird. NOW your post shows up for multi-quote, after I already made a separate post for it when it didn't show up with the last bunch. :confused3

This is the teacher?! Okay, you KNOW I'm not one for teacher bashing despite its popularity on the DIS, especially since I am a teacher, but wow! His actions are screaming some pretty crazy messages from a position of leadership. :sad2: And, really? "It's just the winter play and no one really cares" ?! I think the kids who rehearsed care, as would all their friends and family. And am I missing an unwritten drama rule about not caring in winter? :confused3 As the official leader of the program, you'd think he would set a good example about attendance and attitude. :headache:

I somehow missed your post earlier! Welcome back, my friend!

That really sucks.

The thing is, he's been a really great teacher, up to this point. I don't know what made the change! He's in the middle of directing Les Miserables, so that's probably part of it, but still! The kids notice these things, no matter how much we try to shield them from it. It hurts them!

Tonight is closing night, so I'll go with Katie, and help strike the costumes and stuff.

Dinner tonight will be chicken something. Not sure what. We got a good deal on chicken breasts a few weeks ago, and our freezer is jammed full. Maybe I'll make coconut chicken tenders!

Glynis, that is too bad about the teacher. Maybe he is burned out. Still, it stinks for the kids involved in the play.

Happy Mardi Gras to the NOLA ladies!

Ellen, I hope Lilly is feeling better today.

I changed up the menu last night (what else is new!) and ended up making a sweet-spicy chilli chicken stir fry with bell peppers, basil and shallots over brown rice. It was tasty. I think tonight is the spicy Korean tofu stew. Maybe ;)

Good morning ladies,

Well once again I think your prayers have worked. Lilly's fever broke around 4:00 yesterday afternoon and she has been fever free ever since. Her cough is HORRIBLE (but not a croup cough) and sounds like it is coming from her toes and her little nose runs like a faucet, but is clear. She is eating, drinking, wet diapers and slept through the night. She is such a happy baby and still has lots of smiles and she acts like she feels ok. So we are hoping that it is under control and if she doesn't get worse hopefully the worst is over. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! I knew your prayers would work. You all are the best. Stephanie and Marty just couldn't believe there were prayers from all over for their little girl. Silly kids - they have no idea how powerful we all are. :confused3 :rotfl2:

Glynis ~ That teacher needs to retire. I just hate it when I see teachers act like this. This is why I despise "Tenure"........enough said......but really!!

Becky ~ I am so glad to see you. I was sure worried about you and the family. That was a LOT of snow you got.

Robin ~ So sad about your beaches and dunes. I have only to compare this to losing a 100 year old tree to the weather. So sad. :sad2:

Kat ~ Happy Fat Tuesday :yay: :dance3:
I agree with you - I really wish Lauri D would come back. I feel so bad. I really hope I am not the reason she isn't here. Me and my big mouth :guilty:

Nan ~ Algebra :dance3: :rolleyes1 ......... nough said.

Cold out today but supposed to get above freezing. Spring can't come soon enough. Hopefully I can get out with Cooper today for a walk. It might be short but I am really wanting to get out.

WFDT ~ Baked Chicken strips, sweet potato fries and baked apples.

Make it a great day.

I don't think there is an excuse that would satisfy me. It is not right.

Bethany- Usually in winter storms snow totals are all folks think about but this was a crazy one. Still have roads not cleared in some towns. I feel badly for the contractor who bid for our area. He is not the same guy who has been here for years and he is getting beat up by some folks. This was crazy heavy snow and his trucks are too small to push it. Now the town has been struggling too, but they have the big guns. The town truck went through yesterday to clean up what this guy could not, but folks have been calling to complain. I heard him out all through Friday night. he is not a slacker, so I think it is not fair.

Ellen- YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lily is better!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please don't blame yourself for anything. You are a kind, sensitive woman. Lauri will come back when she is up to it.

Lauri- take your time and stop in when you feel up to it. I cannot imagine what you re feeling, the pain is unimaginable. We love you and are here when you are ready.

So glad to here Lilly is doing so well!

Things are crazy around here, good crazy but still crazy, so I'm not sure how often ill be able to check in. Have a great day all.
