I'm tired of people picking on other people on this board What happened to a board where people can come write and leave their worries behind them.It just seems the only thing you here on this board anymore is mean things. It just makes me want to cry This is the dis boards not the come and be mean boards. So here's a challenge everyone who wants to say something nice say right now It can be about someone or about one of your day's in Disney. So quit the nonsense and bring back the happy thoughts

I do agree that from the time I first joined this board till now, I have seen a change of how some people's reactions are, but there are times that people need to vent and there are controversial topics-that's why I miss having the debate board around. Not for myself, but so those people are able to go there and do what they need to do not here on the community board.

I think the problem is that people have different ways of communicating. What one person considers 'mean', is what another person considers blunt/to-the-point/forthright/honest. It is impossible to always know the intent of the person posting.

I think the only real solution is to ignore posts that make you (general you) uncomfortable and enjoy what you DO like on the boards.

I've noticed it since the DB vanished. I can't help going in some of those threads. Then they get my blood boiling. Now even when a usual DB type poster posts something other than a debate, I expect it to be a debate! Why don't I just block them all? I did it with 2 yesterday.

For example, one may take the OP of this thread as an insult and critical. (I don't think that was the intention of the OP, though)

However, it is sometimes just as annoying reading threads that criticize many of the posters here (in general) as reading threads that turn into personal insults...

What I like about these boards is how most people are so helpful. Whether it is a reminder to install the latest Windows update or a heads up when the next batch of WDW discounts are being releases, you are sure to get the right information at the right time! You can look for advice and are certain to get points of view from wide variety of people, many of which have different opinions than your own. It's a comfort to know that most people here are not judgmental and even when their view is different than yours, you will not be personally attacked. On the rare occasions that a post turns 'personal', people will defend you or the moderators will do their best to defuse the situation.

I guess that I'm pretty thick-skinned because very few of the posts bother me. I think that in any situation where a lot of people congregate, there's going to be insults made and people who take it all way too seriously. I also tend to think that most "insults" aren't really meant.

I think it's really cool, as one of the Teen Dis members you have empathy for people and posters of the DIS. I bet in RL, as on the DIS, you have compassion for others and look for the good things in life. I commend you for that! I also think it's cool that you want to come here and relax, have fun, like maybe most, if not all of us, want to.

Because there are so many of us, with so many different opinions and personalities, these sort of "scuffles" if you will, happen occasionally. They've been happening ever since I've been here, long before the DB was closed. Innocent threads can turn into some of the most "knock down, drag out" fights you've ever seen! Honest to Pete, I've seen huge fights over things like "When at WDW, do you think the toilet paper should go over or under the roll?" (people were accused of being theives and all kind of things on that thread ), and whether or not you should leave your shoes on or take your shoes off in someone elses house!

I think if you want to see things more light hearted around here, that's very cool! Start some light hearted threads and I'm sure lots and lots of people will join in with you.

But psssst. I'll let you in on a little secret. *whispers* Most people don't like being told to "quit the nonsense" from anyone, not even the moderators, that's kind of a condescending thing to say.

Now for my nice post ... I love The Great Movie ride in The Studios. I could sit on that ride and go around for about 10 times before wanting to get off. That's how I feel about the "lazy river" at Blizzard Beach too, but I could stay in that all day! I heard Typhoon Lagoon is even better!

Not as easy as it sounds as so many threads start out being non-controversial but then get hijacked. I really like the people that tell you right in the subject line if it is a debate topic. That way I know what I'm getting into.

Some of the posts that have caused issues lately have not been DB type posts and have not been sidetracked by DB regulars. It has always happened on the CB to some extent. There is a lot of history between some posters. There has always been undertones, innuendo and baiting. It is just more obvious now .
I would also assume that politics were part of the CB during the last election. Current events always surface.

I believe Maggie (Saffron) explained it wonderfully. Join in and have fun. When I see a thread going in a nasty direction I simply hit the back button. I come here for entertainment and enjoyment. I enjoy the political threads when people are actually supporting their position without knocking everyone elses position.

There is plenty here for all to enjoy.

Agree with Saffron too. Recently, there hasn't really been too many light threads, but in this election year, I see more debate type threads.
