I'm very annoyed with Verizon right now...UPDATE Post #25

Thanks all - I have more to check in to now!

We just cancelled all of our accounts with Verizon. we were without DSL for 11 days and they lied. first they said they were here at 1130 and there was no one home, which is a lie, then they said there were trying to fix it from the office. the girl on the phone was a condescending B word. i called all of our accounts with them. they need to train their customer service reps better and fire the awful ones. I would never deal with them again.

I had this happen to me recently. I bought a new freezer from Sears and the shipping charge was refundable. It was refunded as a Mastercard Debit card. I didn't know I could go to the bank and cash it out. Does anybody know if Mastercard as well as the Visa card be cashed out at the bank?

we got two rebates and were never told they would be visa debit cards. i just used them for a purchase that was for more than the card's value and paid the remaining amount due. i chose wal-mart because i always spend too much there.

The aggravation continues..........

We got our bill & it was much higher than anticipated. Upon going over it we realize that there were additional charges incurred & we couldn't understand why.

DH makes a phone call to Verizon Wireless & here's how it goes......

--First, for Internet usage which 2 of us signed up for is $15 each per month, which we were told, however, if you want to check e-mail (which is the reason we got it & were told we could do this) it is $5 per month additional for a data fee. Never told about this $5 data fee per phone.

--Next, the rep in the store never actually put the Internet service on my phone, meaning I was charged for each Megabyte I used every time I checked my e-mail.

--On 2 of my DD's phones there were charges for downloads. They are teens & claimed they didn't download anything, but we all know how that goes. It was strange though that they were each charged $1.99 for a download. After asking more questions to find out exactly when these downloads took place, it seems they were done IN THE STORE at the time of purchase.

Bottom line, my DH was on the phone with them for over an hour & was then disconnected. No one ever called him back. He waited for about 4 hours to cool off & then called back. Another hour on the phone. He was not a happy camper.

Bottom line, all charges were reversed & we actually got credit for the entire month for our troubles. We were not looking to get out of paying the bill, just wanted to make right what was done wrong & express our displeasure in the service, mainly at the store.

We'll wait to see now if they really do a full credit on our next bill/statement.

I just received the Visa debit card from Verizon last week and the information that was sent with it said that you could call a number and receive a check instead. I didn't pay too much attention because I figured I'd just use it like a debit card and not worry about it, and unfortunately I already threw the information away (and used the card up!)

Per our current 2-year contract, 4 out of our 5 phones were able to be replaced today.

We went to the Verizon store & chose 4 phones, all with substantial rebates. I began filling out the rebate forms at home & while reading them I realized that these "rebates" are in the form of a debit Visa card. I was so angry, because never once was it explained that these are not cash rebates, but debit card rebates. If we would have ordered the phones on line, as we have done in the past, we would have gotten an instant rebate.

The only reason we didn't order them on line is because we have had so many problems with 2 of the 4 phones that we just wanted to get them as soon as we could. Neither of the phones mentioned above will charge & one of them won't even make or accept phone calls - it will only text. Both of these phones have been returned more than once over the last 20 months because of problems (they are the LG Chocolate)

So, DH placed a call to Verizon to ask about what the deal was & why the store rebate was not presented to us honestly. Got the run around, of course. We put all the phones on our credit card, with the intention of using the rebates to pay for them when they came in.

We were told 2 different things............

#1 - we could get a cash advance through the ATM & then use the cash to pay for the phones. I have never even heard of this & I don't want to be charged to use the ATM with 4 different debit cards.

#2 - we could take the VISA debit cards to the bank & deposit them in to our account. Has anyone ever done this? I have never heard of this either.

We could pay our Verizon bill with them, but our intent was to pay the VISA bill with the rebates. What a pain in the neck.

I'm really upset about the fact that the sales rep never mentioned it was a debit card & not a cash rebate. There were 5 of us there & not one person remembers her saying this.

Anyone ever used a VISA debit card in one of the 2 ways mentioned above?

I do realize that we could return the phones & just order them on line, but what a hassle & what a waste of our time. I would have done that originally had I been told the rebate was not a cash rebate in the form of a check.

Forgot to add - I did check to see if I could pay my VISA card on-line with the VISA debit card and at this point I can not.

...and this is just PART of the reason that I wil never, never, never, EVER go back to Verizon....

We had Verizon once and hated it! Every month we had to call to fix our bill because it was always calculated wrong. The amount of weird stuff that happened with them was mind-boggling - sooo glad we aren't customers anymore!

I totally know the aggravation you guys are going through. Hang in there. :goodvibes
