Hi everyone~
I am trying to lose about 70 pounds and am hoping that with all of my DIS friends' support I will be able to do so.

I'll give you a quick history--
I just had my first baby 4 months ago. Prior to becoming pregnant I was very athletic & in the best shape of my life. I am a former college athlete so I have always ate very healthy and worked out a few hours a day, every day of the week.

Well, I got pregnant last Feb. and I said "screw it" and I ate everything in site. I was addicted to Kit Kat bars...can't stand to look at them now haha. :) Anyways, during my pregnancy I gained nearly 90 pounds. Don't ask how I gained that much...it's so depressing to think about.

My son was born 4 months ago & I lost about 20 pounds during my time at the hospital. Now I still have to get rid of 70 pounds to get back to where I used to be.

I'm so bummed that I let myself do that and eat so poorly and quit exercising but at the time I was so overwhelemed with emotions it seemed like the easy thing to do.

Today--
I need to get rid of this weight. I feel tired and exhausted all of the time & need to get the stamina I used to have. I work full-time, go to the gym at night & try to spend as much time with my son that I can. It is really hard, but I need to figure out what I need to do to lose weight permanently and make it a lifestyle rather then just another diet.

So, I hope that you can all help me and I can reach my goals. My DH, DS and all of my family are going to WDW Oct. 31-Nov. 14. I doubt I will be 70 pounds lighter by then but I'd like to be at least half way to my weight goal so that I can wear shorts & tanks without feeling HUGE! If anyone has any suggestions, ideas, etc. I would love to hear them.

Have a great weekend:goodvibes

~Becky

PS: My current workout--
Monday-Kickboxing 7pm-8pm
Tuesday-Aqua Fit 6pm-7pm
Wednesday-Cycling 12-1pm, Kickboxing 7pm-8pm
Thursday-Aqua Fit 6pm-7pm
Friday- 60 minutes cardio on treadmill, bike, elliptical
Saturday-Kickboxing 9:45am-10:45am
Sunday-60 minutes cardio on treadmill, bike, elliptical

I have been doing this schedule for almost 2 weeks & haven't lost a pound:confused:

WOW, I can't believe you have the time or energy to work out with a baby and a full time job. WAY too go girl!!!

I am not sure but have you talked to your doctor about your "not" weight loss? Maybe you thyroid (?) is mess up since being preggo?

Good Luck!!! :hippie:

Thank you. I have an awesome husband who is very supportive and gives me "gym time" and I have an awesome gym that has a daycare on-site so I take my son there while I try to get my exercise. I will definitely check with a Dr. because I was thinking the same thing about Thyroid. Have a great day :)

plus muscle is heavier that fat so you may be converting fat to muscle. Have you changed your diet at all? Maybe a food journal to keep track of what you are eating. Good luck you can do it. I just got my 25# clippie today. I have lost 27# since the holiday with 25# being since the end of January. So 70# is doable just keep at it.

I am naturally very muscular, so I am sure that a lot of my body is rebuilding muscle. It's just so frustrating to see the scale go up....

My diet is so-so. I don't eat a lot, but I think that I make poor choices sometimes (example...pizza instead of grilled chicken). I have a DH that lives off of pizza :). That's my goal this next week though is to write down my daily food choices in my new journal I started on this site & I will try to make smarter choices.

Thanks for the support & words of encouragement. :)

HI! and Welcome!

I didn't gain as much as you while pregnant. But I really think that your body will drop that pregnancy weight. Are you nursing? A lot of people swear that nursing helped them drop all their pregnancy weight by itself. I'm not one of those people. My sister is though. My Dr. told me I may not be losing weight because I was nursing and my body was storing the extra fat so my milk would be good. My youngest DD is 2 and I ended up joining weight watchers 8 months ago. She was 14 months old and I still had ten pounds of pregnancy weight to go. I was exercising and "watching" my diet. But I found I needed the plan and the weekly weigh in. I've lost 25 lbs. And it seems kind of slow to me. But I think you are going to drop that weight relatively easily. Especially if you are working out that much. Try not to stress too much. You can't be successful if you are beating yourself up for past choices. You are gonna lose it. Keep up what you are doing. And maybe check into a more healthy eating plan like WW or maybe even sparkpeople.com. They have a nutrition counter and a spot to put in your calories burned. I enjoy that site a lot!

holler if you need anything!

I've started a journal so if anyone wants to follow along during my quest to lose 70 pounds feel free to stop on by :)

I found that adding weights every other day made a big difference for me. I'll do 45-55 minutes of cardio 5 days a week and weights for 20 minutes every other day. In about a month I've lost 7 pounds. I hope this helps.

Hi Becky AK :goodvibes

I can sympothize with your struggle to lose weight AND have the energy to keep up with life. I recently took a good look in the mirror and I didn't recognize the person looking back at me. :confused3 I'm rounder and lumpier than ever. I was determined to make a change right than and there. I had 45 pounds to lose and had to introduce an exercise program. I started walking in mid-February and have lost 12 pounds.

Each month two threads are started; a Weight Loss thread and Monthly Exercise thread. You post the amount of weight and exercise minutes you can reasonable commit to, and post results periodically throughout the month. I joined for the first time in March and committed to 5 lbs and 1000 minutes. I found that updating my siggy helped to keep me motivated and accountable. I was determined to reach my goals.

You're in the right place to get support and encouragement for your weight loss journey. I hope to see you on the April Exercise and Weight Loss threads.

wow,if that's your workout schedule you will be back in shape by your trip I think! good luck:thumbsup2

becky :welcome: to WISH!

now i feel like a rerun but i just posted on another thread, what about your day off to allow your muscles/body to recover from your workouts and rebuild? it's really an important part of it all

ok, that's the mother in me. you have fitness experience and knowledge in your background. i think one positive thing you have going is you sound like you still truly remember that feeling of being fit and healthy and THAT will pull you through the tempting times. who says you have to give up pizza? well maybe fast-food pizza but why not make your own? you can make nutritious yummy pizza!

how about water? are you getting your 8 glasses down each day??

could you be eating too little? you have a very busy active routine and if you aren't eating enough your metabolism will slow way down to compensate -- it's called the starvation response. your body thinks food is off limited supply and slows the metabolism down to survive until food is plentiful again. why can't our metabolism realize we are in the 21st century now, not the stone ages? but yet it's still there. i have been there done that and it will halt weight loss.

or maybe your metabolism is just shifting, readjusting to the new changes all at once and needs to catch up?

just random thoughts here...........
