We've been to WDW 6 times in 4 years. Combine that with the sweet deal that UO is offering and you've got yourself the makings of a Disneyless Orlando vacation for my clan. It's going to cost exactly 1/3 of what a trip to WDW for the same number of days would cost. We decided Sunday (1/8) that we would leave Monday (1/15). Talk about short notice! I don't know one thing about UO, but I've been studying like a fiend.

I am excited about the new adventure, but I am a but wistful about going all the way to FL and not seeing Mickey  .

You'll have a great time! We love Universal just as much as we love Disney. There's really no comparing the two, they're both great just in different ways.

Have a great trip!

Oh I know, we had done Universal also and is not the same, we felt sad and empty. We rather go to Disney or not going at all, is not the same magical feeling.

In 2004 we went to Miami for our summer vacation and on our way back we went to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, it wasn't planned at all, we just had to do it, DH works for Marriott so we used our free associate stay at the Orlando World Center.

But have fun at Universal, the rides are great.

I love Universal too, you will have a lot of fun there.

Don't feel dirty... Mickey will be waiting for you next time you come by.

How dare you! ;)

If you feel the need for a Disney fix (and if seeing the billboards all around don't cut it), you could always take a drive over to Downtown Disney...

US/IOA are wonderful parks in their own right. Sure they aren't Disney, but that doesn't make them "bad". In fact the kids and I prefer US/IOA to WDW, although after 5 trips in the last 1 1/2 yrs we are ready to visit WDW again (haven't been to WDW since summer 2002)

When I went to US my first time, it was also my last time. Too sad, not the same, no Mickey, no magic, no fun

But on a happy note, I love spending time with my family, and I'd take a trip to US over nothing at all. . . maybe ;)

Universal Rocks!
Make sure to ride The Revenge of the Mummy....one of the most awesome rides....live fire roars over your head!

I like its harder edge...nice break from all that disney sweetness.

We spend equal time at both now. I think that Universal is every bit as much fun in its own way as Disney personally. Just don't expect Disney because the attitude and style is completely different.

The Loew's hotels are very nice, the food is just as good and the rides are just as well-designed and fun as at WDW. Sure there's no castle and no princesses (unless you count Fiona) but they're just not interested in that type of thing. I think that while Disney appeals to the child in us, Universal appeals to the adventurous spirit.

Shame on you! :rotfl2: Seriously, we love Universal...and I am a WDW addict. I love staying onsite at Universal (the hotels are wonderful), not having to wait in lines, Emeril's restaurant at the Royal Pacific hotel, citywalk, and the rides (spiderman and the Hulk!) You will have a fantastic time. It is not the same as WDW but a LOT of fun.

We finally had to realize that NOTHING compared to disney, but that we wanted to experience new things, and we love all of our trips.

Universal is a blast, and more fun than Disney in many ways, especially depending on the ages of your children.

I love Universal, and I can't wait to go back. If I had the choice, I would go to Universal first before Disney.

Universal is FUN! Disney is wonderful...Florida is just a great time all over. Nothing wrong with enjoying other things!!!

Wow that is short notice! I am sure you will have a "Great" Time! ;)

We go to Universal and IOA every trip and LOVE IT

We Love WDW too

They are both Great parks in there own way

HAVE A GREAT TIME AND ENJOY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another Universal Lover here too. Don't worry about Mickey he will forgive you. Have a wonderful trip! :cool1:

We love Universal. I haven't been a couple years, but my DH is starting to think about our next trip there (he generally stays home when I go to WDW). The parks are wonderful with more thrill rides. Different than Disney, but a lot of fun. Have you checked out the Universal forum?

I hope you're staying in one of the Universal Hotels. Their service and the FOTL access will make you feel like royalty..."lines, what lines... we don't wait in no stinkin' lines..."
