I'm just hearing about Disney Vacation Account

And I have questions...

The first...Can I use this account to pay for my cruise if I book the cruise through Costco?

Yes. If you book through a TA (costco) and want to pay with your Disney Vacation Account you are supposed to call Disney directly to do the payment. They don't want you to give your account information to the TA.

When I booked through Costco, they had me on conference call with the Costco TA and the DVA person and we got it done that way.

Yes, I did that myself. I booked the cruise with Avoya Travel, saved up using the DVA, and once I saved up enough to pay the remaining balance I called Disney to pay it off. This process is a little confusing. I located my account number on the DIVA website. I called the phone number that they provided and was told that I would have to call my TA. I called my TA and she said that I would have to call Disney directly. I then called the cruise line and they got DVA on a conference call and did the transfer to pay for my cruise.

I continued saving using DVA. At about 10 days before the cruise, I used the same process to move more savings over to my onboard account.

Once your travel agent has booked your reservations and you are ready to make a payment, your travel agent can provide you with your reservation number. Also, if there are any funds left over, you can get a refund (read the fine print for specifics) or use it towards another Disney adventure. I've used DVA for DCL, ABD, and DL. Of course, if you have leftover funds it is easy to think about what other Disney fun you can have vs asking for a refund -I'm speaking from experience here.....
