In and Out in a Day

Morning all.

Jen ~ It is so good to see you. You have been missed!! Enjoy the rest of your vacation - it will go way so fast. We will be back in school here in less than a month. We start back August 20th.

I am so hungry for a warm just from the garden tomato. I have gotten a few cucumbers, and a neighbor brought some sweet corn. But that might be all for this year. We aren't even praying for rain anymore.....at this point it would not help at all. We are finished!!!!

We had a nice weekend. Marty went to Omaha for a Bachelor Party so Stephanie came and spent the weekend with Elizabeth. We all BBQd on Saturday night. Oh it was so much fun then we watched a movie and had rootbeer floats. Sunday we all went to church and everyone was so excited to see Lilly. Went for breakfast after. Doug and I hibernated the rest of the day and watched the Open Championship. It is even too hot to go to the Country Club. So no golfing for us.

Make it a great day!

Hey y'all. Just when I think things are looking up something always happens. I really shouldn't whine about such trivial things but to a 22 yr old, it was a rough weekend. He lost his Iphone and the girl. Turns out she was just trying to get her ex jealous and it worked.:sad1:

Oh Ellen, this is terrible! I have the FSA updates and it looks like your area has been declared a disaster area. My heart is breaking for the farm families. Our insurance agent tols me that there are farm families who have thrown it all in after this year, ther eis just no more to lose :sad2:

Oh No! Kyle is such a nice guy, he would never have seen it coming. :sad2:

So Buddy is ready to explode. Our landlord handed him a bill and said he was increasing the rent by that much. Really?????????? So I called him and asked how he came to the realization that it is okay to change the deal 6 months in. "Business is business and my expenses are going up" This was his insurance bill and he has made some huge claims in the past few years. He refuses to take down a big pine windbreak because the insurance company won't pay for it. :furious:
I have to call him back and tell him we'll pay it but I am not paying until we pay our rent at the beginning of the year. This property costs $800 more than it is worth but we store material in the sheds all year so it is worth it. Now it will be closer to $1500 more. Buddy said this is it. No more money or we leave. I had to give him alcohol last night popcorn::

Oh Kat, this just infurates me. What right do these girls think they have playing with these young men. If I could, I would strangle her. I am just so dam* mad. Shame on her - Karma is a bit**. Believe me it will come back to her. Poor Kyle!! He so doesn't deserve this. I know he doesn't believe it - at least now - but there is someome so worthy of him out there. He just hasn't found her yet. Bless his heart!!

Thanks for your kind words. We are just hobby farmers, so we aren't hurting real bad except that we hate to see what is happening. We have lost a LOT of money this summer and we are finished. At least for a few years. Breaks my heart - but that is the life of a farmer. We are small so we have no crop insurance so we just have to bite the bullet. We will survive!! Thanks so much.

I bet Buddy is just beside himself. I don't even think alcohol would help Doug at this point. He knows he has you between a rock and a hard spot. That is happening here and people are just walking away and the high and mighty are left with just a peice of paper. Not worth a whole lot. :rotfl: I totally believe if we could all help each other out, then we all would make this work. I am just so sorry this is happening to you two. You so don't deserve it.

I was able to get to the farmers market last night and got some yellow squash, zuccini, new potatoes and garlic. Went right home a cooked it all. It tasted so good. I don't know how much more there will be, but it sure was a true gift to be able to have something fresh last night.

Are you all excited for the Olympics to start. I can't wait!! I will be glued to the TV until the closing ceremony. I just love the Olympics - I am so jealous of Glynis getting to go. That is just so cool.

I had better get to work - so out for now.

Hey all! Just got back from a week at dad's, and I see that there has been some bad news.

Ellen - I'm so sorry about your area. I just don't know how the farmers do it, year after year!

Kathy - I'm so angry for Kyle! What a terrible girl! I wish I had some wise words for Kyle, but I don't. I'm just glad that he has you to help him through it.

Nancy - What a rotten trick for your landlord to play!

After Alan left for England last Sunday, the kids and I packed up and headed to my dad's house. It was a fun week. I finally got to see all 6 plays, and they were all truly magnificent. However, I can honestly say I'm a bit tired of seeing plays... for a while. Hopefully I'll feel differently once I get to England. We'll see. I also got to see my 2 nephews that live in New York State. It's been a year since we've seen them, and boy have they grown! It was fun to reconnect with them, and with my brother and his wife. It's tough being separated from them, but at least we live in a digital age, so we can communicate a lot more easily!

The kids and I drove home yesterday and now it's down to the nitty gritty to get myself ready for London. I need to pack for myself, make sure the house is ready for the kids and my niece to take over, stock the freezer with food so they don't starve, and do all the hundreds of little things that need to be done before I go. I am SO READY for this vacation! I'm beginning to feel the signs of stress, and need to leave before I SNAP!

I hope y'all are feeling well, doing well, etc. I miss you all more than I can say, and hope that more of you will pop in so the thread doesn't die while I'm gone! Please, please, please!

I'm here!!

Glynis ~ I am just over the moon for you and your trip to London. Are you going to see any of the events? Someday.....someday I will get to an Olympic Venue. I love the Olympics and would love to be home to watch it all.

 to everyone else. Please pop in and say hi!!

The girls and I went shopping Saturday. We had a ball. Elizabeth's birthday was Saturday and the boys were all golfing in a tournament so we decided to have some fun also. We ate at Olive Garden and it was so good. The babies were perfect. What a joy to go with 2 babies that were so good.

Yesterday I served at 50th Anniversary Open House here at the Church. Doug came and washed dished when he got done golfing. It was such an honor to be a part of this great couple. I can only hope to still be that in love after that long. We had a really nice time, but man was I tired when I got home.

Back to work today.............I would much rather be playing some more.

Make it a great day!!

Good morning ladies! Thanks for all the kind words for my boy. I really appreciate your kindness.:grouphug:

Our a/c unit went out last night and we have a guy out here now trying to figure out what it is. I’m sure it will be $$$$.:sad2:

Glynis – I’m also very excited for you and your trip! When do you leave?

Ellen – You are so blessed with those babies!!

Out for now….

/
Very very quick " In " because I remembered I forgot to post about Kyle.

What a wee witch , I have never been more serious about an In and Out Kathy !!!

Oh and Glynis its just been on the news here that tickets for West End Theatre shows have been slashed.
With everyone at the Olympics the theatres are empty so the are trying to get folk in.
I dont know if you planned to go to any shows but you might get a bargain.

Ellen - Alan has an all access pass to any of the venues that he wants... unfortunately, it isn't transferable to me. Boo! Oh well. I'll do what I can!

Kat - I leave early Sunday morning. I'm getting so excited, but nervous at the same time. I've never traveled alone!

Vickie - That's GREAT news for me!!! I am planning on some theater! I really want to see "War Horse" and whatever else I can fit in. My dad gave me some theater money, so I'm ready and raring to go!!!

The countdown is on, and I'm feeling ready! I'm halfway packed, and almost all of my "to do's" before I leave are done! Just working on making sure the kids have clean laundry before I go, and that I leave a stocked freezer and refrigerator.

I'll try to post pictures to my facebook account while I'm there. I'm also planning on a small trip report, if anyone's interested.

Good Morning Ladies!

Glynis- I am so excited for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The vacation countdown begins!!!!!!!!!

Ellen- Hobby or not, this is terrible. We also could be considered hobby in that we are just 4 acres and do not rely on this for our income. For people who are in tune with the soil it does not matter, you are invested. :grouphug:

Vickie- In and out would be good!

Kat- how is Kyle doing? I keep thinking about him.

We have been busy here. I bought a new desk and Daniel spent the afternoon "helping" me put it together. Okay, I handed him tools  I finally broke down and bought a new laptop so I needed a new space to keep it :goodvibes

Marisa and I are heading to Sturbridge on Saturday morning to see Debbie off. Sh is riding in the Pan-Mass Challenge :cheer2::cheer2:. She rides to Hyannis and leaves there to finish in Provincetown. Almost 200 miles :scared:

I am going to try to get some weeding done today. I have to be honest, I have gotten nothing productive done this summer, every time I can skedaddle out with Marisa I do so my house and yard are looking like I am never home.

Vickie - :rotfl2: I knew you'd come through for us!

Glynis - I'd love to read your report, please do one!I am very excited for you.:cool1:

Nan - Kyle is doing good. I worry that it took him over two years (since his last heart break) to even give a relationship a try. Hopefully, he'll learn to trust again.:sad1:

Ellen - Thanks for the text, you must have known I needed that.

Sheryl & I are busy trying to decide on which Food & Wine events we want to try and book. Fun times indeed!:goodvibes

Have a great day, ladies! Out for now.....

I just found a British import store in a neighboring town!!! I took the kids today and picked up fresh made Cornish pasties for dinner! We had 2 beef, 1 vegetable curry, and 3 sausage rolls. Delicious!!!

200 miles! :scared:

We've had TWO lawn service companies ring our doorbell recently. :scared:  :rotfl: The thing is, both times they've come by it was like an hour before we (errrr, my DH!) were headed outside to deal with it.

Yes, Glynis! I hope you do a trip report! Have an AMAZING time!

Kathy, sorry to hear about Kyle's relationship troubles.

Oh, dear. Kathy, Sheryl, and a Food & Wine schedule. :scared: :rotfl:

Good Morning Ladies! I have been MIA a bit, trying to reclaim spaces in my house that have been snowed under when I move my stuff. I am a pack rat!

I had plans to keep on cleaning so I would be ready for the weekend but we got a pathetic call from my Little Princess....Princess Tinkerbell (My girl refuses to answer to Princess Nola anymore)...................Nola called and was crying. She missed her Nana and Meeshee and wanted us to come to the beach. Well, we were getting ready to deliver my old desk to Marisa's DSIL we were able to calm her down with promises to get there first thing in the morning. So we are off to Welby's camp site and to heck with my cleaning plans.

Oh that is so cool for Alan. I would go to all of them. ;) I am so excited for you and YES YES YES we want a trip report. I can't wait.

Bethany ~ WooHoo it is so good to see you. I am enjoying your trip report.

Nan ~ Thanks for the kind words. I knew you would so understand!!
I so agree - those babies are so much more important - and fun - than housework. The funny thing about housework is - it will wait and always be there when you get back. :lmao:

Vic ~ I knew we could count on you - ALWAYS!!!

Kat ~ I SO understand where and what you are feeling about Kyle. Both of our boys went through this at the same time. Kyle was with Marisa (that was her name right?) almost as long as Matthew was with Ali (4 years). What those girls did to our boys was SO wrong, but it happens. This changed Matthew in a way I never expected. He was such a happy, self confident, knew exactly what and where he was going type of young man (he was 20). When Ali walked out he completely - lost it all. After 2 years he is back to being happy, and his self confidence is soaring, but he is always looking for the ball to drop. Him and Liz are very happy and I see his demeanor healing. But I am so afraid of what the next year is going to bring. Liz will graduate in May and has applied to graduate school in 4 states. She will be gone for at least 4 years working on her Masters, and Matthew keeps saying he will NOT go with her. His career with the Bank is so promising. He will graduate in December and he has been told that his future there is very good. This is so where he wants to be and he really does have a foot in the door with what he wants. Plus he says he will not move any further away from the family. He is now 2 1/2 hours away, which doesn't sound like much but he really does miss things with the family and especially with his niece and nephews. We are a very close family and he doesn't want that to change. We shall see.
My heart so goes out to you - and Kyle. I really do know how you feel. Call me if you need to talk.

I get to watch the boys tomorrow (Elizabeth has to work and Jay has Guards). I am thinking we might go to the pool or at least a nice walk. Doug is going to work on the bedroom. If he doesn't get this done pretty soon I am going to be looking for some freezer space. :sad2: I am sick of this mess!! Sunday we have church and then Marty and Stephanie have asked us for dinner. So a nice weekend is ahead for us.

It has rained 2 nights this week. It has been so nice. This won't help with the crops but my lawn and flowers sure were soaking it all in. The temps. are to be in the lower 90s to upper 80s. It's going to feel down right cool. :rotfl:

Have a great weekend everyone.

Afternoon, everyone! Things here are going well. I've finished all the nitty-gritty details that have to be done before traveling, and I think I'm ready (knock on wood).

Alan skyped me last night to let me know that he has been given tickets to the Harry Potter studio tour for while I'm over there! I'm so excited about that. I had been trying to get tickets, but couldn't quite manage it. So, this is a real bonus! Alan is doing a story on Harry Potter and kids in Utah, so he went to Platform 9 3/4 and the studio for some interviews, and they gave him some complimentary tickets!!! We'll use them after the Olympics are over, and Alan has time to be a tourist!

He also got me a daypass to the International Broadcast Center. So, I'll go to "work" with him one of the days that I'm there. Should be interesting! He's having some amazing experiences! He got to interview (and sing happy birthday to) Ryan Lochte yesterday, and was really star struck! One of the women's volleyball team members is from Utah, so he's been following them for a while, and has developed a new respect for the game.

Jacob got his schedule for 7th grade today, and is so excited! He was placed in his number one elective class, "Mythology". He is so thrilled! He adores Roman and Greek mythology! Did I mention that he's working on his theater merit badge, and one thing he had to do was write a 10 minute one-act play? His choice of subject matter was one of his favorite myths, Perseus and the Gorgon. He wrote it quite well, and then he directed it, with all his cousins in the cast. They performed it for us last week, and I was so proud of him!

Well, I'm babbling now. I'll be here, off and on, until Saturday night when I'll say good bye! I leave early Sunday morning, so I won't have a chance to pop on then. Like I said a couple of days ago, I'll try to keep my facebook page updated with status updates and photos when I can. Until then, you all keep this thread going, you hear!?!

Ellen - Yes, you do know how we are feeling. Thank you for making me feel better about where he is and where he may go with his heart.

Glynis - I hope you have a safe trip and tons of fun!!! I'll be looking for updates on facebook!:thumbsup2

Good Morning!

I am so excited for Glynis! I hope she has no time to check here, too much fun things to do in London. I have been following on FB and am thrilled!

Ellen- Those Grandbabies make the rest of the week worth it, don't they?

Kat- I know that knowing other young men have gotten their hearts broken do not help Kyle but there is a light at the end for him. She will be worth his waiting for :grouphug:

I know I have flooded FB with Deb and the Pan-Mass Challenge but I am so impressed with those folks. There were men and women old enough to be MY parents cycling over 190 miles in grueling temperatures. In the Wind! There was also a young man who had 130 miles on his bike. That was the total of is training for this fundraiser. Deb said he made it the first day, 110 miles total but he was not able on day 2. I cannot believe he pushed through that first day.

Marisa and I were so impressed with all we saw this weekend. Folks lined the roadways to cheer the riders on, cow bells and clappers, upturned buckets and washtub and air horns ans cheers :cheer2: What really made me think was the rows of children's posters :littleangel: at one of the huge water stops. Every team was riding because there was a child who had touched them :littleangel:. Their shirts often had photos of "their" kids and statements that was why they ride. Marisa threatened to ditch me if I cried at every stop.

I know I sing Debbie's praises a lot here but I have to say that she makes my heart sing. She is my Godchild and Kady's Godmother. She is a lot like my sister Gail, I see that all of the time but I also see Marisa's influence in her behaviors. Marisa stayed with Gail for two years while she was in HS. Gail worked nights so Marisa was there and she helped with the kids. Chris and Timmy are close to her but Marisa really impacted the girls. Deb never quits and she is one of the most determined young women I know, except for Risa. :thumbsup2

Morning Ladies,

Glynis ~ I hope you are having a great time. You so deserve it. I can't wait to hear all about it.

Kat ~ You eat at the most interesting places. I loved your food porn on FB. It all looked so good.

Nan ~ I know how proud you are of Debbie. She did an amazing job. I am sure she was thrilled to know you all were cheering her on.

Fun fun weekend. But dang they go so darn fast. I would much rather be home getting all the work done I haven't gotten to for weeks. My house is starting to rebel. I really need to clean but there is always something more fun to do so on the back burner it goes.

Out for now................!

Bethany ~ WooHoo it is so good to see you. I am enjoying your trip report.

Awww, thanks! It's good to see you too! Did you finish Wheat Belly? (It was here you posted that you read it, right?) How is that going for you?

I am glad you're enjoying my TR. I'll be adding more to it this week. I changed the link to it in my signature also.

Kathy - How is Kyle doing? How is your a/c? WHO DAT!

Nancy - That bike race was amazing. 190 miles over two days is a LOT. Deb sounds like a great individual.

I hope Glynis is having a fantastic time in London. I went to Europe in 2000 and don't remember much of London. We only had 3 days there before moving on to Paris, and the jet lag was doing me in. :sad2:

P.S. I am confused. What is the difference between this thread and the WFD thread? I see some of you are posting in both places. I don't know many of the people in the WFD thread. They are new to the thread over the past year or so....is that the difference?
