I just posted a reponse to your AAA thread.....I wanted to let you know that you are not the first person on the website to request the AAA parking card.
I know this for a fact as I had one last year that I could not use and I mailed it to another DISer.

I'm on the Uk boards all the time but often pop over the water to see what the latest topic you guys are discussing is, I must admit I'm sometimes aghast at the amount of plain nasty and spiteful posts that are aimed at people ( I'm not reffering to the op's AAA post in particular) whilst I DO often join in with the US discussions and have had friendly and helpful comments from (amongst others) Kaylajr, Dan Murphy, Rickinnyc, safetymom and many more I am still surprised that there are people who want to use a family orientated discussion board to get cruel!

Maybe it's PMS- I had it bad the other day - I didn't even dare Dis- wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. Poor DH got the brunt of it - much better today

Hey, I'm the (I think becoming infamous) Monica Lewinsky thread poster. I was really really mad last night too and I posted that thread out of anger and hurt. In a way I wish I wouldn't have b/c it was emotional and now I've had my first "dis fight" but then in another way I realized how many cool and nice people there are on here. Hang in there, I'm glad that I did, fight and all.

Seems to go in cycles here.. Sometimes people are just having a bad day.. Sometimes there is something going on in their RL that is very upsetting and their frustrations come out here.. Sometimes people are kidding around and someone takes it seriously..

But sadly, there are also the "few" who ALWAYS have something nasty to say - just for the "fun" of being nasty..

As long as the "majority" are nice, I wouldn't allow myself to be run off by the "minority"..

There is no reason to go out of the way to be nasty. However, there are people who post threads or make posts on threads that simply open themselves to attack due to the content or tone of their posts. I went back and looked at the OP's posts for the entire time on the DIS and I must say that I understand why a few (and I emphasize a VERY FEW) may have lent themselves to legitimate criticism. But they were very much exceptions. That said, we all need to realize that there are human beings behind all of our computers. We as posters should always read two or three times what we intend to post, regardless of whether we are starting or responding to a thread.

I wholeheartedly agree that things can get very nasty very quickly here. I am involved in another thread that had a really interesting discussion going. Now there is a "know it all" who keeps posting and is very condescending to everyone and their thoughts. It's sad really.

I'm sorry you feel this way Poutytink. I too have seen pretty benign threads go haywire by someone who just flips out for no reason. I had posted a thread about this topic a couple of months back. We all have differing opinions, but why go balistic? I think Dis is for fun/information/sharing stories/asking questions why be so mean? It does seem though, to be a minority. The majority of the people are fun and sweet.
