I am throwing away my very first found object art I completed in college. The glass broke in the storage box in the far corner of the shed...did not blend with sw theme in our home. Life is throwing me hard knocks, so time to jettison stuff as I have no children to leave my history. Sophomore year in college, bachelor living, washed all these brand new towels, different colors....the lint accumulated in the dryer tray....same color...also used a dryer sheet, the old variety of the 70s, so saved the lint tray finds and made a rainbow of the lint and one dryer sheet...entered it into the campus wide art show, stillhas the the entry sheet, I called the art Cling free.

yep....wife is finding that out the hard way...we have four boxes of three generations of photographs and paper history stored in the far dark corner of the shed...her two kids want none of it...whereas I would have cherished paper history of my folks.

well....being a child of my third wife was not fun...so her son not interested in a family and daughter had rough and tumble. so she only had one. and the grandson was rough and tumble....so sometimes family history should just be dust. Even with wife siblings, they don't want photos, nor do they foster good father relationships. It happens... many estate sales have boxes of photos and scrapbooks. lucky for me.....as you can read....I write and write. so my younger sister has my ten boxes (fruit store boxes) of journals and scrapbooksa and sketch books and notebooks...since I was 20. plus all the letters I received and rough drafts of letters I wrote. My collection could be a rare Americana of a blue collar raised renaissance man. who wanted to write the American novel .....and perhaps I did in those 10 boxes. .... alas.... now is the time to cue Harry Chapin Taxi

I have a first cousin twice removed who is interested in family history and has been texting me about our common relatives. Neither my sons, nor grandchildren have asked me as many questions. So, perhaps my father’s people will be remembered.

* I owned a angus cow and she gave me two angus calves....none of them were silent and at auction paid for my freshman dorm living.

*route 66 is 3 hours north of Yuma. Oatman basically the last scenic stop. I tell folks on the californina visit thread that need to leave needles and head south to the London bridge, Parker canyon and Algondones, Mexico.

I’ll be cooking the side dishes for a Turkey we are sharing with my sister’s family today. She’s fixing the Turkey, we’ll meet up on the porch to share the food. She and her honey have other plans for Thanksgiving day, so we celebrate today! We will be eating in our own homes, doing FaceTime.
