I just bought DVC and honestly part of me is kinda sad that I won't be taking my vacations at PORS. Has anyone else felt this way? I'm wondering where I can find a current point chart to stay at PORS:rotfl2: They just had to make those moderates so stinkin' nice! Maybe I'll just rent out half my points each year and pay for a stay at PORS.:lovestruc

Not us!! :) as much as we like the POR, we are quite happy to not have to return!! :rotfl2: The extra space for the 5 of us is soooo nice!! :) and having a washer / dryer, and 2 bathrooms.. double bonus!!!

and as my daughters say... Yeah no more lizards!!!!!

You could always eat dinner there. ;)

We too just bought into DVC this past September, and I was kind of bummed about not staying at certain resorts either (POFQ being one of them). We are planning a trip in Jan of 2012 and staying at BLT for 4 nights, however I think I have my DH convinced that we should tack on a couple more nights and stay at our beloved POFQ. If you want to see the point chart for resorts that are not DVC, there should be a section with all of the other point charts on MS website or the packet you have at home with all of the resorts and point charts listed. I could be wrong but it seemed to me that the Moderates and some Deluxe resorts were more points per night then the actual DVC resorts.

We love the Polynesian and still manage to sneak a few nights over there in before heading over to our home at BLT each trip ;)

Not sad but I understand what you mean. Our dd's especially like Pop however we are going to stay our first night at POR on our next trip. We get AP discount and it is better than using points on Saturday. We will probably do that most trips to get our fill of all the "other" resorts but I will never give up my DVC :lovestruc

That was me. I totally missed POR. Even though DVC was not for us and we got rid of it, when we did own it I missed POR a lot. It truly is the only Disney resort where I felt I could decompress.:goodvibes

Log onto dvcmember.com acct.

Then under "Plan My Vacation" located on the right side of the page, click "view vacation point chart"

Then click "Disney Collection"

Then click "Walt Disney World Resorts in Florida"

Then scroll down to page 2 which will display the points for PO.

*** Don't forget you can still book at room at POR using your points you will just have to pay the exchange fee of $95. In the long run if you are staying for 7 days, isn't worth it to pay $95 for an entire weeks stay? We love CBR and use points to stay there.

We own DVC and still LOVE the atmosphere at PORS. We will sometimes stay 2 or 3 nights at a moderate before a longer stay at our DVC resort. This saves us points ( especially on weekends ), without a big out of pocket resort expense. As much as I love PORS, the amenities of the DVC resorts are heavenly.

So funny, I am in the midst of deciding on getting the DVC, been doing TON of research for the past week, but the one thing I can't get past is not staying POP any more.We love POP. Now a family of 5 we need 2 rooms which is why we are leaning in the DVC direction. I am looking forward to reading the responses here. Congrats on your DVC purchase.

POFQ was our favorite moderate resort - we stayed there too many times to count. When we bought DVC 2 years ago, we moved on and never looked back. We stay in 1 and 2 bedroom villas, and POFQ just can't compare. Our family will never go back to staying in a tiny regular Disney hotel room - we are totally spoiled. If you stay in studios, I could understand the sadness more, as the room sizes are more compatible. If you stay in larger villas, the extra room, the kitchen, and the washer/dryer totally make up for leaving one of your favorites behind.

Weird. We are a family of 5 and would really like to stay somewhere besides POR when on a quick trip. Weird how we are in opposite boats!

We've had only one WDW trip, and we're planning another. We bought into DVC before going to WDW. Even though we had a nice long stay planned at OKW (and a bit at AKJambo), we started the stay with two nights at a moderate, because it annoyed me to spend our points for our jet-lag days.

Turns out we didn't really have 2 nights worth of jet-lag, so on our next trip we're only doing 1 night, but we're not using our points for it. We'll either be somewhere else onsite or at the Nick Hotel (DS is interested in it, I'm wavering).

So there's no need to give it up entirely...

After 20+ trips staying DVC deluxe,we are probably doing a 9 day stay at POP or one of the AllStars if free dining is offered for late summer. I'll bring DS, DD and her best friend. That's 4 disney adults with free QS dining for about $100 per night.( Quote comes to $897). We like the QSDP and would normally use most of our points for a 9 night stay and pay $132 per night for the QSDP. So 9 x132= $1188. By staying at a value resort with free QSDP we are saving almost $300 and not using any points. Now, I need to adjust my expectations and keep telling myself and kids that this is a different TYPE of vacation (ie. no hot tubs, community hall), but the values have their own charms ,such as awesome food courts.

For some reason, I can't edit my post above. My point in above post is that just because you own DVC doesn't mean you can't spend a night (or 9!) at your favorite regular resorts!

Nope, don't miss the moderates at all! :lmao:

I do, however, miss the occasional deluxe stay at the CR and miss not having stayed at the Poly. But it's just too nice having the extra space, kitchen, laundry, etc. Even in the studio, the kitchenette is spectacular to have. We definiely use the toaster and microwave.

Though, we have a trip planned that would require banking and borrowing in about 20 months, so maybe in that period we'll give a hotel stay a whirl in the pending "point gap".

Definitely don't miss the moderates or values.

Uhh...

Let's look at that hotel REALISTICALLY

1. Outside corridors
2. No Free internet
3. Double beds
4. No coffee pot

It's not even comparable to your local Marriott Courtyard. but it's "Stnkin' nice" Really, they provide less then ANY hotel chain out there, IMHO that's more like a 'stinkin' shame' and I am glad my DVC keeps me from having to overpay for subpar hotels while still staying on property.

We have been DVC members for 3 years now, and last year, we missed POR so much, we had to have a 5 day trip back! We love Alligator Bayou!

I do sometimes. When Dis has a great Promo like FD. or the buy 3 get 4 free.. I go to FQ. I go more often than the points I have as I try to go 3 times a yr and only have 160 points. So I get transfers usually 10$ a point, sometimes, use Dins Promo's sometimes and no regrets when I use my actual points to my studio or 1 bedroom at BC or SSR too. FQ allows me to stay 1/2 my trip in a 1 bedroom, where otherwise I couldn't with the points I have.

It is 1 of the things that curbs my addonitious. Knowing I can go to FQ for 5-8 nights inc dining and tickets (used to upgrade AP) for 1,600$ - 2,400$. That is why I cannot justify more MF, when I am happy and feel lucky to be here too. I think what I have for our fam is perfect without splurging on points.
