This is the last of the dining reports, I promise! LOL

Sunrise Safari Breakfast (held in a private room at the Tusker House, AK)
I'd heard that this was really a nice breakfast .. and I'd sure heard right! It's beautifully presented on a long table and several smaller tables, and the chef came out to give explanations, as well as there being several CM's available should you have any questions during the meal. The items were a mix of traditional American style breakfast foods and some African inspired specialties, and included: minted cantaloupe, pineapple, honeydew & grapes; biscuits & gravy; scrambled eggs with 3 cheeses, seasoned ground beef, peppers & onions; fried eggs with marinated green tomatoes (particularly good!); banana stuffed french toast; corn cakes; fish cakes; bacon, ham, sausage - pork & beef; potatoes with onions & peppers; strawberries; apple cobbler; dried fruit compote; bagels; coffee cake; danish; kielbasa (sp?); cheese & more fresh fruits; french rolls; caraway rolls; coffee, tea, milk, a "wild orange" juice that was fantastic!, and regular oj also.

Boma (AKL) Dinner
There were so many items here that I'm NOT sure I got them all! LOL but I tried.
Soups that night were: Mulligatawny (good!); Oxtail (fair); Saffron Rice (VERY good) and Moroccan Seafood Stew (a bit too sweet for me) Salads were: Watermelon rind (mmm!!); couscous (excellent); black eyed pea (good); fruit salad in port (ok); pasta (good); kloo slaw (good); fish salad; grapefruit/avocado & melon salad; mixed green salad with choices of chili-cilantro dressing (GOOD!), apple vinagrette, mango vinagrette (my fav) or balsamic vinagrette; potato salad.
There were flat breads (great!) and some other breads too. On the rotisserie was pumpkin seed/pistachio/sesame & peanut crusted mahi mahi - VERY GOOD!!, chicken (also great), pork (good), ribs & prime rib. They ran out of prime rib, and while I don't eat it, I heard several people complaining and frankly, I didn't blame them! There was also saffron rice, lentil salad, creamed spinach casserole, mashed squash, vegetable couscous, white polenta w/sundried tomatoes, tamarind bbq sauce, a white bean hummus (SO good!), spicey ketchup sauce.
The desserts were (and .. ok, I'm weird! but .. I didn't think the Zebra Domes were as great as everyone else does! LOL I'm sorry!!) : of course, Zebra Domes, pumpkin cheesecake (loved it!), chocolate mousse crunch (my fav!), keylime tarts, banana bread pudding, fruit on phyllo dough with vanilla sauce (MMMM!!!), 3 types of cookies, apple cake and pineapple cake.

Boma (AKL) Breakfast
There were 2 types of flatbread breakfast pizza - one with eggs, onion, celery .. I didn't have this since I don't like onions, but I did have one with eggs, cheeses, tomato & turkey and it was excellent! In fact, probably the best breakfast pizza I've ever had! There was also: chicken/apple sausage (did NOT like this); ham, bacon & turkey; 2 different "bushman's skillets" - one with corned beef, scrambled eggs & potatoes shredded - great!!, and one with sunnyside up fried eggs, potato chunks, and peppers .. 'ok' not great to me. More things included: an omelet station; grits, oatmeal, cream of wheat, bagels, toast, sour cream coffee cake, pecan cinnamon rolls, cherry danish, apple and cheese danish, banana nut bread, bran muffins, waffles, french toast, asstd fruits, asstd cold cereal.

Well, that FINALLY wraps up my dining reports! LOL I'm sorry they were so long, but I try to be thorough, because it's always been a big help to me to read detailed accounts of other people's experiences. I have probably left out some things on all of these buffets! LOL but I tried! If anyone has any questions that I haven't answered, just feel free to ask!

Hi IMBE! Glad you enjoyed yourself. Food is a big part of my vacation so lengthy food reports really interest me too! I got the impression that your breakfast at Tusker House was kind of a buffet sort of thing because of the long table part of your review but the menu board shows the menu to be like this:

Ham, egg and cheese croissant with hash browns $5.25
Sausage or bacon and egg biscuit with hash browns $4.95
Fruit Plate $4.50
Cereal with milk $1.99
Cinnomon Roll $2.75
Muffins $1.75
Danish $1.75

Does that sound right? Maybe I chose the wrong one???

Thanks so much for all of your reports. Based on your experiences with the crowds at Bomba I am calling right away for PS.
Since we are staying at AKL I hadn't planned on making PS for there and assumed we could just call ahead when we decided to go.
I do have PS for Jiko and we are really looking forward to this one!
Thanks again. : )

The buffet at Tusker House is only for those who go on the Sunrise Safari for Concierge guests at AKL Concierge. It is fantastic.

Oh noooooo, you have GOT to have PS for Boma I think! LOL Honestly!
In fact, there was a couple in line in front of us when I was waiting to check in to Boma, and I got to talking with them. They didn't have PS for Boma, and were told 1 1/2 to 2 HOUR wait time!! They looked kind of upset, so I got their attention and pointed them across the hall to Jiko, told them how great it was and in they went. Just by chance, I happened to see them later in the hotel, and they approached me & thanked me, telling me how much they loved the meal!

Thanks for the quick answer LisaPooh. I've already got everything planned out for this Oct's trip but not for Jan so maybe I can look into AKL Concierge for then. Did I read that you had to have a minimum stay of 2 nights in AKL Concierge or can you stay just one to take advantage of the Sunrise Safari?
