I'm hearing Captain EO returning is a done deal...

I had heard through the my information grapevine that the return of Captain EO in 2010 was a done deal and visiting Scream Scape a few days ago backs that up. Looks like we will see this return to the parks...figured it was only a matter of time after Jackson's death...

Is it just returning to Disneyland or is WDW also included? I had heard that it was a done deal for Disneyland and that the imagineers had already screened is several times. The last I heard, it was not certain if Captain EO would return to WDW.

I hope it's up and running when we visit DL at the end of April. I'll be interested to see what my daughters think of it. I suspect they'll just say it's a cheesy scifi flick.

Not trying to start a big arguement or anything...but is Disney nuts? Why not have OJ come host an attraction too? He was found not guilty too. I'm not saying I believe that either is guilty, just that A TON of people do and this would be horrible press for them. Remember, the people that are against something always speak louder than the people that are for something.

I have so far only heard about it for DL, and for a limited time only.

Screamscape has it coming to EPCOT by summer 2010. This movie was terrible when I saw it as a kid, I can't imagine it's aged well.

Well, this might be the new thing in the "honey I shrunk the audience" place popcorn::

Well I think that's Disney's plan...open Captain EO for a while because MJ fans will go see it, and meanwhile they don't have to worry about a replacement for the REALLY OLD and outdated HISTA

You know, we went to HISTA in August and it's still a pretty good show. I can't imagine replacing it with an even older and even cheesier sci-fi flick.

Well, I think in DL this could work...I think Disney is thinking, MJ is back in the news and popular again, at least for a brief time and unless there is some major sequel to Honey I shrunk...something, I seriously doubt it will gain any popularity.

I'm not saying that HISTA isn't old and unpopular, just saying that it's still a decent show and will be better than an even older and cheesier Capt. EO. I really think DL is doing it as a tribute more than anything. I don't think they expect it to be wildly popular for the next 5 years.

It seems quite silly that Disney would take a step back in time and replace HISTA with the very thing that was there before it.

As much as I would love to see Captain Eo again, I'm not sure that replacing HISTA with it would be a smart move.

Right, I'm not saying Captain EO is better, because I watched it on youtube again for the first time in 20 years and it is definitely dated and cheesy...but some people would still love it, I'm sure.

I hated Captain EO when it played in the parks in the 80's even though I am a Science Fiction fan and I don't mind Jackson's music.
I still enjoy Honey I shrunk the Audience.
I think it is fine that they want to bring back EO for a temporary performance.
We all know how "temporary" many Disney items are.

I do hope they bring it back for a short time to WDW. I would liek to see it again on the big screen. I liked it as a kid and every so often watch it on You Tube. But by no means should it be somethign that is should stay around for good.

I hope this is false. Why give this deviant more publicity?

I'll be very excited to see this! I went to WDW for the first time in 1992, but didn't go to Epcot that year. When I finally went to Epcot in 95, there was no Captain EO. I've watched it on Youtube, but it's not the same experience.

I wouldn't mind seeing EO again, but I hope they are also working on a new movie for those theaters. But Disney hasn't really had a good live action sci-fi type movie for a while, unless they could adapt the Witch Mountain themes.
