DH and I are taking a trip to WDW this July for our anniversary. Just us, no kids. We are currently booked at the Wilderness Lodge, woodsview room.

Now I don't know if I'll be happy there or wishing we were at the Polynesian.

We were supposed to stay in a lagoon view concierge room at the Polynesian last September following our Disney Magic cruise, but due to Hurricane Frances, our 7-night cruise turned into a 10-night cruise, so we ended up missing WDW altogether. (We had to get back home because DSs started school the next morning).

I booked the Wilderness Lodge for this upcoming trip because I thought DH would like it. He's made comments about staying at the Wilderness Lodge in the winter (which I doubt we'll ever do), so I figured the WL in the summer is the next best thing. Also, I liked the proximity to the MK which is where we will be spending most of our time. The prices can't be beat, for a deluxe. And I have to say, the pictures I've seen make the WL look absolutely beautiful. I also like the idea of being in the 'main' building of the resort.

But I can't help wondering if I'll regret not booking us at the Polynesian, once we get down there. :scratchin We've had several meals at the Polynesian and fell in love with the resort, but have never stayed there. We will be dining at the Polynesian during this trip, no matter which resort we end up staying at.

By booking us at the WL, I was trying to save us some $$$ because a week before our WDW trip we'll be coming off a 9-night Royal Caribbean cruise.

Help me make up my mind! Poor DH doesn't want to hear my decision-making. LOL He told me to book whichever resort I wanted to. This trip is his anniversary present to me and he wants me to plan whatever I want.

I was half tempted to just book the GF again, but decided against it in favor of a resort we haven't stayed at yet.

So...will it be:

the Wilderness Lodge - less $$$, but still a beautiful deluxe

or

the Polynesian Resort - more $$$, but worth it

UPDATE!

DH and I just looked through a lot of pictures of the WL and he *really* would like to stay there this trip. And I have to admit, the pics of the WL all lit up at night (the view from the lake) are amazing! So.... I just called CRO and changed our ressies from WL woodsview to WL CONCIERGE! :teeth:

Also, DH reminded me that I have promised DSs that I wouldn't stay at the Polynesian without them, and they won't be with us on this (anniversary) trip.

Thanks everyone for voting! I really appreciate it, and I know we will be staying at the Polynesian eventually :sunny:

I remember the debate so well... I ended up chosing the Polynesian, mostly due to the fact I remember the resort as a kid, and my parents saying if only we could afford to stay here... this would be our "dream resort"... years later and so many choices!! But I kept going back to that childhood memory, and booked the Poly, and havent looked back!! It was everything we dreamed it could be, such a respite from the parks!! DD said we went to WDW and Hawaii!!

We're campers, and often stay out of doors, so I went with the tropical feel of the Poly, but that's why, you have to decide what it is you're looking for, and then be at peace with your choice!! ITS DISNEY!! Its such a magical place I know that there is no bad choices!!

We are partial to the WL. We were also going to try the Poly next time, but decided to stick with WL (I have to change my signature still). Either way, I am sure you will be happy and have a wonderful anniversary.

I voted WL because we just stayed there in December and it was beautiful... also I hate the atmosphere of the Poly.... I expect Don Ho to walk out any minute and sing tiny bubbles in the lobby..

Be sure to squeeze in a meal at Artist Point during your trip ~ it was absolutely wonderful!

We are with you, we had ressies for the WL and then changed to the Poly starting this Thursday for 9 nights. We also camp and live in Northern New England. We NEED tropical

But really it depends on what you want, for people down south or the dessert area I imagine that the WL offers something not found locally so it would be a treat.

we have visited both. i think they both are beautiful, but MY DREAM is to stay at the Poly (my husband wants to stay at the AKL) , but since we still go with dd , and usually 1 or 2 friends we will be at the all stars...........haha. I think for us , we have been to the Mtns. around here so much, that i would rather go tropical............either choice im sure you will have fun..................

Very funny.

I voted for the Poly! The Poly is sooo romantic with the tiki torch lit paths and Hawaiian music! I also love the tropical feel! The monorail is also a nice plus also!

i've never been to either, but i think the poly is BEAUTIFUL! why don't you split your stay between the 2..... either way i'm sure you'll have a great time!

We've stayed at the WL before and plan to stay there again this summer. We absolutely fell in love with that resort. Now that I've said that, it has always been my dream to stay at the Poly (ever since I was little I've wanted to stay there.) I voted for the Poly b/c if it is your dream to stay there then go ahead and do it.

Enjoy! No matter where you stay, it is Disney and you'll love it!!
