I don't think the outfit was too outrageous for her. It just stood out due to everyone else being so bundled up. I also think it's great for "normal" sized female entertainers to be proud of their shape. She is in her mid 30's now and I think she looks pretty good.

Im not disagreeing that she looked good, but..... she does look like she has gained a little weight.. The first thing my boyfriend said was "Wow.. she looks a little heavier than last time I saw her".. I like her songs, but not real crazy about her.. It was driving me crazy when they would show her with Ryan and she kept flipping back that hair!! Whats up with that??

she was playing with her hair "posing" for the camera.....she looked silly dressed like that when everyone else was dressed for the weather.......I would have rather watched Hillary........

I don't think her outfit was outrageous, but it certainly wasn't very flattering. Not many people can pull off a little outfit like that. Not to mention that it was pounds-adding white! I would have to fire my stylist if I were her. Reminds me of that horrilbe white outfit J Lo wore to the MTV awards one year. Although JLo's outfit was not skimpy, it made her look really big.

The outfit was just unflattering all the way around. I'm all for being against the waif look, however her chest was just hanging out from every side of that top.

Besides being a little low cut it looks likean outfit from Chicago (the movie). I don't think it's that bad.

I thought the outfit looked odd because the bra cups were WAY undersized for her breasts (the first sparkly one). That's what made the whole thing look too small... not in a "tight, fitted, sexy" way but in a "i'm going to wear this even though it's not my size" kind of a way. That picture posted does not do justice to how off it looked during the show. I think the dress needed to be longer (not longer on the legs, longer through the torso) and with a slightly bigger bodice that was actually in proportion to the size of her ****s. About the fact that she has gained some weight, I think if her dress had been properly proportioned to her body in those two spots, she would have looked amazing. You don't need to be a stick to look good in something like that... her legs look great and muscular, her arms were not flabby, she has a nice figure.... it's just that the dress was cut wrong for it.

Having said that, she did look rather ridiculous being dressed so skimpily when everyone else around was bundled up. She could've looked just as cute with a snow outfit on---but then again, I've seen pictures of some of her "cold weather" outfits, so maybe last night's attire was for the best.

I have never, ever, ever like anything Mariah Carey wears to events. They all look "hoochie" to me. The fact is though that she is very pretty and has a wonderful figure--if she wore the right clothes (which would still be sexy) she would be stunning instead of tacky looking.

We only turned on ABC near midnight. As soon as I saw her, I went back to cleaning the toilets. When I was done, Chris replayed the actual countdown.

The dress looked awful and I just felt cold for her. It was freezing and she's running around in a thin bra inspired slip dress. She would of been taken a little more serious if she had been a bit bundled up. I did however think that Ryan Seacrest did a good job last night.

To me, it looked like it was 'her' show, all the posing, throwing her hair off her chest, and 'look at me' mentality. The dress should have been cut differently, as Lisa F said. I think with the right fit, and cut, she would have looked sexier, instead of like a hoochie.

We thought the same things, she looked much heavier than someone should wearing something of that nature. It did look like a figure skating outfit...and the posing was out of control. Maybe she was drunk?

OMG!!! Everyone here is right... that photo does not show how bad it all looked!

I just looked at DH and said "Somebody shoot it and let's watch it deflate'!
(JUST JOKING AROUND people!!!)

But, the 'hair' thing took the cake. She did deep posing, and sticking out her chest, and making sure her hair was draped across her breast just-so. It really was kind of hard to watch!!!

I really got the feeling that she was trying to use all that hair to kind of cover her heaviness that showed in her arms and upper torso.

The picture posted on this thread is actally nice. It does not show the true horror that it was. The outfit was horrible for her! I actually cringed when watching her. She is no twig, but she is not fat either. I actually think she is pretty toned, although curvy. However, that outfit was a disaster in every way. I knew there would be a thread about it here. She would have looked so cute in a "snow bunny" type ski lodge inspired outfit. Instead we got "Playboy bunny".
