After buying sight unseen (except for some online photos and DVC sales lit) last June,DH and I made our first trip home last week. We spent one night in a studio at BWV and went on the DCL then came back to stay 3 nights at our home resort VWL.
Service: It was very good, we were taken care of promptly at both BWV and VWL. We were welcomed home at both locations, and made to feel as important as someone staying on cash ressies.
The studio at BWV was not the non smoking that was requested (it was my only request) but after a long travel day (we arrived at 5:30pm) we didn't want to go to the hassle of being moved. If it had been for more than one night I would have taken the time.
We were not given the sheet listing DVC discounts at BWV but were at VWL.
The VWL was as requested non-smoking and upper floor (4).
Since we arrived way before check-in at VWL (10am) we knew we wouldn't get a room then but went ahead and got the car valet parked and had our luggage held until we came back at 5pm.We were given a card if we wanted to call and check for a room readyness but had to come back anyway for a priority seating at 6pm for WCC. Bell service was prompt and good. At VWl we were asked one time if we were DVC when we valet parked. AT BWV we were asked once. ( we valeted both places 3 times each).
We never had room service or maid service so cannot comment there.
CM's in all the shops and resturants at the resorts were freindly and helpful, no loss of Disney Magic here!
Resorts: BWV was very pretty in a good location, the studio was in good condition but the outside is looking worn. However we did notice there is painting going on aroung the Boardwalk. The paint outside was faded and peeling in places. Our room faced the parking lot and was not scenic but that didn't bother us as we were there just that evening. We enjoyed the ability to get to Epcot on foot and found the boardwalk entertainment to be fun. We spent two hours there after Epcot closed on 1/19. We really enjoyed Carlo and his sword balancing act and the 4 guys in baseball uniforms playing the horns(?) In the morning we ate at the Boardwalk bakery and the food there was good. Checkout was smooth with express check out.
The pool area looked nice and the lobby is very pretty too I like the porches with rocking chairs and the radio room inside.
VWL was in excellent condition as it is still fairly new. I liked the decorations here and didn't feel the decor was too dark. We have stayed in a standard room at WL and feel the decor is darker there. We were in a one bedroom villa which was really too big for two people but it was nice to spread out and I like the layout of the baths. The kitchen was well stocked and I was suprised to see that we were given a packet of coffee for each day not just the first. We were given several packets of dishwasher detergent too. Having a washer/dryer was nice! The pools we really enjoyed, whatever problem they had must have been fixed. We found it relaxing and not too far to walk to WL for anything we needed. We were going to the pool one night and got to see the EWP from the beach area. We think they did a good job of making the villas feel different but still tie in with the theming of WL. Having been to Yellowstone alot and stayed at both Mammoth Lodge and Old Faithful Inn several times we really enjoyed the artwork around the Villas that are so similar to artwork found there. DH found himself bracing for cool morning air several times when he opened the balcony door because the surroundings remind us so much of Colorado/ Wyoming!
All in all we are very happy with our purchase and are glad VWL is our home resort because of the memories of other trips it gives us plus the peaceful relaxed feeling there. You would never know you were in the heart of WDW! After a day of crowds and noise it is exactly what we want. We could stay there and never go in a park and be content. The one error I found on my express check out (overcharged $50.24 at Le Cellier)was handled quickly at the desk at WL.
I will be back in March with my two daughters and DD's boyfriend in March.
