In and Out in a Day

So glad it's the weekend. I'm going to be dashing in and out for the next week or so. Hope to catch up next weekend!!!

Morning girls,

Robin ~ I love this time of the year. Stephanie showed horses in 4H for many years and Matthew showed calves. I still love going to the shows. Those kiddos are so proud. There is nothing better than the County fair.

Janice ~ Hang in there you will get it all done. Just enjoy the ride for now.

PIO ~ You are so busy - please take care. I don't want you getting sick again. We will be here whenever you can pop in.

Nasty, nasty weather last night. We did get to the fair - and we had a ball. These little county fairs are so much fun. We finally looked at the time and it was 9:00. There was lighting in the sky and by the time we got in the car it was raining. We turned on the radio and we were in a tornado warning. :crazy2: We headed home real fast. It was pretty scary most of the night. No tornados, but 70 mph winds and quarter size hail. No damage thank God!! Today we are in for the same thing. Not fun!!

WFDT ~ chili dogs with cheese (not good for us at all- but oh so good once in awhile) cucumber salad with sliced tomatoes.

Make it a great day all

Janice - I agree with Ellen! It's normal for you to be emotional and cry. Heck, I was a mess. Call if you want to chat.

Becky - That recipe looks delicious! We're really hoping to get into the CG dinner, especially since the remodel! I looked at some pics from last years dinner and it was simply amazing.:cloud9:

Ellen - Glad to hear y'all made it through the bad weather last night.

WFD - Going out for prime rib at this great little place with insanely good steaks/prime rib at ridiculously cheap prices...Crazy Johnnie's!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Good Monday Morning Girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry I was MIA all weekend, but I was on the road....literally! My nieces were in the Pan Mass Challenge so Marisa, Kady and I were there as well. Yes...........we were very noisy enthusiastic fans clapping and cheering them on from Sturbridge to Provincetown, and what a ride! I don't know how much the event raised, but it is a massive undertaking, with 100% of the proceeds going to teh Dana Farber Institute and the Jimmy Fund. I am always in awe of athletes, and their fortitude, but Holy Dedication!!!!!!! There was 5500 riders registered, one of which was a rider who did the run on a Unicycle :faint: Another participant began the run Friday Morning and ran...yes...I said ran the over 200 miles...on foot. He arrived late Sunday afternoon, not too long after teh majority of the riders.

My girls were on bikes for over 200 miles over the course of the weekend, rode back to the starting point for 4 hours, and then had a 5 hour ride home. MY hats off to these volunteers!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope all is well with you. I will be spotty the next few days. Buddy wants to start cutting tomorrow afternoon, and it is difficult to get help after hours. so please wish us well! His continued good health depends on this because I will seriously kill him if things are difficult, he does not manage stress well, :confused3 so he is on shaky ground with me ;)

Happy Monday girls,

Nan ~ I have everything crossed and prayers on the way that everything will go smoothly with the cutting. Patience my friend.....patience. All will be ok.
I followed all weekend with your adventure. BIG kudos to everyone that participated. I was so proud right along with you.

Kat ~ How was the prime rib? Sounds like a place I would love!!

My weekend was not at all the way I had it planned. Stephanie called me late Friday afternoon and wanted to know if we would mind watching Lilly. They had a charity event Friday night and all day on Saturday. They had planned on taking her but were thinking not. Of course we said yes!!! Matthew was going to Kearney to pick up some furniture that Marty and Stephanie had then head right back to Lincoln. Well with them gone he just came home and followed them home on Sunday to get his stuff. So we had a ball this weekend. Didn't really do anything but play with Lilly and we all had fun.

Pastor Dyton takes Mondays off so it is really quiet here this morning. I am used to my Pastor taking Friday's off so this is a real change.

We had a neighbor drop off a 1/2 pickup load of sweet corn last night. So tonight will be a long one getting it all blanched, cut and packaged. But oh so good!!

Saturday ~ we grilled hamburgers, tomato and cucumber salad, sweet corn

Sunday ~ Ham, cheesy potatoes, deviled eggs and yeast rolls

WFDT ~ Ham sandwiches, pasta salad and corn - LOTS OF CORN!!

Make it a great day!!

Ellen- my favorite way to eat corn is corn salad. Cook and cut the corn off 12 ears. Add a diced red pepper, green pepper, half a large red onion. Salt, pepper, apple cider vinegar, and olive oil. It's one of my favorite things to eat in the summer.

Nancy- glad the weekend went well. The weather couldn't have been better.

Kathy- hope you had a good dinner, crazy johnnies sounds like my kind of place.

Has any one heard from glynis lately? I hope all is well with her.

Today is my Monday so I should get going. Have a great day.

Ellen- I am so glad you had some Lily time this weekend! When my own kids were young, I never set aside chores but boy! Did I learn a lesson. I can set anything aside and sit with my girls.
I am going to need luck to get through this season. Buddy had an agreement with a farmer about help, and the guy reneged. This is the second time he went back on part of this agreement. I handled it the last time, but Buddy is not as confrontational as I am, so he brought his temper home. I have decided that if this man does not play nice, he is going to be hauling help next year, I am taking my vehicle back. His wife had to pick the men up and drop them off and that was old after less than one week. Hope they have gas money!

Robin- I thought about you all weekend long. What a beautiful area to live!

So today we start, and hopefully this will go smoothly. Buddy got cross with Marisa yesterday, and that did not go over well. Then he snapped at me...and that really is a problem in the G household. I cook his food........just sayin'

Nancy Sounds like we should get together and buy a freezer together.pirate:

Robinn That corn salad sounds really good. How much vinegar and oil do you use?

Well I think we have finally finished shopping for the big move out and into the dorm. I am all shopped out $$ wise and energy. I hope I can keep it together. Mr A is so excited and I am too it will be a great experience for him. Coming home to an almost empty house will be an adjustment. I joined a book club and might pick up a part time job. I need to pay for those student loans :scared::crazy2::faint:

This weekend I am having some family and some of Mr A's friends over before he goes off. I need to get my house in company clean mode.

Janice- yes, I think a freezer is a good investment! I will bethinking of you in the coming weeks, it is not going to be easy.

Oh sweetie - I SO hear ya. Part of your problem is what others are doing. I am so like you and Doug is so like Bud. He only confronts me - never the person that he is suppose to. Like I told Janice - I will go in on some freezer space. Doug is on thin ice right now!!!

Thanks so much for the recipe - THAT is what I am fixing for dinner. Sounds so good!!

I have seen Glynis on FB. I just think she is really busy right now. All seems to be fine.

Can I go in with you girls on the freezer space. Doug is driving me nuts. I swear that man has PMS!!! There isn't one thing right now that I am happy with him about. 'NUFF said!!!
Hang in there sweetie. We have all been there and you can fall apart if you want to. Doesn't mean at all that you aren't excited for Mr. A. Change is hard - I don't care what anyone says. Call if you want!!

Just for the record - I have NOT seen the sun since I have gotten home from Panama. This girl needs the sun or I might just strangle something. It is still hot hot hot so let's just say it is down right muggy. We are to get some strong storms again tonight.

I was able to get 10 quarts of corn froze last night. I will do the rest tonight. I love to can/freeze - makes me feel so good knowing it is there ready for the snow to fly. Sometimes I just go to the freezer or the panty and just look at it. Weird I know but it does make me happy. Yes I am a dork!!!

Girls, I need an opinion - I am thinking of trying Weight Watchers online. I would like to lose 15 - 20 pounds. Have any of you have done this or tried it? I really appreciate any advise you have.

WFDT ~ Grilled pork chops, corn salad and yellow squash.

Make it a great day!!

Ellen- I have never tried the online WW. My Sis IL has, but now they come to her work.

You're in the freezer pool! I generally get annoyed just on principle, but Holy Moly! Bud is driving me to drink!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He told me he is taking tomorrow off so he can "Rest". I said "Rest?" "Yes, you know sleep in." The man has not slept past 3:30 in years! I wanted him to take a day off to visit Nola and Rylee at the beach and he couldn't. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Hello ladies. Hanging in here, sometimes feels like by one last fingernail. :faint: So much to do in the next few weeks to get ready for school and it seems that I am constantly running behind.

I was supposed to go to visit my brother and his family this month but just can't, too much to do, and I am really not supposed to take off this month anyway.

Speaking of fairs we went to our county fair on Sunday. It was me, BFF, the two nieces, youngest godson, another friend and her DS. The kids ended up riding The Fire Ball at least 20 times, then they all complained they had headaches. I guess if you spend half your time upside down your head would hurt. :rotfl:

We had our traditional deep fried Oreo's and also had fries, ice cream and snow cones. This year I decided to stay away from the carnival company places and stick to the local places. The Oreo's are done by one of the local high school's and we tried the fries from another one. Pretty tasty, hand cut, not frozen. The snow cones came from the volunteer fire station booth and the ice cream was from the Lions. They have a building there, which I have never gone into for some strange reason, and they had the best prices on ice cream and bottled drinks.

Buddy is on as thin ice as Doug is. It just amazes me how much our hubby's are alike. Bud sounds exactly like Doug. I loved it when you said "you generally get annoyed just on principle" YEA I hear that!! :thumbsup2

Marilyn ~ I have always wanted to try the fried oreos, but just haven't gotten there yet. Our State Fair starts August 23 - September 2. We always try to get there a couple of times. They have them there and I might just bite the bullet this year and try them. Everyone says they are really good.
You are so busy and your busiest time hasn't even started yet. Good grief girl!!

Robin ~ Your corn salad was a BIG hit last night. Doug loved it and so did I. So much so that I fixed enough for tonight. I agree it will now be a summer staple at my house. Thanks so much!!

Still no sun, but at least today it is to rain. Somehow that makes it better. If it is going to be cloudy it needs to rain. We can sure use it, but the corn and beans are really needing some hot sun also. The temps are still hot and just plain muggy. YUCK!!

I got the corn completely finished last night. In all I got 18 quarts and 12 pints. That hopefully will be enough for us, Stephanie, Matthew and Doug's Dad. Elizabeth did her own over the weekend. So we should be set!!

Now bring on the beans, apples, chokecherries, grapes and cucumbers. I can't wait!!

WFDT ~ grilled turkey burgers, corn salad, sliced cantaloupe and chips.

Make it a great day!!

That sounds really good. The corn has been so sweet this year.

Girls, I need an opinion - I am thinking of trying Weight Watchers online. I would like to lose 15 - 20 pounds. Have any of you have done this or tried it? I really appreciate any advise you have.

I have not done Weight Watchers, but I wanted to suggest another option that I am using: fitbit. My husband and I bought them back in March, I think. It's a tracking device that you wear that monitors your steps, floors climbed, and calories burned. It syncs to your computer or tablet and keeps a running tally on your activity. You can add your food and it will calculate how many calories you have left to eat that day. You can also manually input activity other than the steps and stairs and it will give you credit/calories. There are online fourms for it and you can compete with others, but John and I have our sets to private, we only compete with each other.

There's a special scale you can buy that works with the fitbit. When it weighs you it sends your weight and body fat percentage to your fitbit account. You earn badges for activity as well as weight loss.

John has lost 25 pounds and I have lost 12. John's only got about 5 more pounds to lose to hit his final goal. I would like to lose 15 more pounds. It's been a very gradual weight loss for me which I feel good about because I think I have a better chance of keeping the weight off. I had to throw away one of my belts this week because even at the furthest hole the belt was still too big.

Anyway, just another option.

WFD: going to Laura's. She is grilling flatbreads, I think.

Hi y'all,

Just popping in to say hello, work is crazy busy so I will catch up with all of you when the weekend comes, hopefully!!

Happy Thursday Peeps!!

Becky ~ I like your idea. I have looked into it. I just might try it. Thanks so much for the advice, I really appreciate it.

Kat ~ Take care!! We will be here when you can pop in.

OK I am serious!!! It is another gray, drizzly, and dark day out. I am not liking this at all. I NEED to see the sun. I wouldn't even complain with some heat.

I can't believe that this time next week school will be in session. Where did the summer go? But I had an ephinay the other day. This is the first time in 27 years that I don't and won't have a child starting school. Wow, that is a weird feeling.......makes me feel SO old.

WFDT ~ Grilled pork chops, corn on the cob, pickled beets and a green salad.

Make it a great day!!

 Hi all. Been a busy couple of weeks. We had a Japanese exchange student staying with us and it's been go go go. Sadly, it's also meant that I've put on MORE weight. We've been eating out a lot.

So, I'm back on the straight and narrow for the next 5 weeks. Yup, holiday coming up and with it....the obligatory weight loss activity! :faint:

Good morning ladies! Weight!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! I am like the rest of you, constantly battling between eating the food I want to cook, and the clothes that keep staring at me.

Ellen- I remember that day that no one started school. I hated it! Yup- Buddy is on very thin ice. I threatened to poison him and no one objected ;), he is that cranky.

Marilyn- I love fried oreos. I can only eat one, but it is so good! Fair Food! YUM!!!!!!!
Now hear this Missy! You can only do so much and that is it. You are going to wear yourself out!

Kat- you are busy, but the F&W is looming as a light at the end of the tunnel! :thumbsup2

Becky- I am so proud of you! That is a lot of weight to lose and to do it in a manner that makes you keep it off is impressive!

Holy Rain! it is pouring here, but I think that is good for these old bones. I am sore! I do have to work a bit today, but at least I don't need to go help Buddy. I usually just go, btu I have been helping and it HURTS! Yesterday morning I tried to get up off of the sofa, and fell off :upsidedow And yes.........Buddy was walking in the room and was totally amused. But when he told me I probably need more of this....Well....it was a good thing he starts work very very early ;)

I have to brag a bit about Kady. She is 11 and is very conscientious about doing extras and earning her own money. For about 4 years she has been at the field and "helps" and she does whatever she is asked to do, but this year she is a rock star! That child is holding her own with teen aged boys and some grown men. And is outpacing her Nana :lmao:. I am going to post some pics on FB, but you will have a hard time seeing her face in some. She is a shortie, so I tried to catch her "hooking" but she is not tall enough to be seen over the tobacco rack. This makes the job really hard, but she is doing it.

I have my Princesses for a little bit this morning before they go to Risa's They hate to shop with their Momma!. :) BBL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quick check in, I need to get going.

Ellen- I'm glad you liked the corn salad. Because of arthritis in my jaw I can't have corn on the cob, but with that corn salad I don't feel like I'm missing out.

Janice- I probably use about 1/2 cup of vinegar and 1/3 cup of oil, one of those things I don't measure.

Nancy- bragging is always welcome. There's nothing like a good work ethic.

I really need to go, see you all later.

Robin Thanks for the measures. Sorry to hear about your jaw. That is probably my most used body part. :rotfl:

Nan Buddy just doesn't know when he is ahead does he? I am glad Kady is earning her keep.:thumbsup2. I remember when I was Kady's age working for my Grandfather, those are the greatest memories

Well Ladies, It is getting to be crunch time. The next few days are going to be more busy then usual. We move Mr A in on Thursday.
