I think what bothers me most of all with MC is that she is airbrushed to look as if she's a size 0 on all of her magazines, and especially on the album cover of her new CD. Then, when you see her in person, she's curvy and has a butt and hips and a chest, and you wonder "what happened".

Mariah has always been proof positive that you can't buy class. Too small, trailer trash clothes are par for the course with her. At least she was wearing clothes because by her own admission she normally just wears lingerie.

I actually just find her quite sad. I don't think she realizes how rediculous she looks and she has no one to tell her the truth.

I don't think the outfit was too outrageous for her. It just stood out due to everyone else being so bundled up. I also think it's great for "normal" sized female entertainers to be proud of their shape. She is in her mid 30's now and I think she looks pretty good.

2nd this - Im not a huge Mariah Carey fan at all (anyone remember that Julie Brown Show skit yeeeeeeears ago, when Julie was re-enacting a Mariah video - and as she was walking down the street SKREECHING, people were holding their ears, while they bled??? "Help, help! MY EARS!!!" LOLOLOL )

Well she sure thinks highly of herself with that posing and everthing. I thought she was a great singer/performer years ago before she had her breakdown. Now she doesn't impress me at all. I find her kinda strange.

I agree 100%! we were laughing at the posing because she just kept doing it while ryan was trying to talk, he finally went to a commercial and i was waiting for her to say WAIT, ONE MORE POSE! lol It's not just last night, she has been trying to pull of this "act" every time you see her on other shows as well. She just doesn't seem genuine at all. If you see her very first videos, she was very flat chested and i think she went a little too far with the implants, especially now that she's gained the weight. I am wondering if she's on some type of medication? We were waiting for her to pop and go sailing off into the NY skyline, lol. I had to laugh when i saw this thread because last night i thought, oh there will be a DIS thread on this for sure" lol.

The fidgeting with her hair thing was noticable, especially how she kept trying to pull it over her shoulders and such. Honestly, I think she was using her hair to try and block some of the cold off her skin, since she didn't have much on to keep her warm. It really did look that way to me.

I'm not a huge Mariah fan, and maybe her outfit could have covered up more. But she's a performer, and that's what she was there to do! She looked very "Tina Turner" last night with that dress, she rocked! What really amazes me is all the posts that say she's put on all this weight, and she looks too heavy, like she's about to pop - yada yada. C'mon people - do you really think she's fat? She's not the skinny waif most celebrities are today, but I think that's great. She's very curvy, fuller figured, healthy looking, and she carries it really, really well. My dh thinks her body is beautiful. I wish more people thought that way about bodies like Mariah. Then maybe we wouldn't have girls starving themselves to look like Nicole Ritchie or Hillary Duff - who, by the way, looks like crap since she lost weight.

Hey, I have no problem with a few curves. I don't think that this alone is what was so horrid about last night.

The whole thing was just difficult to watch.... Like watching a train wreck, you want to look away, but you don't!!!

I agree but that outfit was a bad choice. It definately accentuated some of the weight that she has put on (not that her weight is bad.) She could have found something that was still sexy but didn't look like she was stuffing herself in it. That outfit could have been altered to fit better!

You could tell that hardly any of the people in the crowd (wearing the obnoxious Chevy hats...what advertising) were not even into the performance. They seemed bored.

I've never understood the whole mariah/mimi/oprah connection anyway...

Not surprised she was lip syncing since Dick Clark was the King of the lip sync.
I remember watching AB when I was little and wondered how the groups could "fade out" a song perfoming "live". Dick Clark and his bloopers shows are some of the worst tv ever made. nothing funny happens, other than the canned laughter. nothing more than a promo for other shows.

I actually felt a little sorry for her.

First off, she's not fat. She may not be anorexic like most of the celebrities we're used to seeing, but she's not fat.

That outfit didn't do a lot for her because it was too darn small!!!!!!!!!!! And so was the second one.

But the whole posing hair flipping thing struck me as sort of sad.

I am not going to comment on her weight because I think its ok and I don't really recall seeing her thinner. But I have to agree her behavior with the poses and such was like a train wreck. She comes off as unstable and you don't know what she is going to do next. I didn't think she danced well and didn't care much for the music.

And for all the implants Mariah has someone sure took out Hillary Duffs! She has joined in with the anorexic hollywood crowd now I guess. I couldn't understand half of what she said either.
