I'm tired of people who can't stick to plans

Don't you hate it when you make plans with someone and they change their mind for no apparent reason at the last minute? I have so many friends and family like this. I think it is SOOOO rude. You make plans. You rearrange your schedule. You get all ready and then guess what? "Yeah, I guess I just don't feel like going" or whatever the excuse is. I can't stand people like this and I'm tired of making plans with people who do this to me all the time. :furious:

Yes. I am dealing with that a lot these days. I have several freinds who will flake at the last minute, not return phone calls on the day of plans. I've got a few friends who will always have to see what else is going on before making plans. Not work schedules mind you, they just want to see if anything better comes up.

My solution is to stop calling them for plans, to stop inviting them anywhere. If they want to make plans they can call me. I also won't count on them to keep their plans.

I've told one girl that I would go shopping with her, call me at x time on x date (the time/day she wants to go) and I'd meet her at the store. She has yet to call; but wonders why I stopped trying to make plans with her. I told her it was because she has yet to follow through on anything and I am tired of being flaked on.

I don't deal well with that. I would let that happen once or twice and then stop making plans with them. Period.

I understand your frustration completely but we have friends that insist on making plans for a simple dinner out or a movie, weeks, sometimes months in advance. They are "very busy people." The problem for us is that DH's job (he works in politics) requires him to work some last nights, attend last minute functions etc. so making plans that far in advance rarely works for us. I hate to cancel but sometimes we have no choice and our friends are less than understanding. It's hard...we do better with friends that are either in similar career situations or are fine with making plans on Thursday for dinner on Saturday.

That would be infuriating! I think I would try one more time, then let that be that. I'm also sick of people who can't run on time. I can handle 5-10 minutes, but I have a friend who's always horridly late, and with seemingly no good reason. We were going to lunch Friday and she rolled up 20 minutes behind--she came to DH's b-day 45 minutes late. I honestly don't want to hang out with her too much anymore.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves. I cant' stand it when someone flakes out on plans. I can understand the occasional flake out, or it something comes up. But there are some people out there who can never follow through for nothing. I have a pretty tight schedule and dont have a lot of spare time. So if I make plans, that time is spoken for. But some of my frienda and family just dont get it. Thats why in my day planner I have two ways of putting things in. Pen is for the things that I know I will be doing and people I will be doing something with. And then pencil is for whatever I plan to do with flakes. Its much easier to erase than to scratch out.

Ugh I HATE that. I am always telling people to stop being so unreliable! If someone wants to know if I'll do something I get back to them in a timely matter and if I say I'm going to do something then I do it. No exceptions.

Sorry that's happening to you. It sucks.

I have a now "ex-friend" who did that all the time. No matter what plans we made, she would change them. With her I think it was a control issue, because thats just the type of personality she has.

I finally got fed up with it. Told her about it and she didn't like it. Oh well, no big loss.
