The Bidadari Christian Cemetery is situated on State Land Lots 41-5, 41-7 and 42-8 Mk 24 at the junction of Upper Serangoon Road and Upper Aljunied Road. It is an old burial ground dating back to 1908 and has been closed for burial since November 1972.
As the area is affected by high density housing and other public developments, the Housing & Development Board (HDB) will undertake the exhumation of the Cemetery.HDB had on 30 March 2001, 29 June 2001, 28 September 2001 and 28 December 2001 published the Notices inviting next-of-kin/descendants to register their claim of ancestors' graves. Those who have registered with HDB will be informed individually of the date of the exhumation of their ancestors' graves.
HDB has appointed an experienced contractor to carry out the exhumation. Each grave will be exhumed individually under the supervision of a Government Officer who will ensure that the exhumation is carried out with respect and dignity. The exhumed remains will be cremated individually and the ashes will be placed in niches provided for in the Government Choa Chu Kang Columbarium. There will be no charge of services provided by HDB.
Claimants may arrange to keep the cremated remains at places of their own choice (e.g. private columbaria, churches or own home) at their own cost.
If claimants do not wish to have the exhumed remains cremated, they must arrange to export the exhumed remains to their respective home countries for reburial at their own cost. All unclaimed remains will be exhumed by HDB and the cremated remains will be scattered at sea.
This Final Notice is to inform interested next-of-kin/descendants who have not yet registered their claim to do so by completing the Registration Form and return it to HDB by post, or by fax. All Registration Forms should reach HDB by the extended deadline 31 May 2002.
This Notice and more detailed information on the exhumation are given in our website at
