Well, I put my feelers out for a 6th grade math position in our community middle school, and have landed in a 7th grade math interim, which may or may not turn into something permanent (either way is fine with me)
I have never taught seventh grade. I taught 6th grade for 3 years, but that was when our sixth grades were in the elementary schools. I am excited, but a little intimidated/nervous about being in a middle school environment.
I love that the kids are more independent. I love that I will be teaching math ALL DAY! (except for one reading class) and I really LOVE the fact that I will have two hours for planning and lunch each day. (Boy, elem. teachers get the short end of the stick on that one)
If there are any seventh grade (or middle school) teachers out there that can give me advice or encouragement, I'd appreciate it.
I just got the job yesterday, and my first day is MONDAY. Talk about short notice, lol.
