I'm Not As Tink As You Kronk I Am - Final Thoughts on Mustard's January Trip to WDW

Looking forward to day 3:goodvibes

Putting it together now :D

awww you wait on me? how sweet!

But of course! :D

Well, since you had only ridden the HM in DL in 1976 it should be pretty comparable. According to what I've read, the renovations they did to the HM at MK made it to be very similar to the MK in DL.

Oh, ok then ...it did seem pretty much like I remembered as a kid ;)

oooo I can't wait to hear about the last characters you got pics of. I'm sure you're DD will be helping you navigate to all the characters. How great to have another little planner along next time since she'll be old enough. :thumbsup2

It was really cool and characters I hadn't expected to see or had even thought of looking for. Yes, DD is more than welcome to taking over the tour guide duties ...hehehe.

:lmao: glad I'm not the only one that thought he was way too repetative.

:rotfl: having to solve a server/network crisis over the phone while in line for a ride at universal sounds very interesting. I can only imagine the kind of calls you get with people trying to have you solve computer problems over the phone.

:woohoo: thanks for the party! I feel special! :lovestruc

Yup, bad jokes one time around is entertaining ...three times around is just baaaadddd!

The server thing was funny, and I got a call this time during Nemo at AK :rotfl: There are just certain jobs that follow you no matter where you go.

You're very welcome - top 'o the page is always a cause for celebration :woohoo:

Just finished :)

You have some great pictures here!

That was so neat that the CM let Bean drive the boat on the Jungle Cruise! So cool :)

Can't wait to read more about your adventures!

You know how you keep seeing a person post on other PTR's and TR's that you read, but you tell yourself, NO! I will not start reading another TR! I must put my foot down or else I'll be spending ALL day on the dis!

Well, who am I kidding? I'm always on here anyway. What the hay?

I've been seeing you around for a while and decided it was time to check out your report. Now, back to the beginning :)

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Oh yes, I know it well, but it is a hard temptation to resist! Even if it does make one burn the midnight oil trying to keep up with everybody's fun :surfweb:

Thank you very much for taking a look and I promise not to be pulled in and start reading yours...

OK, so DW and I had a long conversation late at night about weather vs. our planned days at WDW. I did not get to sleep immediately but was comforted by both DW's and DD8's gentle snoring in the room :D

The next morning I got up early and when DW woke up I said we had to make the change and if we lost our chance at Coral Reef we'd live with it. But DW picked up my planning binder and got the Disney Reservations number and gave them a call. Dinner was booked, but she was able to swing lunch ressies at Coral Reef for Monday.

Did I mention that my wife totally ROCKS!!! I would put many happy/jumpy smilies in here but I'm trying to leave room for pictures so just picture a whole row of them :D

So with that set we let everyone else sleep in a bit more as we're not expecting crowds to be unmanagable at Typhoon Lagoon in early January. We still have ourselves together and are able to get to TL right after it opens.

It was DW, the DDs, my mom, my MiL, and me of course. MiL decided not to swim as her back was still bugging her, but she had a good time just watching us frolic around out there. My mom skipped crush-n-gusher, but enjoyed the wave pool until a rogue wave got her and then had a good relaxing ride on the lazy river :-]

The bigger pics you will see including the one above were taken with one of those disposable waterproof cameras so the shot's aren't so clear. The real bummer was that none of the pics from the big wave pool turned out at all except for a blurry one of DD8 underwater coming up in a bit. We had shots of waves bearing down on DD11 and of me holding DD8 above the wave while I was swallowed up by it.

The smaller pics are from the photopass website. I'm still putting borders on some of them and am actually hoping they give some better border selections before I place the order for our Photo CD.

The girls ran up to the overlook to take it all in and I take a quick shot.

From the overlook we did a quick bathroom break and coated everyone with sunscreen. After that it was off to Crush n Gusher!

At first DW and DD11 went on one raft and DD8 and I went on the other. But within a ride or two DD11 wanted to go solo, so we switched out 2 or 3 person rides with either DD8 and I or DW, DD8, and I.

BTW, there was a line of about 20 people at the longest for the 2-person rafts and no wait at all for the 3-person rafts :D

We probably did it for a bit over an hour before moving on. We grabbed a quick snack and then hit the wave pool. DD11 got all the way out there with the body surfers and DD8 and I got pretty close to her. We got past the point where the wave crests, which was much easier to deal with than eating the big wave while holding on to her. DW tried it for a while, but was more than happy to turn her back over to me after a few waves ;-]

Here's the one and only pic from there as mentioned above

Dis08_090.jpg

Once we had our fill of that we hit the bathrooms, got some ice cream, and then headed towards the mountain and its assorted tube rides n such.

We started with Gang Plank Falls, which I took a couple of shots on

And then Keelhaul Falls ...I didn't get a shot of that one, but got another pic of the boat on the way up to it

Dis08_103.jpg

We finished up by taking on the Storm Slides and Humunga Kowabunga ...or as everyone seems to refer to it, the wedgie express :D :P :D

The girls would have liked to stay a bit longer, but I had plans for catching Spectro and Wishes that evening since we wouldn't be doing it on Monday. I knew we would be cutting it close, but I knew we could make it in time!

Coming Up! Mustard make's his biggest goof of the trip and DW has to chase away his grumpies

What a great day you all had! I LOVE Disney water parks, esp. Blizzard Beach:lovestruc
Can't wait to go back there this Sept.!!!
Great pics! They really captured the fun:)
Can't wait to hear about your evening at MK!

A couple of questions for you....

I forgot to ask before, but how does one acquire the diamond parking pass? I'm just curious as we saw the signs for it at the parks.

Love the pictures from the water park. I'd like to try doing it one day. I'm assuming the pools were heated? What was the temperature outside on the day you went?

And lastly, how did you save the pictures from photopass? When I try right clicking on them, nothing happens. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

I hadn't realized we had done so well with the characters, we were just really strategic in dividing up and holding places in lines for the kids and it all just worked out :-]

Whoohoo for Donald's PhilharMagic! And yes - sent on the pic of your hat - I'd love to see it!

Thankee sir - I'll keep it coming!
yep you did a great job.

i will post a pic of the stuff that we got at the end of the TR.

great update, you have some great shots from the water park...i have to try and post some of the screen shots that i did of our photopass pics.

those will come at the end as well, i have some tinkering to do to them.

i am guessing that you messed up some how onyour dinner reservations and your wife made you feel better.

Great update on TL Mustard! :goodvibes Such a good idea to bring the waterpoof cameras so you could take pictures. You're so s-m-r-t....oops, I mean s-m-a-r-t :lmao: (I crack myself up)

Those slides look really fun. I never want to go to the water parks because I had a bad experiance in the wave pool at White Water when I was in high school. :confused3 Plus I don't like wearing a bathing suit in public. Maybe if I can lose the 30lbs I want to before my next WDW trip I'll brave it and try out one of the water parks :confused3 :thumbsup2

Can't wait to read the next update. Wives are good for chasing away grumpies. I had to do it for my DH too on our trip.

oh yeah, and that's awesome that your dW was able to change your ADR for Coral Reef. That does indeed Rock!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Looks like you guys had a blast! I'm just as glad we didn't bother on our trip, tho - we barely had enough time to do all the parks! Plus, I think the kids will enjoy it more when they are older. Not to mention, it was a bit chilly...

It was good tiring fun and we got to try everything there, so we came away happy :) Blizzard Beach is usually the one that is open in January, but they decided to change things up this year. We'll have to try BB next time ;-]

The evening was an adventure - still have to get some stuff together before I post it.

A couple of questions for you....

I forgot to ask before, but how does one acquire the diamond parking pass? I'm just curious as we saw the signs for it at the parks.

You get the diamond pass when you purchase a ticket as a AAA member. In our case my MiL is a AAA member and bought her ticket separately from ours. The parking passes (2 of them) come with the ticket purchase.

The pools were warm-ish and easy to get used to. The day topped out around 79-80 degrees, so was plenty warm for us. I'm very happy we switched to this day instead of trying to go on monday, which I think topped out in the mid-60s.

As far as the photopass pics, they don't allow you to save them. I wish they would ...maybe just charge a fee for downloading hi-res versions of the ones you want. So I just did print screens with each pic open in the edit box and cropped them down to show just the pics. Probably something Disney would frown on, but since I'm buying the incredibly overpriced picture CD from them I figured they could cut me some slack ;)

yep you did a great job.

Thankyee!

Sounds like a plan - I'll be looking for it!

I did what I could with the cheapo camera and would have liked to have done more. I actually looked into underwater housings for my Canon Rebel, but I only saw the hard cases and they were very pricey.

Now that I've gotten back and had some more time to look I've found some cheaper "bag-style" ones that are more in my price range. I'll be picking up one of those before my next trek to a water park :thumbsup2

I know what you mean about the Photopass tinkering ...I'm going to be messing with mine for another couple of weeks and am still hoping for some different non-holiday borders from them.

Good guess, but we had no reses for that night and actually grabbed McDonalds on our way to MK from our resort ;) This had more to do with me being WAY too focused on the goal of getting to MK on time for Spectro and totally goofing because I wasn't paying enough attention :sad1:

I'm glad we had the waterproof camera ...just wished we had used them more/more of the pics had turned out.

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience at a water park, but I can tell you that TL was waaaayyyy above the standards of any other water park I have ever been to. And DW was in the same boat about the bathing suit ...but it's like I told her, you will look like a goddess compared to many of the people at the park. And the bottom line is just getting there and splashing around and having fun :cool1:

Yes, let's hear it for DW's and their ability to defuse grumpy DHs, fix reservations, and generally save the day :cheer2:  :yay:

Looks like you guys had a blast! I'm just as glad we didn't bother on our trip, tho - we barely had enough time to do all the parks! Plus, I think the kids will enjoy it more when they are older. Not to mention, it was a bit chilly...

It was much fun! I can understand your PoV on that ....we had some very busy and long days and not much in the way of rest other than sleeping in a couple of days. Yes, the water parks are better when they're older. Our girls being 8 & 11 worked pretty well. And we were very lucky catching TL on the last real warm day of our trip :woohoo:

Thanks for the answers! :)

I thought maybe that was how you were doing the Photopass pictures.

The week we were there I don't think it ever got much higher than 74.

Water park looked like a blast!! I have not been there since I was little.

Can't wait to hear what goof you made, perhaps you got the time of the parade or fireworks wrong?:confused3

Wives are great at chasing the grumpies away:lovestruc

looks like a fun day at the water park. never been but maybe one day.

Love the pics of Typhoon Lagoon! Ok, I gotta know - what do you and the wife have tattoos of?:goodvibes

Mustard, where are ya??

Game is over:happytv:

Hey All! I had a busy end of week at work followed by a trip to the next town over with DW for Costco and a search for a new doggie ;) After that it was a fiend's 30th b-day party and then of course - SUPERBOWL!!!!

Thanks for the answers! :)

You're welcome! And you got it - just a print screen. I heard back from them and they're not making any different borders so I'm getting ready to order the CD.

Well 74 isn't bad ...much better than the 20s - 40s we've been getting back here :D

It was big fun, best water park we've been to. I'm looking forward to doing BB next time!

looks like a fun day at the water park. never been but maybe one day.

Give it a shot some time - it is a nice change of pace from all the walking at the theme parks. You can splash around, slide, or just float around and soak up the sun :thumbsup2

Thank you! DW still doesn't have any ink, but has thought of getting something for years.

I have one on my left shoulder that I got in Germany when I was 20. It is a ram's skull (astro sign is Aires) with crossed "Gonzo" daggers a la Hunter S. Thompson.

I designed it myself and it represented a wild point in my life. I'm trying to come up with a concept for one that I will be putting on my right shoulder. I don't know what it will be but the theme is something representing my daughters. I'll be getting it put on in just over a year for my 40th b-day.

Figure I'll get another when I turn 60 :lmao:

Mustard, where are ya??

Game is over:happytv:

I was buried in work and fun, but I'm back now :woohoo:

STUPID GAME!!!!:headache: :headache:

Sorry m'dear, but I was going for the Giants in that one. They sure managed to shut down ole Brady.

GO GIANTS!!!

WHOOT WHOOT!!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Mustard.....3rd day and no update

tsk...tsk...:sad2:

:rotfl:

Yeah! Now were any of us smart enough to actually put any money down on it?

I know, I know - I'm a slacker ;)
