In and Out in a Day

Weekend was great, my Raven's won!!! Now on to kick some Patriot bahookie! ;)

Trying to get back into the eating right and exercising. The eating right has started off okay, doing meatless Monday and I am having a salad and a veggie and mozzarella sandwich for lunch. Breakfast was only a banana and coffee, have to work on that.

I'm thinking dinner will be spaghetti w/ marinara, green beans gremolata and roasted cauliflower.

I had such grand plans for the weekend. I was going to do laundry, get some meals ready for the week, organize and purge my closet. You know what they say about the best laid plans..............yea none of it happened. Friday, Elizabeth called and wanted us to watch Liam as she needed to go out of town on Saturday. Jay was at Guards and Ethan had a play date. Of course we said yes. Went to the Basketball game Saturday night. Sunday we went to church and during coffee, Elizabeth wanted to know if we wanted to go to the Home Show in Kearney. Doug had already made plans with Marty to help him put in a new heater in his garage so sure I guess I can go. So we hurried home, changed clothes, picked Stephanie and Lilly up, dropped Doug off and met Elizabeth at the Home Show. We had a ball!! Decided we weren't finished yet so hit the Mall and then out to dinner. I was sitting there thinking of all the things I should have done and realized that I was doing the BEST thing - having a great time with my 2 girls and my precious grandbabies. At that moment Life couln't get much better. We got home at 10:00 last night went straight to bed. When I got up this morning I looked around my house and realized it was ok to not do anything - it will all be there another day.

This, my friend, is how life should be lived. Good for you!!!!:thumbsup2

Morning Girls,

Merle ~ Good luck with the eating right and exercising. It's hard to get back in the habit but you feel so good when you do.

Kat ~ THANK YOU so muc for your kind words. I really aprreciate them.

Cold here this morning, but the sun is shining and the sky is the prettiest blue. Almost makes you forget how cold it is.

Went to Zumba last night and boy did we work the arms and legs. I am a bit sore - but in a good way - today.

WFDT ~ Meatloaf, baked potatoes, green beans and sliced tomatoes.

Make it a great day.

Good morning ladies!

Marilyn - Good luck to your Ravens! Our city is gearing up for the Super Bowl already. Good luck on the eating and exercise too!!

We have a stomach virus going around our house. Johnny had it over the weekend. Kyle started with it yesterday and today is my turn. Seems to move quickly so I should be ok tomorrow.

Hard to believe my boy has started his last semester of college. Seems like just yesterday I was sharing his high school graduation pics with y'all.

We have been having yucky weather and there is no end in sight. It's cold, drizzly and foggy...gloomy

Have a good one!

Glynis - Thaat's one very smart Jacob picking an instrument that gives more scholarship options. You've done well! :goodvibes

Ellen - Sounds like you're have a great time with the family. Hope you're feeling less Zumba sore now.

Marilyn - Good luck to your Ravens.

Kat - Stomach viruses are the worse; particularly in bad weather. Hope you feel better soon.

Morning, all!

Kathy - Hope you feel better quickly! I hate stomach viruses!!! Nothing knocks me flat on my back like that!

Ellen - Your weekend sounds perfect!

Marilyn - Good for you on the good eating and exercising habits! Alan, Katie and I are all starting up, as well. We have until June 1 for our Disneyland trip, so we're using that as our target date! So far, so good! I'm down 6 pounds since Christmas, and I'm feeling really good!

Dinner tonight will be quesadillas.

Morning all,

Kat ~ I hope you start feeling better soon.
I agree I can't believe Kyle is almost done with school. On the other hand I think my Matthew is going to go to school forever. :rotfl2: He was suppose to graduate last May -REALLY long story - but will graduate this May also. I would give anything if we could get these 2 boys together. They sound so much alike.

PIO ~ I think my acheyness wasn't Zumba afterall. I think I have come down with something. :(

Glynis ~ Good for you - 5 pounds is amazing. Keep up the good work.

We are to warm up starting today through the weekend. Then be single didget on Monday. Of course I have Monday off (MLK Jr.) so I might just stay home and snuggle with my Kindle.

I am feeling a bit under the weather today - started Monday night. Not bad, just off. My tummy just doesn't feel good. There are quite a few people with this in the Church so I suppose I got something from them. No fever, just don't feel good, so I'm not going to bells and choir tonight. To be truthful I can't wait to go home and get my pj's on and snuggle in my big ole chair. Lot's and lot's of people with the influenzia here in Nebraska, so bad they are closing a few schools to ward it off. I have gotten my flu shot so I should be good but darn I don't want that.

WFDT ~ Pulled beef sandwiches (it is home in the crockpot. I will pull it when I get home), homemade buns, sweet potato fries and banana dessert.

Make it a great day.

Ellen- I'm sorry you're not feeling great, but glad it came after such a nice weekend. Get better soon!

Kathy- I can't believe Kyle is almost done with school either. I remember when you posted his prom pictures!

Marilyn- I'm sorry but I can't root for your ravens, I already have a sick husband to deal with, I don't need a sick husband whose team lost! Go Pats!

Glynis- I'm trying to eat a bit better too. I actually eat pretty healthy, I just eat a lot of it! I try not to have the bad thing in the house but my husband needs a ton of calories so there is always something to tempt me.

So far so good, I think I have escaped the flu. My husband made it work for a whole hour today before he came home. I've never seen him so worn out. Better him than me, it sure didn't look like much fun.

Leftovers for dinner. I saw a recipe for chicken pot pie soup on a blog and we had it last night. It was very tasty and enough left for tonight.

Merle ~ Good luck with the eating right and exercising. It's hard to get back in the habit but you feel so good when you do.

I know. Right now I can't go to the gym because I am having pain in my right knee. My Dr. had me doing heat and pain relievers but it is not getting better so off to the ortho I go on Monday.

Marilyn - Good luck to your Ravens! Our city is gearing up for the Super Bowl already. Good luck on the eating and exercise too!!

Marilyn - Good luck to your Ravens.

Thank you.

I may be going in December with my sis and her family so I really need to get to the point where I can walk great distances and not poop out quickly. Once I get the knee thing taken care of it's back to the gym.

Aww that's too bad cause Ray Lewis is coming to town. ;) And the Raven's are on a role!

The flu and stomach viruses are hitting everyone hard this year. :sick:Thankfully, so far, I have managed to avoid both.

Yuck on the GI virus. Marisa and Jeff had it so I took Kady. She had a slight version, not like her parents. I hope yours passes in the 24 hours, but take it easy after. It seems like yesterday that Kyle was just starting HS! Where does the time go?

We have until June 1 for our Disneyland trip, so we're using that as our target date! So far, so good! I'm down 6 pounds since Christmas, and I'm feeling really good!

Good for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope that rest takes care of you. There is so much going around this year, flu is very bad and that GI thing is terrible! Stay in and feel better!

Marilyn- I'm sorry but I can't root for your ravens, I already have a sick husband to deal with, I don't need a sick husband whose team lost! Go Pats!

We are Pats fans here too! DH is not a diehard any team fan though. He always would bet with the kids and take the team they did not want so he is used to rooting for the underdog. :happytv:

Jeff had the flu and it knocked his socks off. Even when he went back to work he was dragging. I hope that your DH gets back his strength fast!

I know. Right now I can't go to the gym because I am having pain in my right knee. My Dr. had me doing heat and pain relievers but it is not getting better so off to the ortho I go on Monday.

Take care of that knee! Marisa needed surgery and it was not fun so get thee to the DR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's the end of the semester for Jacob and Katie and they are excited to move on to new classes (Katie, only one, but Jacob gets 4 new classes). Biggest news is that Jacob decided that, in addition to the trumpet, he wants to play the French horn. So, he dipped into his own money to pay the rental fee for the horn for the remainder of the year. He also bought his own lesson book so he can catch up with the beginning band. He's loving it. This happened on Thursday, and he's already doing so well! I asked him why he wanted to add another instrument right now, and he said, French horn players get scholarships! Thinking ahead, that boy!

Good for Jacob!!!!!!!!!!!!! Smart kid!

Nan - Your dinner sounded awesome! Moonshiner Nan and her still, oh boy, good times indeed!!!:rotfl:

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to earn to make fruit brandy. Welby's friend makes shine but I was afraid to try it, Bud said it was STRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now about this still--------------------you go girl. You tell Buddy that your friends in NE will help with bail money. :rotfl2:
I love 'ya girl.
I would love to have your batter bread recipe. Please share.

There is no cleaning that outranks grandbabies! I remember that when my kids were young I always had to keep things in apple pie order. Then Kady came along and you cannot imagine what I let go when she was around ;) I am so glad you got to have a blast with your family!

I will post the bread recipe . It is a batter bread and came out delicious. I just need to figure out how to get it from Pinterest to here.
And I will tell Buddy that bail money is not a problem :rotfl2:

PIO-I am glad tha you are getting your work organized, it makes for smooth sailing!
I used to work at a Chinese restaurant when Daniel was a baby. A few of my shifts were really slow so I got to watch the chefs prepare during the late night. I loved it there! Anyway, there were three restaurants that were kind of linked and one year they all got together to celebrate Chinese new Year and we were all invited. This was over 30 years ago and I can still remember how much fun that night was! It was the year of the Dragon and I made a big dragon cake (resembled Pete's dragon; :upsidedow) for our restaurant.

Gong Hei Fard Choy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope I got that right!

So I am a little acky today. I had Kady Monday afternoon and brought her back home last night. Buddy was opposed, he was positive Marisa still had "a germy house" and wanted kady here where I had taken my steamer and steamed every surface. Anyway, I hope I just had a touch of it and that it is gone tomorrow. I made enough AMerican Chop suey for two nights and there is plenty of cole slaw to go with it JIC.

Good grief where did my morning go. It is already past lunch time.

Robin ~ Oh you poor thing, I sure hope DH feels better soon.

Merle ~ I hope your knee starts feeling better. Doug had his left knee done in December. He is so glad he did it. It still hurts but he says in a different way. I am hoping he will walk with me this year.

Nan ~ Oh sweetie, I so hope you are not getting sick. That is exactly how I started out. Please take care.
Thanks so much for the bread recipe. I read all through it and printed it out - 20 pages :scared1: I want to try it - maybe even tonight. Thanks!!

I am feeling a bit better today. Whatever this was, was not fun. I never have had a fever or anything else other than an upset stomach and no appetite at all. Still don't feel hungry. Strange, really strange. I jumped on the scale this morning and it was down almost 5 pounds so at least that was good.

WFDT ~ Planned overs ala carte. Doug will be just thrilled :rotfl2: :lmao:

Make it a great day.

Ellen- the 20 pages was wht tripped me up too. I ended up having to write it down and keep my page open to check instructions. It was well worth it!

I hope that you are better! I woke up spiffy today so I think I was fighting something off and won the battle, fingers crossed!

I hope all are feeling better today!

Tonight is book club///We read The School of essential Ingredients. I was not prepared to like it, my DDIL hated it and ended up not finishing it. I loved it! I think if any one here has a few hours it is worth the time. It revolved around the people taking a cooking class and I got absorbed right into it.

Some folks are making treats that were described in the book. I made a cake with browned butter frosting.

Glynis - Congrats on having a Disneyland trip in the works. 1 June is a good target date for healthy and less weighty! You're doing so well with losing 6 lbs. Well done! (And I'm envious. I'd love to be able to claim the same)

Ellen - Hope you're feeling better and that you didn't come down with anything!!

Robin - Sounds like you're doing well on the healthy eating stakes as well! I'm going to take a leaf out of all of your books!!

Marilyn - Oh no! Is your right knee better?

Nancy - Gong Hei Fard Choy.....is pretty good and close. There are two "ways" that I've seen it...Gong Xi Fai Choi or Gong Hei Fatt Choy. I prefer the second way. Chinese New Year is the 10 Feb this year. We will be finishing the Year of the Dragon and moving into the Year of the Snake (aka Little Dragon). Hope you're feeling better!

I could really use some prayers and your thoughts right now. We're having a not so nice start to the year and I'm hoping our luck changes for the better soon. I'm trying to keep as upbeat as I can but there are moments.....

Have a great day all.

Everyone here is feeling better, thanks for all of the well wishes! I’m convinced we get ill so often because Johnny works in a nursing home. He refuses to take a flu shot, the man is scared of needles.:rolleyes2

Ellen – I’d love to get our boys together because that would mean WE would be getting together!!!! I’m glad you’re feeling better.

Robyn – Glad to hear your DH is better but he’d better not push it. Sounds like he had it really bad, may need to take it very slow to avoid a relapse. Speaking of chicken and leftovers, Michael Symon did an awesome curried chicken salad on The Chew yesterday…I LOVE that show!!!

Marilyn – Seems like you’ve had a years worth of doctor visits already this year. Hopefully the ortho will be able to help on Monday.

Nan – Glad to hear you are feeling good!!

PIO – Hugs, my friend. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. We are always here for you.

Our city is getting so electric! Super Bowl prep is in full force and is so exciting. Mardi Gras and Super Bowl at the same time is going to be crazy good!!

Going out for dinner tonight to our favorite Thai restaurant uptown. For the next 3 or 4 weeks we’ll be sticking closer to home to avoid the masses. We’ll probably head downtown one day just before the Super Bowl to take it all in.party:

Kathy- you're mardi grad prep sounds like our summer prep. It gets so crazy here, I don't think I've ever gone to a restaurant in the summer and the grocery stores are like the day before thanksgiving but everyday. Of course we are incredibly grateful for the tourism business but its mobbed here!

PIO- I know it can be tough to be upbeat when things are tough but I think it really does help. Hope things improve for you.

Ellen- glad you're on the mend, hope it continues.

Things are back to normal here and we are all healthy. It an absolutely gorgeous day here, the sun is shiny and we got a couple of inches of snow so everything is crisp and white. I love it. Of course I don't need to go anywhere today so that probably helps. Have a great weekend all.

Morning girlies,

PIO ~ Prayers are on the way. We are here for you - just let us know what we can do. Rough spots are NO fun. :grouphug:

Kat ~ One of these day I am coming for Mardi Gras. It is on my bucket list.
I think you might be right about getting sick? Doug and Matthew hate needles also - fought me tooth and nail to get a flu shot. But once the babies came they had to or they couldn't be around them til spring. :lmao:

Nan ~ How was book club last night? I am making the bread for dinner tonight - I can't wait.

Robin ~ Glad to hear you all are feeling better.

I am feeling better today. Not 100% but a lot better than yesterday. Whatever this was, hit Doug and I both. NOT fun!! Thanks for the well wishes.

We don't have anything planned for the weekend (at least not at this moment ). YEA!!!! I love weekends like this. I hope to get a few things done that I have been putting off for awhile. But it's all good.

WFDT ~ Chicken and rice soup and Nan's home made batter bread.

Make it a great day.

My knee is being a pain in more ways than one. :sad2: The worst is at night and first thing in the morning because it stiffens up really badly and hurts like crazy which has been waking me up. And of course waking up means I have to go to the blessed bathroom which is on another floor. :crazy2: And during the day it can go from okay walking with a slight limp to being so stiff I am limping badly.

Kat- yeah it does seem like I live at the Dr's lately. :lmao: I did get all of my results back and everything is good. A few things were "off" with my blood work but nothing unusual and not bad for a pooh sized person. My bad cholesterol is slightly elevated but the good is good. :thumbsup2

Pio- :grouphug:
