I'm going to Universal and I feel so...dirty

Wow that is short notice! I am sure you will have a "Great" Time!

Actually we find it quite fun doing stuff on the spur of the moment. Kind of adds to the adventure

And yes, the Universal forum on DIS has been a great help... a required part of my study.

Oh I know, we had done Universal also and is not the same, we felt sad and empty. We rather go to Disney or not going at all, is not the same magical feeling.

But have fun at Universal, the rides are great.

That's how we felt also. in 2004 we planned 3 nights after spending 6 nights at WDW. As we were driving down the street to HRH (Very nice), my DH and I both said it doesn't have that extra feeling. We left one day early.

USF is alot of fun. I love WDW but I really enjoy USF also. (MY husband likes USf better and I have a feeling next trip it will eclipse WDW for my boys as well) In fact when we go back to Florida it will probably involve a trip to USF. We will probably do WDW and the cruise again in 07 or 08 when the bun in the oven is 1 or 2.

I would choose either of the Universal parks over one of the Disney parks anyday. No reason to feel "dirty," they are great parks and if you go into your vacation with a negative attitude you may not enjoy it as much as you could/should.

You will have a great time! Universal is an top notch resort with tons to offer. Our family much prefers a Universal vacation over a Disney vacation.

USF AP holder here, always fun. Not sure about a week there, but always great for a day or two for me. Enjoy.

It always amazes me how bad a rap Universal gets. To the point where I start doubting the person knocking them. The rides in both parks are just as themed as anything in WDW, and it many cases blow their similar counterpart in WDW away. Maybe the CM's, but unless something goes wrong, CM's don't enter the picture IMO.

My DH wants to go to UO on our next trip. I was happy to say yes so long as it's the first day there, that way we can spend the rest of the time in WDW. I can't imagine going all the way to FL and not seeing the mouse. But then again we can only go every other year. I hope you have a great trip!

Please go in not expecting WDW. Different isn't bad. Of course we all have different taste, so I know not everyone is gong to love US/IOA.
US/IOA have their own magic IMHO. My first impression of IOA was "wow they out disney'ed Disney". The theming is excellent.
