As some of you know, I'm a journalist for a music and entertainment publication in the Orlando area. I wrote a cover story for the current issue where I highlighted the bands playing at a big festival concert being held at the end of the month that a big local rock station puts on every year.

Anyhow, this morning they were talking on the air about one of the bands playing at this show and one of the jocks began talking about what I had written about this band in my article. :) Referred to me as "the girl who wrote the article" rather than by name, but still, I thought it was pretty cool!

:thumbsup2

Ooh, I'm so proud to say that I, MouseWorshipin, knew The Girl Who Wrote the Article when.

Did you know that we (you and I and Jon Bon Jovi, Dr. Seuss, and Desi Arnez) share a birthday? Maybe someday I'll be The Girl Who Was His Nurse! :)

Didn't know you were a writer or famous..now I know both. I think that's very cool...congrats!! :thumbsup2

Actually Mikael Gorbachov was born on the same day as well. I think it's cool that we were born on the same day as Dr. Suess :)

That is so cool. Shows that the band read your article.

Actually it was the DJ's that were talking about it, but I have gotten e-mails from various band members as well. As a courtesy I send tear sheets on anything I write to the respective bands management/label/publicist, and they often pass them on to the artists. I've gotten positive e-mails from a bunch of them:

(This one meant a lot to me to get good feedback from--they are one of my favorite bands!)

and a bunch of others.

I've also gotten some negative feedback--this guy doesn't like me much--but the feeling is mutual:

Maybe I am "old" but what kind of music do these bands play? Definitely not country :teeth:

So the DJ's were giving you the plug. Must have been a great article for them to mention it. :cool1:

I dunno. That first picture sure looks Country...NOT! :) Thank God for the hillbillies!

That's really cool that they mentioned you...
Wow, the guy in the first picture looks like this guy that used to call himself Satan. He went to SUNY Albany and played rugby several years ago.

Don't want to meet the first guy at all..... :sad2: How can he "sing" with scizzors in his nose? :sad2: :rolleyes2

Um, nope, not country. The first guy is actually not a band, but a performance artist who goes by the name "The Lizardman". He made more than a few people have protien spills during his "show." megan4777, I actually wonder if it's not the same guy--because up until a couple years ago he lived in Albany. Not sure if he went to SUNY though. (That's my alma mater--I was a "completely useless" major--English.)

The rest are pretty generic rock/hard rock type stuff, the fifth is a Christian rock/reggae band (P.O.D.) who I absolutely adore. In fact the second, third, and fifth photo's represent three of my favorite groups from both a personal and professional perspective.

:rotfl: :rotfl: I thought about it, then figured I'd just give him a hard time when I see him at the concert in a few weeks.

it could have been so much more fun in front of his listeners...

plus if they had you on the air you would have been even more (not really) famous
