Congratulations, Anne. I wonder how many more people saw your article because it was mentioned on air!

If you don't mind my asking, how did you get started doing this?

Awesome Anne!!! It's always a lot of fun knowing a celebrity DISer!! :bounce:

I worked in the music industry in marketing and promotions for many years. Toured with a ton of bands. Got interested in photography again and called friends for photopasses. Wasn't serious at first but then was told I had talent by someone who I really respect and he encouraged me to persue it. Met the publisher of a local paper at a gig, he asked if he could use some of my photo's, in talking to him he found out that actually I'm a much better writer than photographer, and he hired me to write for his magazine. (I was a columnist for another publication previously.) And that's the way it went.

Is that scissors in his nose??

Yes. During his act he also put a variety of other things up his nose, down his throat, over his head and hanging off his ear lobes. He's actually quite funny in a perverse way once you pick your jaw up off the floor and put it back up on your chin.

That is cool. My dd19 wants to be a music journalist, she knows it's a very hard thing to get into. She has had free passes to take pictures and write articles about Three doors down and thornley, nickelback. and other bands for road runner records ,she loves to write and hopes to one day do it for a living.
So i say congrats to you that awesome.

Who does she write for? (My guess is she's on the RR Street Team?) I've got friends at Roadrunner and 3 Doors Down's management company (who I do some stuff for not related to journalism.) Thornley's no longer on Roadrunner. Ian's slogging along, half his band left, and Cale, the cousin of Adam-- the singer for Three Days Grace--is now Thornley's guitarist. (I know this only because Cale is the friend of a good friend of mine.)

Tell her to major in journalism with a minor in marketing or music business, and get an internship someplace--she's going to ahve to do the internship in NYC or LA more than likely. New School in NYC has a great program, lots of people are coming out of there and into paid internships and jobs.

I've been lucky--I paid my dues backwards, but they were paid. But it was much easier for me to "break in" to the business because of my previous background. :)
