I finally called and got the ressies for the WL! For months I was agonizing between staying at the WL or the Poly. WL won out because it is a bit cheaper, and we might go concierge.

The CM at CRO was WONDERFUL! Her name was Foster, I believe, we talked for a half an hour! She requested for me Bunk beds and put me at a higher room so that I can see the water pageant. We are getting a courtyard view. The only problem is I forgot to request an inside room. Is that what everyone said to get for the best view? Should I call back and request it?

This is the weird thing, and I didn't realize it until after I hung up. When the ressies were done, she says, ok, that will be sent to: my address. Thank you Cristen. Ok, I NEVER gave her my name or my address! How did she know that? I did give her my e-mail address for promos, is there any way she got info on me thru her database since I am registered through their web site? I just thought it was really weird.

She also asked me if I needed tickets, I told her I was still thinking of getting an AP. She says, OH! then you need to call back to see if the AP discounts apply to your room. I asked when do those normally come up for April? She says that it is random, and that she is not exactly sure, but that she is pretty sure they will be out, and to call back every other week just to be sure, because they sell out fast. So I will keeping my fingers crossed on the AP rate.

So I am set, and very excited. But can everyone assure me I made the right decision between the two hotels. I know WL is beautiful and I just watched it on the travel channel. But now I feel as thought I will be missing out on the Poly. :crazy2:

Oh, and can someone tell me the difference between the WL and the villas. I can get a studio at the villas for only 35.00 more a night and it has a fridge, microwave and a wet bar. It seems as thought I should have gotten the studio at the villas. Can someone tell me the pros and cons of them both. Thanks!

Cristen

I've stayed at both Poly and WL and I love them both. You couldn't have made a bad decision either way. I'm surprised the studio villa is only an extra $35 per night? How much extra was coinceirge? I don't think I would pay the $35 and take the studio (I probably wouldn't use the fridge or microwave) but largely because I travel with 2 people in the room and wouldn't need the extra space. If you have kids, the extra space and fridge/microwave might be worth it.

Cristen...you did not say when you were going to be at the WL...I am staying at the WL next month. I too was going back and forth between staying there and AKL. When I booked my ressie the AP rate was not available. I called back just last week and spoke with a very nice lady for about 30 mins and was able to get the AP rate applied to my stay...don't give up...yes do keep calling.:Pinkbounc :bounce:  ::MinnieMo

Kimberle,

thank you so much the pics, they were so pretty. According to the Disney web site, the price difference in Courtyard and Concierge is 95.00 a night. I would have LOVED it to be 35.00 a night, I would have snatched it up!! If you know a secret, please tell!!!

sjw4870,

Is the studio at the villa bigger than the room at the WL? They looked pretty small, probably the same size, but if they are bigger, that is a bonus. I am going with my DH and my three girls. So we have a big party. The fridge and microwave would probably be used. And of course the wet bar!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

theresaruth,

I am not going until April. Have fun, I wish I was going a little sooner. Let me know when you get back how it was!!

Sorry, just went to their site again. The difference in the room and the studio is 24.00 a night, not 35.00. Even better.

WL is a great choice you will really enjoy it. Its also for some reason the best value out of all of the Delux resorts. Good choice and enjoy.

Cristen,
Both resorts are fabulous, but given the choice between the two, my family would go WL again. We really loved the theming!
Enjoy yourself and the lodge.

The studio is about the size of a standard courtyard room but has a pull-out sofa so unless sleeping you will have more room. The sofa's are very comfy that being said the Studio's are in a separate building from Main Lodge...but just as beautiful, and only a walkway apart. The AP rates maybe better for Courtyard room when or if they come out for your stay. All your questions on WL or VWL can be answered and welcomed on.....Like a Phoenix out...The Newest WL FAQ (part 3) Also if you go to WDW web under Home away from home they will have more inf about the studio's. They are part of the Villas at Wilderness Lodge and are DCV.

HAVE A GREAT TRIP :wizard: Pixie Dust:wizard:

We love the villas, and if the small refrig and microwave would make your trip better, it's a good choice. It's also nice having a sofa during the day. If view is important to you, the villas have very few rooms with a water view (literally a handful). The courtyard view of the lake is much better.

Here is information on concierge posted by Corkt805. She can help you with any other information on it you need.
Like Kimberle said, you will love the Lodge and she can anwser any questions you may have.

You did not mention the ages of your children, if older then the Villas may be your better choice if the upgrade fee is correct.
In any case enjoy the Magic.

In honor of our new thread I wanted to contribute...BUT everyone has already covered the really important stuff so I figured that I would offer up a detailed list of concierge offerings:
Hope this helps someone:

a.m.- cereals, milk, oj, apple juice, coffee, tea, hot cocoa, danish, fruit salad, bagels, croissants, muffins....We also requested and received chocolate milk and one day some whole fruit

afternoon- lemonade, iced tea, coffee, pretzels, assorted nuts, cookies, gummy worms, whole fruit

early p.m.-one hot dish-ex: buffalo chili, soup, crustless peanut butter and jelly, assorted cheeses with crackers, veggies/olives, bread with a spread, assorted sodas, coffee, 2 types of wine

late p.m.- warm dessert, wines, assorted cordials, hot cocoa, coffee, cookies, bar desserts, milk

Anything we asked for they generally tried to accomodate!

Cristen, just wanted to clarify for you that neither WL or the Villas have a "wet bar". There is a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and sink in the villas.:D

thanks everyone! I'm really excited about it! And Teresa, thank you. On Disney's web site, it says they have a wet bar in the villas. I guess the sink is what they consider a bar. I would stay for a bar, not a sink!! :o

And thanks for the link to the WL FAQ. I am trying to read a little bit as I go, it's so long!!
