The twins 11th Birthday and Mother's Day...

We had a special feast of foods (can't believe I did not take a picture, duh) on Friday night in honor of the twins b-day (Bekah had to give up a movie night at church...that was tough, ahh the pre-teen stuff shall begin). All the Grandparents came over for dinner and I made two meals. Nathan asked for pasta and chicken legs. Bekah asked for tacos and I had soft, hard, the fixings plus mexican rice.

It was alot of food. Then later in the evening my sister and family, plus Matt's sister came over for presnets and dessert. we had yellow cake w/ chocolate frosting-Bekah's choice and Neopalaton (msp) ice cream-Nathan's choice.

As well Matt, I and the kids gave our Mom's and their Grandma and Grammie their Mom's day presents.

Here are some pictures from that night:

The twins w/ most of their presnets before opening:

Then on Saturday My borther helped my throw the twins kid party for about 12 of their friends. We had a sports/baseball themed party at our church in their gym. We played bean bag toss, Knock out (basketball game) and then wiffleball. DH made these clever spur of the moment Team pins National and American League. We had a hot dog feast and Idrove 20 + minutes away to buy caramel corn w/ no nuts for the party...it was good! and the twins opened presents and we had brownies for dessert. they were excited to be 1111 this yr.

Here is the group:

and this just captures my wonderful twins...born together but so different:

On Mother's Day...we did not go to church, but had a lazy day of nothing till the afternoon. The kids were so excited to open the W. Cafe and present me w/ breakfast in bed...a first. yes I'm in my jammies, un showerd and no make-up. (hence why you get one pic of me)

Fixing it up:

As well you know no occassion can go by w/out a little Disney fix.

Nathan recieved the 3 books in the Kingdom Keepers Disney series from us and from Matt for Mother's Day to me (which I bought since he can't drive yet) I got two new Disney books.

The Unofficial Guides Color Companion and The Imaginering Guide to the Magic Kingdom
Plus a whole morning in bed...looking at Disney stuff and youtube videos w/ rachel...she thinks she wants to try Test Track this year and possibly Splash Mountain...she still says no for HM.

we watched some video no images but could hear the sounds and she says oh that is when you go backwards....I laughed so hard. for a kid who says they don't like this ride, she sure knows it.

Coming soon the Next Food post!

thanks for reading,

J~

Great life update! I love the picture of the twins in the Cubs and White Six shirts! :rotfl:

How sweet of your children to make you breakfast in bed! It sounds like a very relaxing day!

I wish my mother's day was as relaxing as yours! I painted Danica's room and mowed the lawn!

What a great birthday party for the twins!
Breakfast in bed must have been fantastic. Nothing like just relaxing :cloud9:

Happy Mother's Day and Happy Birthday to Nathan and Rebekah! Looking forward to hearing what you came up with for your countdown chain. I am glad I could inspire you a teeny tiny bit. :thumbsup2

How is Matt doing? TFS the great photos from the birthday and mother's day celebrations. :)

Sounds like a great weekend!! Alex LOVES the game knock out... that's all he ever wants to play (that's the game he was looking forward to playing with J when he was a no show in my last update).

Poor Matt - he must be so uncomfortable in that neck brace - does he have a hard time sleeping?

What a nice Mother's Day :goodvibes and I loved the birthday celebration pictures. Happy Belated Birthday! :cake:

I can't believe how big your kids are!

well it ended w/ draging old falling about wicker chairs and 4 very heavy stinky yard bags to the curb for garbage...if that is any consolation ;)

What a great birthday party for the twins!

That brace does look uncomfortable, hope the follow-up visit goes well today!

Can't wait to hear all the scoop on the dining!

We should try and get together before the kids get out of school, it's only a few more weeks!

What a lovely Mother's Day/Double Birthday post!

Part Two of Scrappie’s Food Discussion…

Counter Service:

So what can one do while sitting in a hospital waiting room and care room while her husband is having surgery and being cared for…I had over 12 hrs to spend sitting and waiting and watching two weeks ago when Matt had his spinal surgery…Disney to the rescue! It was able to keep my mind occupied. Which was good, it was a bit overwhelming.

****BTW: Matt's post up check Tues 5-11 went great, the brace is off and he went back to work....I hope he takes my advice and takes it easy and just does a half day today. He can wear the brace as needed for discomfort or support and has low-impact no lifting over 20 lbs still for 4 more weeks and doesn't need to be seen for 3 months...not bad I guess after have spinal pieces fused and a huge metal plate plus screws permantly attached in his neck ;)

I went over all DDP credits again to make sure I was tallying up the point totals correctly for our 8 nights on the plan for my family members and then the GP’s (grandparents) credits…

Good thing too, I had miscalculated somewhere and thought I had one more meal coming to us on the DDP (CS) then we actually did…whew.

Easy enough to fix as the day we have a TS breakfast, I can "schedule" a snack credit lunch which can be easily had at the Magic Kingdom…pretzels, dole whips, giant cinnamon rolls, sounds good to me.

After figuring out the credit totals (8 nights = 8 TS credits to be split over 2 reg TS and 3 sig TS; 8 CS credits to be split over 8 CS lunches/dinners and the plenty of SC which we have 48 between the 6 of us and the GP’s extra credits will give us 2 adult TS credits and 6 CS credits for one more CS meal BONUS!)

I then went through menus I had already printed for most of the restaurants we were thinking of choosing and specifically the CS places…I want to make sure we have a fine balance of burger to non burger choices…With all those delicious snacks, we should try to eat somewhat healthy, not to mention 9 ½ days of burgers gets old real quick. And of course I made a chart ;)

I also went through each CS menu (no guarantees on the 100% accuracy here, but hopefully a good representation) and jotted down what Naomi-Ruth could eat at each place from the menu selection and the info I received from WDW special diets…which I do believe there is a discrepancy in the menu from Studio Cat Co in DHS…:confused3

 I plan to make little cheat sheet cards of her choices in advance.

I also jotted down in my handy “burger to no burger chart” the amount of chicken nugget to no chicken nugget meals were offered.

Now to my list of Counter Service picks

I have basically come up w/ at least two choices per park and per dining time. I will narrow it down once I make up more goal specific touring plans as it gets closer…

So how did I choose?

These are our determining factors:

1) Can it accommodate Naomi-Ruth’s needs?

2) Does it have non burger options and other kid options beside chick nug’s?

3) Is it a place that the GP’s would like?

4) Is it a favorite among our family?

5) Is it something new or have we just ate there in 09 or 08?

Choices by Park:

Magic Kingdom

We should eat here only once for a CS dinner (bummer).

Cosmic Rays for the nice diverse menu more than just burgers and, yes to food accommodation, fav among our family

Or

Columbia Harbor House for the great food, great seating area, fav among our family and yes to food accommodation

Animal Kingdom

We should eat here for at least two meals (lunch).

FTBBQ for the yes to food accommodation, nice menu, great outdoor seating area, we did not eat there in 09 thinks GP’s would enjoy

Or

Restaurantsarus for yes to food accommodation, indoor seating (but can get crowded), like the fixings bar

Disney Hollywood Studios

We should eat here 1 to 2 times a lunch and possible dinner

Studio Catering Co for maybe food accommodation, nice menu choices I believe new updated menu (this is where confusion lies…WDW diets says they gave certain things but the new menu posted on AllEars as of March ’10 and saw pictures I think on a Dis-cast does not list the same things. Have not eaten here since maybe the late 90’s so I want to give it a try.

Or

Backlot Express for possible non burger choices, yes to food accommodation, have not eaten here in awhile.

Epcot

This is the one park we’ll consume most of meals…not sure how it worked this way…but at least there is plenty of choices. At least 4 CS meals (combo of lunch and dinners)

World Showcase picks:

Yakitori House in Japan-never have eaten here, something new, really think GP’s would enjoy this. The kid menu has chicken legs which all my kids enjoy (w/ exception of Naomi) HAS ANYONE EVER EATEN HERE? THOUGHTS?

Liberty Inn in USA is a good stand-by has food accommodation for Naomi (one of the few in WS) and we like the outdoor seating, usually never crowded.

Tangerine Café in Morocco I really like this place, food and ambience, meets the non burger criteria but nothing else.

We must make snack credit stops in Norway and France too!

Future World picks:

Sunshine Seasons in the Land, have not eaten here in a long time, have to plan the timing right in here. Menu sounds really fun and lots of choices, yes to food accommodation too.

Electric Umbrella like that it has indoor seating, yes food accommodation, did not eat here in 09

So here is a look at my Burger to Non-Burger choices chart and the chicken nugget meals for kids:

BH= Mainly Burger/Hotdog Menus NBH= Alternate Menu Options

Both= obvious

KCN= Kid Chicken Nugget Meals BFN= Bring Food for Naomi-Ruth
(questionable accommodation available)

Fri POP: food court: Both, KCN, BFN lunch MP: EOS: NBH dinner

Sat no CS lunch EPCOT: Yakitori: NBH, BFN dinner

Sun AK: Rest-saurus: BH, KCN or
FTBBQ: NBH lunch MK: Cosmic: both, KCN
CHH: NBH, KCN dinner

Mon DHS: Studio: NBH, KCN, BFN or BLE: Both, KCN lunch no CS dinner

Tue MK: various snack credits-?both, BFN lunch DHS (see above) or CR: Contempo Café: NBH, BFN dinner

Wed EPCOT: Sunshine: NBH lunch EPCOT: Liberty Inn: BH, KCN or
Tangierine: NBH, KCN, BFN dinner

Thurs no CS meals today

Fri AK: (see above) lunch no CS dinner

Sat EPCOT: ElecUm: BH lunch or dinner

Hope that makes sense (sorry didn't paste over in the nice little boxes)….helps me to know that we hopefully will have an overall balance between mostly Burger choices and non burger choices and that the Kid Chicken Nugget Meal doesn’t always have to be eaten….

plus the big help is which days/times I know I HAVE to have food for Naomi-Ruth…of course I’ll always have emergency foods, after all she is 3 (just turning 4) and at home her main staple is sunbutter on rice bread, bologna (yes gross) vegan cheese and rice crackers, naked nuggets, and veggie or rice pasta for most meals…other than what I specifically prepare that she can eat….

If you are wondering where is breakfast?

Well basically every day w/ the exception of 2 (for sure) breakfast will be eaten in the villa (consisting of a grocery order) and the two for sure exceptions are Rachel’s b-day the hopeful 1900 PF Breakfast and then our first morning on Sat 20th will be a grab and go from POP food court/stuff brought from home.

Love to hear feedback on my choices:

Like a ton, would eat there every day OR hate strongly like a stinky old shoe or anything that you ate, that you crave daily….:rolleyes1

Thanks for reading…

Hi Julie!

I'm home....:sad2:. Oh well....all good things must come to an end. I'll have to wait a week or two before approaching Jeff with plans for our next vacation! :lmao:

Looks like the twins had a great birthday! I actually remembered you telling me that their birthday was on the 7th and thought of them while Jeff and I were enjoying our AMAZING dinner at Boma!

How fun that the kids prepared you a Mother's Day feast! I enjoyed being in Florida for Mother's Day, but missed the cute things my boys would have done for me if I had been at home. Your little ones sure love you a ton!

Your CS choices look really good. You have a few of my faves on the list...Cosmic Rays, Flame Tree, Columbia Harbour House, Sunshine Seasons. And of course my VERY favorite.......Tangierine Cafe! YUMMMMM!! We ate at Cosmic Rays and Pecos Bill's on Saturday and enjoyed both. I wish I had been able to pop over to Morocco though! ;)

WOW!!! Now THAT is an impressive post!! I love how you tracked what types of foods were offered at each place so you wouldn't be eating the same stuff all week--very smart!!! :thumbsup2
