I'M JUST SHOWBOATIN' AROUND THE WORLD! & getting pooped on. Jan 13 TR! NEW TR POSTED!

Loooove your Friend Owl gif.... hahaa! Owls are my fav, and that just made my day. :)

Hahaha thanks, glad you enjoyed it. I thought it was quite perfect!

Yeahhh. That's basically been my issue since November. Co-worker on my team has been out of the office since November, with no real clue as to when she may be back, so I have had NO downtime in the office trying to get both of our work done. Wommmmmmmmmmmmp.

Yeah exactly! It's kind of not fun. I'm not really looking forward to this week of work at all, or next week for that matter. Blergh. I'm hoping I can really cruise through bills tomorrow/Tuesday to give myself some free time to breathe before my co-worker goes on vacation, but we'll see. I feel your pain!

Wow, so many FP's! :worship: Isn't EE at night the best? Like, you think that ride can't possibly be any better, and then you ride it at night! I'm always going to make a point to go to AK at night now! :thumbsup2

Haha, love that you swiped the table at La Cantina! Sometimes you have to, it's ok! I love the nachos there, I don't think I've ever had the churros though, they look so good!!

Oh, I read your comment in my Nov. TR about how you're worried about the heat in September, and you were wondering what happened to me in May...I'll post you the links of the 2 chapters where I talk about my near death experience due to the heat. If you want to skip the first chapter, you can, it's just leading up to me almost dying. But it kind of sets the tone, you know? :rotfl:

The One with the Nice Morning

and

The One where I Almost Die...in Disney World!

I don't know how well you tolerate the heat, but I don't. At all. And it was exceptionally hot that day in May, it's not normally that hot and humid in May, so it was kind of a surprise. I knew I shouldn't have pushed myself like I did (and when I say push myself, all I mean is walking too much and not drinking enough water, not even anything extreme!) but I did it anyway! I also learned that trip that water just doesn't do it for me in that kind of heat, I need Gatorade or Powerade, so if any of this sounds like you, just take it slow in September and drink tons of sports drinks! And take breaks in the air conditioned buildings! :thumbsup2

Yup, totally! I was like a whole new ride at night!! I would love if it's open again late when we're there in September, but I'm guessing it won't be. I'm just happy I got to experience it!

Haha, girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do to get a table! :rotfl:

OMG, I read your updates about your scary experience. I do NOT want that happening when we go at all! I am planning on a lot of breaks, drinking as much water as possible, and will definitely remember the Powerade suggestion! That must have been super scary! I grew up in Boston and the summers would get really brutal (like 95 and 100% humidity with no AC at the summer program I worked at) and I was okay. BUT Seattle doesn't see a ton of humidity, so I'm just planning on easing myself into the heat and knowing what my limits are. I'm so sorry you had to go through that though, that sounded terrifying!

Chapter Nineteen: "NO! I'M SPIDERMAAAAN!"
Day 4: January 20th, 2013

After going full steam for the past few days, we were ALL in need for a little bit more of a relaxed day. Add in the fact that today was supposed to be the busiest day in the parks, by far, due to MLK Jr. weekend, and we thought this would be a good day to spend most of the day taking it easy, until later in the evening.

Matt and I ended up sleeping in until 8:30, and it felt GLORIOUS. Seriously, it was so nice to just get some sleep. I know, we were kind of breaking that cardinal rule of "NO SLEEPING IN DISNEY!" but we were on vacation, and that meant sometimes getting some rest.

Anyway, Matt was a super awesome delightful husband and went and filled up our mugs with coffee (for Matt) and hot chocolate (for me). Did I mention my husband is super awesome?

Pro tip: When making your hot chocolate in your refillable mug, add in a bit of creamer and it makes it 10 times more amazing. I even put a little Hazelnut in mine for a Nutella Hot Chocolate.

I decided to eat the other half of my Carrot Cake Cookie for breakfast, and it was every bit of delicious as it was the night before. Matt decided to eat Poptarts for breakfast, and we really enjoyed a nice relaxing morning in our room.

But... wait...

Do you really think we were going to stay in our room for THAT long?

Yeah, nope..

We both had an itch to head over to Epcot.

I want to say we had made a plan the previous night for this day to just meet up with Bruce and Amy later on at the pool, because we all decided to kind of do our own thing this morning and we wanted Bruce to rest up as much as he could.

So, Matt and I got ourselves ready and headed out the door at 9:30 for Epcot.

Matt gave me a sassy face while we waited for the elevator (oooor I just caught him off guard in taking his photo, you choose).

file_zps775d17e2.jpg

The crowds this morning heading over towards the International Gateway were pretty light, which made for a nice walk over... but trust me, looks can be deceiving. At least we were well-prepared for heavy crowds today.

file_zpsb3506e54.jpg

We strolled leisurely through England and Canada, and headed on over to do some shopping at MouseGear!

file_zps3a3583ac.jpg

I ended up buying a Pluto pillow pet for myself! I couldn't help it; he was just so soft and adorable. I also have it noted that I traded for a Vinylmation, but I unfortunately didn't take a photo. Wompwomp.

I DID get a photo of the pin I traded for; GOOFY! I was on a roll for finding this specific collection!

file_zps4f5edb51.jpg

After we made our purchase at MouseGear, we headed back towards Canada and England so hang out for a bit before World Showcase opened.

file_zps3dd2e49a.jpg

As we were walking, we ran into this group performing. I'd never seen them in Epcot before, but we stopped and watched them for a few minutes before we moved on.

file_zpsa6ef0d43.jpg

We were in no big rush, so of course we stopped to look at the Disney ducks hanging out nearby.

Why are they so cute?

file_zpsf5a42d01.jpg

file_zps92602cbd.jpg

We passed by our friends over at the Limited Time Magic area in Canada, but unfortunately the line was reeeaallly long so we kept moving towards England, even though it was something I wanted to check out.. I just didn't want to wait in a line that long!

Matt needed to run to the bathroom real quick, so I waited for him on a bench nearby. It was so nice to be hanging out that morning in England, taking things easy... I was so happy.

Screenshot2013-03-28at75802PM_zpsa9bfd676.png

As Matt made his way back towards me from the bathrooms, he had this smile on his face. I asked him what he was smiling about, and he told me that while he was in the bathroom, there was a boy and his Dad in there, as well.

Apparently the Dad asked his son, "Do you need help, buddy?"

and the boy responded with: "NO! IIIII'M SPIDERMAAAAN!"

We both cracked up at it when he told me. Why are kids so hilarious sometimes?!

By the time Matt returned, World Showcase had officially opened, so we headed into France!

file_zps0a3b87da.jpg

file_zpsd34fc067.jpg

I know I've said it like 10 times, but I LOVE World Showcase in the morning. It's so quiet and makes it a great time to get photos.

file_zps79dc713e.jpg

file_zpseabfda1d.jpg

While we were in France, we saw more HOVEROUNDS!!!

file_zpsd8dadac3.jpg

We headed straight for Morocco, because we were looking to grab some lunch.

I'd heard that Tangierine Cafe was one of the THE best quick service restaurants in all of Disney, plus you got quite a bang for your buck, and Matt and I love Moroccan food, so this was right up our alley!

file_zps514229b5.jpg

Buuuut unfortunately, Tangierine Cafe didn't open until 11:30, so we still had some time to burn.

Well, what better way to burn some time than to go shop in Japan?!

file_zps64b2c34b.jpg

file_zps362f7ee4.jpg

All of the stuff in Mitsukoshi is awesome. And also? The CMs there are the SWEETEST! I love them.

We looked around for awhile, and spotted all of the Pokemon plushes.

Some of you may remember from my PTR when I went to NYC for work with a co-worker. While we were there, we couldn't find this one specific Pokemon at NintendoWorld that he really wanted to buy for his girlfriend.

Anyway, while Matt and I were looking around, I remembered this and we spotted a Pokemon backpack that looked like the one my co-worker had been looking for. We unfortunately couldn't get a hold of him, so we kept looking when I spotted something I KNEW Matt really would want... A Legend of Zelda hat! So of course, we picked that up for him and he promptly put it on.

file_zps95173eb1.jpg

I thought he looked quite delightful in it!

We left Japan, and Matt finally got in touch with our co-worker who said that was definitely the Pokemon he was looking for, and asked if we could pick it up for him/he'd pay us back. So we turned around and went right back into Japan, picking up the Pokemon backpack for him.

We still had time before Tangierine Cafe was going to open, so we went over to American Adventure because I wanted to try to figure out where they served a specific drink.

file_zpsb7500c91.jpg

I finally found the stand, and at that point we headed back to Morocco. You could say we were just kind of all over the place this morning... but I love those mornings, where you have time to just kind of roam and do whatever you want!

As we got to Tangierine Cafe, I totally had never noticed before the actual tangerine tree right outside.

file_zps4c136316.jpg

We went inside and looked over the menu, trying to figure out what to order. I decided to go with the Sliders combo, while Matt ordered the Shawarma platter.

The grand total for our food came out to $42! So it ended up being a pretty fantastic deal for 2 quick service credits.

As we waited for our food, I snapped a few photos of the guy cooking the food. It looked SO good.

file_zps8c2aa02c.jpg

We were given our massive plates of food, along with our drinks, and the standard dessert that came with it was baklava.

I really wanted to sit outside because it was absolutely beautiful out, so we found a table and sat down to dig into our amazing-looking food!

This was Matt's Shawarma platter. He went with the Chicken & Lamb. It also comes with Hummus, Tabouleh and a Tangerine Couscous Salad with Moroccan bread.

file_zpsceac2e36.jpg

This was my Mediterranean Sliders Combo. This included Three Pita Pockets with Lamb, Chicken and Falafel, with Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onions, Cucumber, and Tahini Sauce. It was served with Lentils, Hummus and Tabouleh.

file_zpsdfcb31b4.jpg

OH. MY. GOD.

This meal was SO SO good. I can't even begin to describe how happy I was that we'd heard about this place and finally decided to go.

Number one, the quality of the food is amazingly fantastic for a Quick Service restaurant. This was stuff you'd normally find at a sit down restaurant!

Number two, the amount of food you got with your meal was ridiculous. We both REALLY loved our lunch, and were beyond happy to be sitting in Morocco on a beautiful day, eating delicious food.

Oh, and can't forget that baklava!

file_zps990b26fb.jpg

This was pretty good, though it was not the best baklava I've ever had. One of my aunts is Greek and makes THE best baklava, but this was still pretty solid.

I think my only issue with it was that it was refrigerated and was a little tough to chew at times because the Phyllo dough was just slightly tough. That, and I was so full from lunch, I couldn't eat it all.

That being said, if you are a fan of this type of Mediterranean-type food, TRY THIS PLACE! It's so amazing and offers a ton of seating both indoors and outdoors. I'd also venture to guess this is one of the more expensive QS places, so if you're on the DDP, even better reason to try it!

After we finished up our lunch, we decided to head back to Beach Club to get changed for some pool time!

Continued in next post

We had the Chicken & Lamb in Tangierine Cafe when we were in WDW this February. I didn't think it was any good but my friend liked it.

You got so many great pictures in World Showcase :cool1:

A) I think you know you're an adult when 8:30 is considered sleeping in really late (Disney or not) :lmao:

B) I love Tangierene Cafe! It's delicious! We usually split one of the Shwarma platters and it's plenty for the 2 of us! (Sometimes I get an extra side of hummus, because I love hummus.)

Sounds like a great relaxing morning in Epcot!! I love the Mitsukoshi store - everything there is so cool! I could spend hours in their kitchenware section, I always want to bring home everything! :rotfl:

Hahaha I think that must have been a high school band. Sometimes different high school bands and chorus groups will get to perform at Disney.

Ya know... I think that was the little boy's way of saying that actually yes, he did need some help. I imagine that it can get difficult for Spiderman to stop for bathroom breaks in that tight suit he wears! :lmao: That is TOO funny though. My son will be Spiderman as well. Or Thor. Either one I'd be fine with.

Hahha I literally don't know what ANY of the food on those plates are... besides like 'pita' and 'chicken' hahaah. But it looks delicious! Will you please explain to me what baklava is? I'm so uninformed.

Again with the fabulous photography! I seriously am having photo envy. I need to learn to use my camera better and then convince myself to take the plunge and carry it with me at Disneyland. I thought I'd taken so many photos of our last trip, but I didn't have nearly enough. I will do better in December!

such a peaceful morning! WS is always so empty and I just love it! I'm usually right at the rope for the dropping and then start the character hunting right then! Lol.

I love the sliders combo! OM NOM! So good!

Okay, you solidified it for me--I've been wanting to try this place and now I know I MUST! Now the only problem will be deciding which platter! I'm leaning towards sliders, but I'm just not sure! And I only have five months to decide :rotfl:!

I seriously love Matt's hat.

And yes, that look in the first picture is definitely sassy. Mr. Sassy Pants right there.

I just love all your in your face photos of each other. So precious. And yes, I think that Matt is indeed a wonderful husband. :thumbsup2

Disney ducks are just cuter than normal ducks.

I love how when looking elsewhere for something from another country... Disney will have it. So awesome!

World Showcase is just the best place to chill. I love it.

Poor Bruce to still feel sick! I was sick last December when we were in Disney, and I HATED it. I know people sa they'd rather be sick in Disney than sick at home, but I'm the complete opposite. I'd rather be home and not feel guilty if I might be ruining other people's plans or feel like I should push myself to go to a park. I hope Bruce gets better and can enjoy what's left of the vacation!

Aww, the little duckling in the water! I had to do a double take because I couldn't find him at first!

That must have been TORTUROUS for the girlfriend on EE! I think the anticipation is sometimes worse than the ride itself. The nerves waiting on that long line probably made everything worse!

HAHA, that's insane that you got so many FPs from total strangers!

Phew, so glad you were able to RIGHTFULLY grab that table before those teenage girls! That stuff irritates me. I hate when people do that with parking spots too.

I've always been intrigued by the food options at Tangierine Cafe, but we never seem to make it there. We're always too hungry while we're in Future World, and we love the salad options (tuna for him, beets for me) at Sunshine Seasons. I like that the shawarma platter has a ton of different things on it. Your sliders looked amazing too though. I like anything made into a "sandwich."

That's too bad that you didn't like it; we thought it was very excellent and were really happy with it! Glad your friend liked it though!

And thank you!

Haha SO TRUE, right?! I was hoping someone would think that. :rotfl:

Oh man, it's so good, and SO much food! I think next time we go in September, we're going to split probably the Shawarma platter because I think it'd be the perfect amount of food for a lunch!

Sounds like a great relaxing morning in Epcot!! I love the Mitsukoshi store - everything there is so cool! I could spend hours in their kitchenware section, I always want to bring home everything! :rotfl:

It was a perfect morning in Epcot!

That store is seriously amazing. They really do that EVERYthing, and it's all so neat!

Such a fun and relaxing morning. I LOVE those!

Yup, exactly. I know they're not as fun or interesting to write/read about, but they're honestly some of my favorite days because it's way more laidback with not a care in the world. :goodvibes

Hahaha I think that must have been a high school band. Sometimes different high school bands and chorus groups will get to perform at Disney.

I dunno what it was! They were marching and it was like a drill team or something. It was definitely interesting to say the least! I'd just never seen that in Epcot.

Bahaha, yes, clearly! It was so cute. And I'm with you... I am hoping for future Spideys or Thors... and I don't care if it's my son or daughter, they will be awesome super heroes.

Hahaha, it's all REALLY good food! Baklava is a Greek-type of pastry. It's made with layers of phyllo dough with chopped nuts and honey. It's amazingly delicious. :thumbsup2

Thank you again!! :) You should totally do it! It's so worth it when you get all these awesome photos. I took well over 2500 this trip, but ended up editing them down of course. 2012 I didn't bring my camera around much at all, but I'm glad I did for 2013. I will most definitely be doing it in September again!

such a peaceful morning! WS is always so empty and I just love it! I'm usually right at the rope for the dropping and then start the character hunting right then! Lol.

I love the sliders combo! OM NOM! So good!

It was a perfect morning and just what we needed! It's a smart time to go character hunting for sure!

It's so good, I wish I could eat it right now for dinner. NOM.

And yes, that look in the first picture is definitely sassy. Mr. Sassy Pants right there.

Yes, you must! All of that food is delicious! I personally enjoyed the sliders because I LOVE pita bread and enjoyed the pockets, but the shawarma looked super amazingly good, too. These 5 months are going to seriously fly by!

Yeah, I knew he had to have that hat as soon as I saw it!

Hahaha, Matt is a SASSY MAN!!! :rotfl:

Great updates!:thumbsup2 Keep em coming:cool1:

YAY! Should have a new one here quite soon!

I just love all your in your face photos of each other. So precious. And yes, I think that Matt is indeed a wonderful husband. :thumbsup2

Disney ducks are the best!!

It's so true! Disney comes through when you need them to, and it's a darn good thing!

World Showcase is a wonderful place to just relax and take it easy, especially in the morning.

Poor Bruce to still feel sick! I was sick last December when we were in Disney, and I HATED it. I know people sa they'd rather be sick in Disney than sick at home, but I'm the complete opposite. Yeah, I felt really terrible for him. Being sick in Disney is THE WORST. I am totally with you; I would NOT want to be sick in Disney, would much rather be sick at home! You could tell there was the feeling of guilt even though we just told him not to worry and get better!

Haha I know, it was kind of hard to take a photo of since I didn't have my zoom lens, but he was there!

I think it was torturous for her!! She seemed to be upset but also seemed to secretly like it? I dunno, it was funny though.

The FPs were amazing to get! I couldn't believe they gave them all to us!

Yeah, that stuff drives me nuts, I was NOT letting them get my spot! Haha.

Both dishes are amazingly good! I like the sliders for the same reason as you; I really like sandwiches! I highly suggest giving it a shot if you like something very different than the normal stuff you find in the parks. It's so good!

I've been lurking... I love your trip reporting style! I'm totally hooked!

Thank you for coming out and commenting!! :) So glad you're reading along and enjoying it!! :goodvibes

Ah...so nice to sleep in sometimes! ...ok, I have no idea what you are talking about. What is this "sleep in" that you speak of?!?!? :lmao:

WS is AWESOME right when it opens! I love it. Really strange that it didn't open until 11:30, I'm pretty sure in November Rey & I were there right at 11. Anyways...

I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Tangierine Cafe!!!!!!!! Absolutely love it and have only missed it once out of 5 trips. It is my ALL TIME FAVORITE CS restaurant to eat at in Epcot...actually, I cannot think of a CS place in all of WDW that I love more. I get the vegetarian platter and it's just fabulous and fresh. I don't love the baklava either, but I don't think I really like baklava that much? :confused3

Great, now I'm hungry.

I agree, it IS awesome... but yes, I was confused... then I looked it up on my iPhone and sure enough,Tangierine doesn't open until 11:30! :confused3

I know how much you love it, and man, NOW I KNOW WHY! It's so so good! I can't wait to eat there again. I love that it's something way different than any other CS place offers, and delicious, too!

Chapter Twenty: I'm just Stormalongin'... and being walked in on.
Day 4: January 20th, 2013

As we left off, we were heading back to our room to get ready for some pool time! WOOWOO!

When we got back, I finally was able to take a photo of my new Pillow Pet! Look at that little guy.

file_zps28d65eec.jpg

We got ourselves changed into our bathing suits and headed down to Stormalong Bay.. AKA, the best swimming pool on Disney property!

You want a lazy river? You got it.

You want a mini whirl pool? You got it.

You want sand-bottom pools and waterfalls? Yep.

You want a slide that starts out in a sunken Pirate ship and is of water park levels of fun? Yup, it has that, too.

That pool has it all! And I was SUPER thrilled that the pool was not separated by a wall this time.

Last trip, they were doing some work on the pool and separated it in half by walls. So, the only way to get from the lazy river to the sand-bottom pool was to get up and walk ALL the way around to the other entrance.

It was a huge pain because unless you were okay with leaving all of your stuff nowhere near you, you had to basically choose which side you were going to hang out on for the day.

So yeah, we flashed our room keys, got our exclusive fancy wristbands, and headed on in! We looked around for Bruce and Amy, but didn't see them, so we headed into the pool to play around.

Matt and I messed around in the quicksand area of the sand-bottom pool, which is way too much fun. We spotted Bruce and Amy while we were in the pool and waved at them. They hopped in, and it was nice to see Bruce up and running!

He was still not feeling very well, but he was at least better than the day before. They told us that they had basically spent their morning relaxing around the resort in their room, which I think they both needed.

We swam around with them, and eventually got out to lay in the sun.

file_zpsf86bd479.jpg

There really is something about that first swim in Stormalong Bay that just screams, "I'M OFFICIALLY ON VACATION!" every time. Laying in the sun and relaxing, it was perfection.

Bruce and Amy decided to head back early because Bruce still wasn't feeling well. :( He wanted to rest a while longer before we headed out later in the afternoon, so it was definitely for the best.

Matt and I hung out for around a half hour later, then headed back up to our room to get ready for our fun evening ahead!

Except, we couldn't get into our room.

Why? Mousekeeping was in there. And it was bad timing because I REALLY had to go to the bathroom. WOMPWOMP.

So we waited around for what seemed like an eternity in the hallway, when Matt finally went and checked around the corner and noticed that they were completely done with our room. YAYAYAY!

We got into our room, and I was in the bathroom, getting ready to jump in the shower, when I heard a knock at our room's door.

Matt got up from the bed to get the door and before he even got there, a Mousekeeper lady was WALKING INTO OUR ROOM.

...

UM WHAT.

I was LIVID. I mean, it's one thing to knock and WAIT for someone to come to the door to answer it, or knock a few times before you just BARGE into our room... but this woman literally walked in after knocking really quickly and not even waiting more than 2 seconds for Matt to get to the door.

When she walked in she was surprised we were in there... how, I do not know.

Her reasoning for coming in?

She couldn't find her cell phone and thought she left it in our room. I heard Matt tell her that it definitely was not in our room, and she left.

I found this to be absolutely unacceptable. What if one of us was changing in the room? I mean, seriously. Thankfully we weren't, but it was really shocking that this woman barged in like that. Yeesh.

What's insane to me is that I've heard this isn't the first time this has happened recently. Our in-laws were at Disney the week after we got back and walked in on some random construction man in their room! Like, what the heck?! I don't understand how this is okay, but I do know that from here on out, I'm making sure we're extra careful with stuff in our room. I really dislike random people just walking into resort rooms.

END RANT.

Anyway, after showers and changing, we went into the hallway and waited for Bruce and Amy to meet us out there... by taking a photo together!

file_zps5f6cf8f3.jpg

Once Bruce and Amy came out from their room, we all made our way over to Epcot!

It didn't seem very busy as we walked towards the entrance...

file_zps72b02b95.jpg

But that was a big lie, because this is what we walked into:

file_zps666cc039.jpg

It was BUMPIN' in England! Such a huge difference from our morning in World Showcase.

While we were walking through England, I walked past a guy who looked a LOT like Kenny the Pirate, the blogger who is known for having all the information on character schedules, etc.

I tweeted about it, since I follow him on twitter, and sure enough he replied that it was indeed him, and that I should have said hello! Haha, I didn't want to be a weirdo in case it wasn't him, buuut yeah. I'll have to remember that in future trips.

We made our way towards Future World and stopped for some photos, because we obviously had to.

After taking a few photos, we stopped to watch the Fountain do a little dance. I love that fountain.

We finally got to the front of the park, and Monorail Lime went by!

On our way out of Epcot, I wanted to stop to get a few PhotoPass photos of the four of us!

I also had the PP photographer take a few shots on my camera.

She was literally ROLLING ON THE GROUND trying to take this photo, bahaha.

I had to explain to a lot of PP photographers that I had a prime lens, so there was no zooming in or out. This lady was going all out for us, trying to get the perfect shot, even though I told her not to worry about fitting in Spaceship Earth in the background.

But in the end, I thought the photos came out pretty darn good! I appreciated the rolling-on-the-ground effort she put into our shots.

We made our way out of Epcot and over to the buses... and saw a Wilderness Lodge bus sitting at the stop! Matt decided to book it over there for us so we could make sure we'd get on, and we did! YAY!

We sat in the back of the bus, and I took a photo of Matt staring off into space or something.

Then we were entering the Magic Kingdom area! YAYAYAY!
