I'm in a good mood - just bought tickets to Southern California for Christmas Week

and didn't have to mortgage the house to pay for them. I've been tracking prices for several months and this week is EXPENSIVE!!!! I wanted to go to visit family and this is the only week my DD has off school. I found an affordable flight this morning (not cheap by any means, but at least it was doable). Hotels seem to have decent rates for that week too. I am so excited. I have an Aunt who is really not getting any younger and I haven't seen her for 5 years. I can't wait. I also get to see my nephew (with the serious girlfriend whom I only know through facebook) and a whole bunch of cousins.

I saw an article on Yahoo News yesterday that said usually people who are flying around the holidays get a better deal by buying in advance but that is not the case this year. Glad you got a good deal. Enjoy your trip!

Yes, it was very strange. I've been looking for fares since pretty much August and this is the best I've seen them. The times are not great, but doable and we have middle seats not next to each other for two legs of the flights, but hey, We're going!!!
