I'm Not As Tink As You Kronk I Am - Final Thoughts on Mustard's January Trip to WDW

OK, here we go! It was about 2:30pm when we left the Jamboree and headed past the silent presence of Splash towards Big Thunder. DDs both needed a bathroom break so DW took them while the moms found a shady spot to park their chairs. I talked to them about the Dreams parade since I knew they weren't going to ride BTMRR.

So DW, the DDs, and I headed up to BT while the moms got good spots for the parade. I caught this shot while we were waiting in line:
Dis08_055.jpg

It was one of the few lines that took any amount of time, but was still somewhere between 20-25min. We got the very back car with Bean next to me:
Dis08_056.jpg

and Roxy and my Pumpkin Girl right behind us:
Dis08_057.jpg

It was fun but both DDs thought it was too short a ride to warrant the "long" wait in line - lolol

We got out just after the parade had passed, but the girls were ok with that and the moms had a great time watching it. We headed down into Adventureland to catch PoTC before the parade crowd caught up with us and only had about a 15min wait for it :D

I have heard some back and forth about the changes they made, but overall I was ok with the movie-based additions to it. Here's some pics from it:

We spent some time in the gift shop there and I picked up my crimson pirate Mickey Ears which you will see me stylishly sporting in future shots ;-]

We continued through Adventureland and the girls took a quick break dodging the squirting totems with Bean dodging well and Pumpkin being not so lucky :D

From there it was right around the corner and on to the Jungle Cruise! It took some doing getting the moms on the boat, but once we were settled we were a tour de force of tie dyed wonder ...hehehe
Dis08_065.jpg

We saw lots of wildlife fun including hungry, hungry hippos:

But then the trip took a dangerous turn when Bean was asked to drive!!!!!

The CM was a real kick and kept bugging us to send her a t-shirt ...it was one of the high points of the day.

Next was a trip to the Tiki Room. We had some issues with that on due to some initial miscommunications with the CM running the turnstiles in relation to wheelchair access. We just missed one show but I had the moms ready to roll in on the second when he closed up the wheelchair gate (DW was with DDs doing the little boats next to the Jungle Cruise and we thought we had plenty of time). I was a bit miffed and went down to talk to him after he closed it.

He was a bit embarrased and apologized for not letting me know when we missed the first show and that the wheelchair guests had to be lined up and go in before they let anyone else in due to the arrangement of the theater.

For the next show he was very gracious and made sure all of the ladies got leis. We had some time to kill so I was able to get some good family shots in front of the waterfall :-]

Dis08_070.jpg

Then it was on with the show! This is one of DW's favs as a kid and she was ok with the addition of Iago and Zazu ...seeing how it would help kids of today connect with it.

When the show finished we had one more bathroom break but then had to beat feet outta there to meet up with my stepdad and his birthday suprise!
Dis08_074.jpg

On the way out we ran into Cinderella's mice
Dis08_075.jpg

and Chicken Little
Dis08_076.jpg

We left at a good time and the monorail wasn't crowded at all. It was nice to be off our feet for a few minutes. We headed back to the resort and "freshened up" before rolling out for DTD. It was just after dark and the lagoon was reflecting all the lights from the Rainforest Cafe
Dis08_077.jpg

We had 7pm reses, so we headed right down to our destination:
Dis08_078.jpg

It was a great meal - everybody got stuffed. And for the food lovers I must again apologize because I have no food pics and can't remember what everybody had ...but it was all good. The only downside was that it was loud and very busy.

But my stepdad really enjoyed it and we were all set to suprise him with some birthday cake (it was his 61st b-day), but the whole thing dragged out so long I ran out of excuses as to why we hadn't left yet and had to tell him :P
Dis08_080.jpg

By the time we left Bean was down for the count and I had to carry her back to the car
Dis08_079.jpg

We headed back to the resort and poured Bean into our bed and made sure everyone else was settled in before DW and I headed down to the Super Wal-Mart to finally stock up on food and other stuff. One of the things we needed to pick up was a printer so DW and MiL could print out some reports and do payroll for the company they work for.

The are the only office people so that bit couldn't be helped. We picked out a printer, then got an extra ink cartridge, then got distracted looking for DVD-R disks and were on our way back to the resort before we realized we never actually put the printer in the cart!

This little oops would come back to haunt us in days to come.

We made it back after 11pm and sat down to look over the next day. We had everything set up for an EPCOT day including Coral Reef dinner ADRs, but I was getting more and more concerned about next week's weather. The next day was looking like another nice sunny day with a high around 80 again, but a storm was moving in over the weekend.

I had Typhoon Lagoon set for Monday and it was looking cloudy and cool for that day with a decent chance of rain. We also had Monday set as our Spectro night, and I was concerned it might get rained out. But Thursday was also a Spectro so I brought up switching those two days.

It made sense with the exception that we had to try and change a 6 person Coral Reef reservation right before we were supposed to be there. Would we change it up? Would it all work out? Do I have any kind of clue what I am doing???

We'll see next time - hehehe!

I don't know if I posted about your other update but if I did just overlook this:laughing: I love the bed in the tub!!! What a great idea and she fit perfect! Trevon won't sleep on a couch bed or anywhere alone in a new place either, he slept with me a Zar on the king bed! There was plenty of room, those things are huge!!!

The condo looks very nice and that's great it was so close to the parks. You guys had a fun filled busy first day.

We did the same thing in the same order as you on our first MK day, BTMRR, POTC and JC and Trevon was the skipper too! That's too funny:rotfl:

Glad you all enjoyed your dinner and oops about the printer! I know you did not want to go back out!!!

Can't wait for another update and to hear about your day at Epcot!

I love pictures!!!

WOOHOO..

Can't wait:cool1:

Well here ya go - another batch of pics ;)

Yes, the bed in the tub was our best compromise and it did fit her very well. And she really liked the idea of all of her animal friends "floating" around her :rotfl2: And she did end up sleeping one night with us. You had a similar situation aye? Well lets hear it for california kings!

I really liked the location - it was close to everything we went to and was very comfortable. It was also very well built ...we never heard a peep out of our neighbors.

It was a busy first day wasn't it? We had initially planned to leave in the early afternoon and kick back at the resort before heading to DTD, but we were just having too much fun :woohoo:

And great minds think alike as far as ride order I see. VERY cool that Trevon got to be skipper too

Yeah, we didn't have it in us to go back and procrastinated picking it up ...all caught up in our Disney days. It turned out to be a mistake we'd pay for a few days later. But that's for another day's report :thumbsup2

I can't believe it.

Another update already!!!!!:thumbsup2

It doesn't look like there's been too much drama yet. Other than the initial delay in getting to Orlando.

It does look like you got some rain during your stay (I checked January's daily rain amounts, sick I know)

It really looks like you are having a good time so far.

Another update, WOOHOO.

Just a suggestion, maybe when you do an update, you could edit your title with date of the update, that way none of your readers miss your updates:goodvibes

Great pics!!!

Why were the moms leary of Jungle Cruise? Did they think it wen fast?:rotfl2:

I love when they let kids "steer" the boat, so awesome your dd was chosen:thumbsup2

Love the pics of the kids playing in the totem pole area with water..loooks like fun...

Can' wait to se e what happens next:cool1:

WOW another update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Uh Oh! Forgetting the printer sounds like something I would do. Did you have to go back and get one?

Braeton and Tyler saw your pics and now they are reliving their trip!:goodvibes Remember when we were riding the pirates and that Pirate....? And remember when we were on... It's cute!!!1

And Uh Hum What's with the cliff hanger???:headache: I CAN'T believe SOME people would leave their reports hanging like that!!!!!!hmph!!!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Yup, I'm rolling along pretty good so far! We'll see if I can keep it up once the work week starts :)

No, once we got there we only suffered a couple of snafus ...and none of them happened on their first day. We got a bit of rain on Sunday at Sea World and a sprinkle here and there on Thursday/Friday at the end of our trip, but nothing that hampered any of our fun ;)

We had a great time overall and that first day was very magical :wizard:

Another update, WOOHOO.

Ahhh, good call with changing the title ...I'll take care of that after this post!

And as far as the pics, I was very frugal for this first day ...took just over 600 pics and only posted 50 :rotfl: I'll probably split the rest of the days into 3 or 4 posts to fit in more ...hehehe.

The moms both have back/hip issues so we just had to tread carefully getting them in/out of the boat. And they were undoubtedly fearfull of Bean's driving skills ...they've seen the way she drives in video games

The totem pole was a nice diversion and it was just warm enough to make it refreshing for the girls.

I'll try to keep the fun rolling!

WOW another update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Yes, I am unstoppable! LOLOL

Yeah, the printer thing was a bummer and going back to get it is a story unto itself.

Very cool that your boys are enjoying the pics and that they are bringing back such fun memories. Doing this TR is really helping me keep this trip alive :) I'm just glad I took the time during the trip to write up a simple play-by-play of what happened each day and I have so many pics to look back on to tie the story together :thumbsup2

What, you don't like my little cliffhangers? :confused3 ;) popcorn:: I can't even fathom where I would get the idea to do such a thing :rolleyes1

Y'all have a good night - I have uploaded pics for the day 2 report, we'll see if I can actually get it posted. Right now we have about 2 inches of snow on the ground with another 4-5 inches expected overnight. The city schools have already officially closed and my work has posted a 2hr delay before they get rolling. I might just come off my vacation and go right into a snow day :lmao: :lmao:

Yay, you took my advice:goodvibes

WOw...600 photos....in one day.....:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Can't wait to see them:thumbsup2

so I see you are back home and playing catch up on all of your other threads (i know this since you stopped by mine.)

Sorry I missed the first couple of updates....I'll be back after I respond on my thread. Just wanted to stop by here first and glance at how much I missed :rotfl:

the first day looks amazing. Your digs look great too :thumbsup2 that's too funny that your DD slept in the tub :rotfl: looks quite cozy though for someone of that size.

What did you think of the changes they made to HM?? I thought it was great!

The pictures that you got with all the characters are great. I'm most jealous of the ones you got with alice & the mad hatter and also bert and merry poppins. I think we'll be doing much more character pictures this september so I'll have to keep my eye out for them.

Cosmic rays is really good isn't it? Didn't you want to yell at the entertainment after a while though for playing the same stuff over and over? :rotfl: We sat in there for a little bit last september for a break and it got pretty repetative.

:yay: you got to see philharmagic. I think that's one of my favorite things at MK as far as shows go.

Can't wait to hear about the evening. :thumbsup2 Great start!

I just read your 2nd update. You are on a roll. I'm glad you guys decided to ride a ride during the parade. That's usually what we do too becuase the lines are so short during that time. But ya'll had to wait? what a bummer! thank goodness you got the bonus of no real wait for PoTC  ! I love that ride. Again, one of my favs. I too like the movie additions...especially since Capt. Jack is so life like :lovestruc **swoon**!

Sounds like you guys had a really good time at dinner with your step dad. That stinks that you had to spoil the surprise but I'm guessing he enjoyed it anyways. :thumbsup2

OMG...okay, you went to buy a printer but forgot to put it in the cart? :rotfl: I can't wait to see how this one pans out. That stinks that your DW had to "work" during the trip. I guess it probably wasn't too bad but...still. Ah well....Can't wait for more! :thumbsup2

wow you have a ton of pics with characters for the MK day, way to go.

darn tuten it should have been called donalds philharmagic...he rules.

:goodvibes

i have to take a picture fo you guys of my hat i got from the show.

great updates, and can not wait for more.

Fauntleroy out.
:surfweb:

Ooh - great updates! I'll say, we really lucked out on payroll dates - we were able to do it right before we left. (Dh and I are the only ones allowed to write checks.) I can see where the printer snafu is going to come back to haunt you!

I couldn't believe you got that entire first report done from WDW! Esp with all those pictures!!! You must have an amazing camera to get all those dark action shots.

great update and pics. looks like a great day.

Yay, you took my advice:goodvibes

Well of course! It was great advice :)

Yeah, well you have to keep in mind that a chunk of those are just blurry blobs - lol

Sorry I missed the first couple of updates....I'll be back after I respond on my thread. Just wanted to stop by here first and glance at how much I missed

Yes, I'm bouncing around from thread to thread trying to catch up with everyone ;) No worries, take you time ...I'll just be sitting here waiting popcorn:: :rolleyes1

the first day looks amazing. Your digs look great too :thumbsup2 that's too funny that your DD slept in the tub :rotfl: looks quite cozy though for someone of that size.

What did you think of the changes they made to HM?? I thought it was great!

It was a great day ....and yes, Bean is the talk of the town in her little custom tub-bed :D I'll have to take your word for it on the changes to HM ...the only time I was in it was in 1976 at DL :lmao: It looked great to me though!

The pictures that you got with all the characters are great. I'm most jealous of the ones you got with alice & the mad hatter and also bert and merry poppins. I think we'll be doing much more character pictures this september so I'll have to keep my eye out for them.

The girls (specifically DD11) really go jazzed about tracking down characters - I know the next time we go she'll be looking over the character times/places and trying to arrange the best route to meet them all ;-] Alice and the Mad Hatter were just a lucky fluke, just turned the corner and there they were! I can't wait to tell the tale of the very last characters we got pics with ...hehehe!

Cosmic rays is really good isn't it? Didn't you want to yell at the entertainment after a while though for playing the same stuff over and over? :rotfl: We sat in there for a little bit last september for a break and it got pretty repetative.

Yes, Cosmic Rays was very cool ...but yes, I almost wish it was busy and loud to drown out him talking about "loosening our asteroid belt" 3 times in a row.

Philharmagic ROCKS! :cool1: Thank you for the great reply :-]

Yeah, we figured we'd be doing good by riding during the parade, but I guess a bunch of other people had the same thought :P No biggie though - it was still a fun ride. And yes, PoTC was cool and the changes were fun to see. I'm actually suprised the DDs didn't want to do that one again after riding it 7 times at DL.

The dinner was wonderful other than the noise factor - lots of good memories and yeah, he had a good time and was just very happy to be out with the family :-]

The printer debacle - we'll have to wait a couple of days for it to rear its ugly head again ...bwooohahahaa! It was an interesting change as far as her working as it is usually me who ends up with some sort of server/network crisis at the college that lands me on my laptop trying to fix things remotely or on the phone.

I remember helping our media admin to rebuild a RAID array while waiting in line for the Men in Black ride at Universal :rotfl2:

Look! I got you to a new page!

:dance3: :jumping1: :rainbow: :jumping1: :dance3:

Yay! You're at the top of the page, you're at the top of the page!

great updates, and can not wait for more.

Fauntleroy out.

I hadn't realized we had done so well with the characters, we were just really strategic in dividing up and holding places in lines for the kids and it all just worked out :-]

Whoohoo for Donald's PhilharMagic! And yes - sent on the pic of your hat - I'd love to see it!

Thankee sir - I'll keep it coming!

Ooh - great updates! I'll say, we really lucked out on payroll dates - we were able to do it right before we left. (Dh and I are the only ones allowed to write checks.) I can see where the printer snafu is going to come back to haunt you!

Thank you! And the ladies tried to work out the same deal and did payroll right before we left, but we were gone for 2 full weeks so they had to do another one :P Yeah, that darned printer :headache:

Hehehe, that was an accomplishment, but I was having trouble getting to sleep anyways ...might as well give everyone something to look at and share the fun! The camera is Canon's entry level dSLR the Rebel XT. It was the lens that really made it ...a Tamron SP AF28-75mm F/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF). All that gobbledygook just means that it is a lens that can pull in a lot of light very quickly to keep up with the action :D

Cheers all - I'm running out of daylight for today, but should have Day 3 up tomorrow!

!

awww you wait on me? how sweet!

Well, since you had only ridden the HM in DL in 1976 it should be pretty comparable. According to what I've read, the renovations they did to the HM at MK made it to be very similar to the MK in DL.

oooo I can't wait to hear about the last characters you got pics of. I'm sure you're DD will be helping you navigate to all the characters. How great to have another little planner along next time since she'll be old enough. :thumbsup2

:lmao: glad I'm not the only one that thought he was way too repetative.

:rotfl: having to solve a server/network crisis over the phone while in line for a ride at universal sounds very interesting. I can only imagine the kind of calls you get with people trying to have you solve computer problems over the phone.

:woohoo: thanks for the party! I feel special! :lovestruc

You know how you keep seeing a person post on other PTR's and TR's that you read, but you tell yourself, NO! I will not start reading another TR! I must put my foot down or else I'll be spending ALL day on the dis!

Well, who am I kidding? I'm always on here anyway. What the hay?

I've been seeing you around for a while and decided it was time to check out your report. Now, back to the beginning :)
