In and Out in a Day

Lori – :wave2: You are always welcome here, miss you!!! Don’t know of anyone looking for a job other than my boy. He can only work part time at night. His school schedule conflicted with his country club job and unfortunately he had to quit, he loved it there.

Glynis – I am so sorry to hear that Jacob was bullied. I can only imagine how upset you must have been, it just infuriates me to read about it. I am glad to hear how well the school handled the situation. I don’t blame you for having “spies”. Praying it never happens again to your sweet boy.

Nan – You don’t know how much I’d love to make a trip up your way. It will happen one day, I promise! I hope you start feeling better soon!

PIO – I would love to check out the tulip farm in Carlsbad. We need to shake things up a bit and see something other than Food & Wine……I can’t believe I just said that.

Ellen - Prayers continue for you, your family and especially Doug. Glad y'all are going to Lincoln. I hope Doug is able to enjoy himself.

Looking forward to dinner tonight! We are joining Sheryl & Bob and another couple we've never met at one of Emeril's restaurants for a six course dinner with beer pairings. I'm excited to meet the others because they will also be joining us at F&W next month!:cool1: (Hopefully I won't blow my diet TOO bad tonight).

YUM!!! Have fun ladies!

Glynis, I am glad that things worked out so quickly, and also that there were kids on the bus willing to step in! Hopefully that will be the end of it. Bullying is so bad. I was bullied in 6th grade badly enough that my parents switched me out to another school.

Hi Lori! Long time no "see." I hope you are well.

I truly have not been cooking this week. One night I even just had a handful of popcorn! John wasn't here this week though, he was in Paris for business, so that's partly why I was not motivated. He is flying home today so maybe I will have some pictures soon.

I am not cooking again tonight! I have to staff a black tie gala for my employer. Supposedly they are feeding us after we get all of the guests seated but I am not counting on it. I am eating a big lunch as insurance! (though not so big that I won't be able to zip my gown up later  )

Hi everyone I have read back but my life is still a BIG mess so want my old boring life back :( . O well trying to make the best of things.

Glynis -Im so so glad things worked out for Jacob and glad to hear about the actions taken against the other boys.

Kat and Sheryl have fun tonight Im envious.

Well we finally decided we are still going to florida in oct and our youngest son is also coming along. Cant wait i so need a vacation sorry to be such a bad friend to you all here after you all have been such good friends to me.

Lauri -

Look after yourself and your family. You know we're here if you need us.

Becky – How was the gala? Has John returned home yet? Where’s the food?

Lauri – So glad y’all have decided to come down for F&W and that your bringing Brandon!! Can’t wait to meet him and to see y’all again!:cool1:

PIO – The pics were absolutely gorgeous. I really enjoyed looking at all of them!

We had a great time Friday night and I didn’t blow my hard work on my diet. I actually lost another pound over the weekend. At this rate I should be down another 8 lbs before we leave!

Over the weekend I cooked a great garlicky shrimp & pasta with a spinach salad, filet mignon & baked potatoes with oven roasted green beans. It’s red beans & rice today!

Morning ladies,

PIO ~ Oh the tulips are beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Becky ~ How was the Gala? I love dressing up all pretty like. :goodvibes

Kat ~ So glad that dinner was good. I bet the company had a lot to do with it. Good job on the weight loss.

Lauri ~ I am so glad to hear you are still going to Florida. {{hugs}} (can't find the hug smiley)

The MRI is back and Doug has a torn Meniscus. Surgery will have to be scheduled. He is freaking out :crazy2: !!! This is the same guy that won't go to the dr. I have no idea how I am going to get this done. But prayers would be appreciated. ;)

Fun weekend and back to work this morning. Matthew and I went to see Finding Nemo 3D on Friday night and then yesterday we saw, Trouble With the Curve. One of the BEST movies I have seen. Don't miss it!! At one point the whole theater erupted in applause. It's that good - GO!!!

We have another funeral for this Wednesday. So a real busy week!!

WFDT ~ Meatloaf, baked potatoes and green bean casserole. It's all in the oven ready to go around 3. My oven BETTER go off as scheduled.

Make it a great day!!

Ellen - I am so sorry to hear that Doug needs surgery. Prayers coming, my friend.

I need to apologize for my previous post. I sounded very self-absorbed with my comment about Friday night. Anytime we are with Sheryl & Bob it's an awesome night and we got to meet the other couple that will be joining us at F&W this year. It was a great night all around! I have been obsessed with my weight lately, so I apologize.:(

Becky – How was the gala? Has John returned home yet? Where’s the food?!

I guess it went well, from what I hear. Us worker peons were not actually allowed up into the gala, we were just staffing the entryway

John got back Friday night. He was really busy while there and didn't get out to see much, unfortunately.

Erm....I have not been taking food photos this month! I'll try and get back in the habit.

Ellen, I am sorry that Doug has to have surgery. I hope it goes smoothly and he has a speedy recovery.

WFD: I think spaghetti and meatballs. I'll try and remember to take a picture!

Ellen I am so sorry that Doug needs surgery. That tear must be pretty bad, surgery is a big decision for a torn miniscus; I also have kept you all in my prayers as you get through these losses.

Kat- do not you dare apologize! I love to hear all about your meals, especially those shared with Sheryl and Johnny!. Now I am so proud of your ability to stay on your diet. I have failed miserably!

Becky- you had to an the doorway????

Buddy got a tough call tonight. A man he worked with got into a very bad accident. It happened after Bud left the job site. His boss called to tell him it does not look good. It is going to be a rough day at work tomorrow.

Dinner was good. Chicken breast pounded thin, coated with a mix of crushed ritz crackers, freshly grated parmesan cheese and black pepper after teh chicken is dipped in butter. YUM

Kat - Congrats on the weight loss and don't you dare apologise. It's nice to celebrate good news with one's friends! Glad you liked the tulips.

Ellen - Sorry to read that Doug has a torn Meniscus and that surgery is required. Another funeral? I'll be thinking of you and him this week.

Becky - I haven't been taking as many food pictures either since most of this group hang out here now rather than the Diner's thread. I do miss you all on that thread and your food porn and it is nice to still be able to catch up with all your news on this thread.

Nancy - I'm so sorry about Buddy's work colleague. Please update us when you can.

Back to work day today and Tuesday night's baked potato for dinner. Work is settling into a routine of too much work and not enough people to do the work. But then....my colleagues and I have gotten used to the pace and we've all come to the realisation that the work will be there irrespective of how many hours we put in. We're all working a normal full day and leaving work earlier rather than being ridiculous about it. It's a good realisation to come to for all of us.

PIO- I can tell you what Buddy heard yesterday. He works for a construction company. They deliver blacktop. After they dump the load they prop the raise the body and prop the tail gate up with a grading stake in order to clean it. Bud heard that the stake broke and the gate hit him in the head. He was airlifted to the hospital but did not make it. :worried: The job was at the Police Department in a neighboring town.

Nancy- I'm sorry, what a terrible accident. My heart goes out the the crew and family.

Becky- I'm going to have spaghetti and meatballs soon too, in this month's issue of Everyday Food, there were all different kinds of meatballs. One was a chicken parm meatball. You make the meatball with ground chicken and stuff it with fresh mozzerella, I can't wait to try it.

Kathy- I'm not sure which to be more jealous of, you're weight loss or that you get to go to Food and Wine!

Ellen- Sorry Doug needs surgery, I'm not a big fan of the doctor either.

Well I'm happy to report I have internet at home again so I hope to be here more often, now I need to get on with my day. Have a great day all!

Welcome back Robin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fall means comfort food. My cousin made meatballs and sauce that she shared with us. Delicious!

I so am going to try the chicken parm meatballs!

Good morning, everyone! We are back from our weekend getaway! Actually, we got back extremely late Sunday night, and yesterday was spent putting the house back in order (we left Katie here alone, and the house was a disaster area!!!). Timothy also decided that yesterday would be a great time to start running a really high fever, so that kept me hopping, as well. Seems to be better now, though.

Nancy - I'm so sorry!! What a horrible accident! I can't even imagine having to deal with something like that.

Kathy - I'm so thrilled with your progress!!! Wish I had a little of your self-control! I'm also excited to hear about the Food and Wine Festival! Can't wait!!!

Ellen - I'm so sorry that Doug needs surgery! That's some football injury! Wish I lived closer so I could help out! I'm here anytime for virtual hugs!

Robin - Yay for internet! It's good to see you posting again!

Becky - Sorry you've been in a cooking slump. I'm with you. All my kids want is tacos and sandwiches. Nothing too exciting there!

Dinner last night was a crockpot dish. Beef and broccoli. I was hoping it would be as good as the cashew chicken dish we had last week, but it was really missing something. Not sure what, though. So, it will probably not go into our rotation.

Tonight's dinner will be something with chicken and lemon. I have both in the refrigerator that need to be used! I have a couple of ideas, so we'll see what I come up with.

If Timothy is up to it, we'll make a trip to the library in a little while, and then to the grocery store. Have a great day, all!

Morning Girls,

Nan ~ I am so sorry for the loss of Buddy's friend. Wow, life is so short. With all of our losses these last 2 week - 2 of our own and 3 in the Church and with another one probably, it really makes you stop and think.
I am so sorry!!

Kat ~ Don't you even think you are self asorbed. We LOVE to hear of your great food and being with good friends is perfect.
No apology needed my friend.

Robin ~ Yea for the internet. So glad to see you again.

PIO ~ Good for you to realize you are human and can only do what you can do. Good feeling huh?!

Becky ~ I am so glad that John made it home safe.
Like I have said before, I bet your dinner slumps are still better than me on a good day. ;)

Glynis ~ So glad you had a good time away. We all need to get out of Dodge once in awhile. Makes home feel so good.
Hope Timmy is feeling better and you can go to the Library.
How is Jacob getting along? I sure have been thinking of him.

Thanks everyone for the good wishes for Doug. But already he is postponing it - get this - till after college football. Actually I do agree. We are season ticket holders and our seats are on row 94. There is no way he could make it all the way up there. And God forbid he NOT go. I will keep you all posted.

But I will say he is pretty grumpy. We NEVER fight, but if he doesn't straighten up here soon, world war 3 is going to comence. :furious: Good grief!! I am about ready to ship him somewhere, anywhere!! Any one have some extra freezer space - ;) ::yes:: !!

WFDT ~ Hot turkey sandwiches, mashed potatoes with gravy and fresh peaches.

Make it a great day!!

Nan – I’m sorry to hear about Buddy’s co-worker. What a horrible accident. Offering prayers.

PIO – Glad to hear work is settling into a routine. Y’all are right, doesn’t matter how many hours you put in, it’ll be there tomorrow!

Robin – Yay for your internet!!! That chicken meatball sounds great!

Glynis – I hope Timmy is feeling better.

Becky – Glad to hear John made it home safely. Can’t wait for your food porn to return!

Ellen – I totally get why Doug wants to postpone. BUT, I don’t blame you for trying to secure a freezer spot for him.;)

Chicken pasta parmesan, corn and a salad are on tap for dinner tonight, if I'm feeling better. Dealing with another bout of vertigo today.

Robin - Nice to see you posting again!

Nancy - It's spring here. Asparagus, peas and strawberries are looking great at the moment!

Glynis - Oh no for the house being a disaster but YAY for a weekend getaway. Hope Timothy is feeling better.

Ellen - Sorry that Doug is pretty grumpy and I hope things work out for you. World War 3 is never nice....so let's try and defer to the next century.

Kat - Vertigo...again? What does your doctor say?

Well....today I finally admitted to myself that I need some time off work. The catalyst for this is the fact that DH is heading to San Francisco for a week in October for work. I was looking at the calendar and working out how much additional running around I need to do to cover for him and in order to get DS to his normal extracurricular activities. And then when I was done, I took a real good look at it and figured that something had to give or I was going to be a raging monster of stress that week.

I finally broached the subject of 1 week off work and have to check with 2 other colleagues. Hoping to be able to sort this out by early next week! If I can swing it, I'll be staying home and doing a few walks and cycles in the park. I don't think I'll tell anyone other than the parents that I'm taking that week off. I think I'd like to be able to stay in the daggy clothes and weed my garden for a bit.

Have a good day all.

Quick check in.

Lauri, so happy you are going to WDW! Hugs!

Ellen, sorry to hear that Doug needs surgery. He sounds just like Tom with doctors. he wont go until the problem is the worst it could be.

PIO, I hope you can get the time off you need.

Nancy, such a tragedy. Sorry to hear about Buddy's coworker.

Kat, Hope youre feeling better.

Robyn, those meatball sound yummy!

I think dinner is pasta, salad and garlic bread. I need to get a lot done before I leave. MIL is not coming out. T is so busy with work that he cannot drive out to get her.

Not sure if I will be back but please have a wonderful weekend! xo
