I went to Disneyland last week and my sister and her DBF upgraded their 2Fers to APs and opted for the payment plan.

The CM informed us that if someone opts for the payment plan then they are bound to that contract and are not able to upgrade to a higher AP later in the year. She said it's best for you to pick the AP you will want in the future and do the payment plan on that AP.

Hope this prevents anyone from doing something they regret.

That's not correct and it is unfortunate the CM is giving out such wrong information.

They are bound to the payment plan terms, but they can still upgrade. The upgrade difference, however, has to be paid in full. It cannot be rolled into the payment plan.

So if somebody buys a Deluxe at $17 a month and wants to upgrade to a Premium, they have to pay the $120 in full, and the payments will continue to be $17/month.

I got one for Calvin and they said that I am bound to the contract but if I wanted an upgrade for him that I had to pay the difference between the upgrade and the original passport. I then continue paying for the cheaper one's monthly even though he would have a deluxe passport.

Well, I feel a bit embarrassed. I should have checked my source...*grumble* stupid cm *grumble*

What the CM said is correct that you are bound to the agreement and cannot change the terms. That means you are still stuck paying for the lesser passport. As I stated they can upgrade by paying the difference.

The CM was not stupid and you merely misunderstood.

:teacher:Let us assume you paid for a deluxe and want to be premium. You would be bound to the contract to pay for the deluxe passport and could not start paying the monthly fee for the annual passport. If you are paying $20 and then you upgrade you cannot change the monthly payment to $30 a month for premium. You would pay the difference to upgrade which would be nearly $100 and continue to pay the $17 a month. You cannot upgrade the contract but you can upgrade the passport.

You thought he meant that when you got the deluxe on the payment plan that you could not upgrade at all.

The above is for explanation and amounts are probably wrong and does not imply anyone got a certain passport but is merely showing how the confusion occurred.

The CM should have made it clear that she CAN upgrade, just she (or whoever) would have to pay the difference. From the way Cristabel explained the CM explained to them, I would think the same, that you cannot upgrade at all and you are stuck with the AP level you purchased.

It seemed like the CM misunderstood her instructions, not Cristabel and her family.

This is a common trend for DLR CMs to each know something different, I'm really not surprised.

That's exactly what happened. The CM did not mention anything whatsoever about being able to upgrade but having to pay the difference on the spot.

Is the payment plan only available for California residents or everyone?
