So I am so excited!! Last week we became DVC members...and now I want to have our wedding in Disney...we decided to get married on the beach, because that is what I have always wanted (Disney weddings are just to much...)
we will be having about 20ish people, maybe two or so more, maybe two or so less...it depends. (there will be a two teens, and two children-the rest are adults)
But I have so many questions, mainly being, being we have twenty or so people, and since we are not " a Disney bride and groom" would we be able to get reservations at a restaurant for like desert and cocktails and get a wedding cake, (our reception will be at Cocoa beach-only time we are not doing something on property)-lol
I really want to do something special for desert with the cake and all...and i want it Disney...any ideas would be amazing (I love desert! so I realyh want that)

Anything you could tell me would be great!!

Hi!
We're new DVC members too, and doing a vow renewal off property, but the rest at disney! There is lots you can do!! Feel free to PM me... but here's what we are doing:

Meal at Grand Floridian (private dining- you can even hire characters if you like! We are having mickey come, mainly for our children), and this is including a vow renewal cake they are doing for us. You could do a meal at any restaurant not in the park and wear your dress - I'm not sure which ones can do a cake for you though, or what the size limits are of private dining. I am bringing a photographer to this (who is also going to be at the actual VR)

Dessert Party in Japan- this we are doing the next day, and I won't be in my dress, mostly to make life easier with the kids! However, if you wanted to do something in your dress, you could do this and change, or you could schedule a fireworks cruise in your dress- maybe use 2 pontoons for your group, or the grand one yacht. You can also hire disney photography if you like, or bring one along.

Bridal Portrait- I'm doing a bridal portrait at Epcot (so you can be in your dress for this). I believe you can do the bridal portrait at any park except MK- I'm not totally sure on HS and AK, because we were only interested in epcot, but I had read that somewhere before. You can also do a honeymoon photoshoot at any of the parks, and resorts too I believe.

Hope that helps! :thumbsup2 Good luck and have fun planning! :goodvibes

Thank you so much!

I was just wondering, who would I talk with about doing this, would I have to talk to a bridal person because that would (I think) be to expensive. Or would I be able to set that up with somebody else? I have know Idea what I am doing...

Have you found someone to do the ceremony yet? Most times Officiants can direct you where to go as far as wedding coordinators and planners. Some Ministers, such as myself, do the planning for you and make the calls so that way there's less stress. Feel free to PM me for a list of vendors you can contact to help you get going. It's not that far away.
Good luck!
;)

What I did was call/email all of the places myself. So, the restaurant you want to go to you decide on (I actually called a few places and changed my mind after getting more information on the phone about cakes- and I found out about the private dining option on the boards right after that)... disney recreation for a boat rental (I didn't call on this, but it's who you would call, and disney photographic services for the bridal or honeymoon portrait. Everyone we spoke with was very helpful and will pass you on to the right person if need be! :thumbsup2

So, If I am not an 'Official Disney Bride' I can still have my own photographer do our bridal photos in one of the resorts? popcorn::

I'm not sure the extent of all the rules- you would want to make sure you were up front about anything you did. We are bringing our own photographer to our meal at the grand floridian and that is ok, and it would have been fine on the boat as well, because I had asked about that. You can hire a disney photographer to do a bridal portrait- I do not know everywhere they do them, except that MK is out unless you are an official disney bride, but we are doing it at epcot. Contact disney photographic services for more info on that.

So I called Disney event planning this morning, and they are going to hook me up with an event planner, because I think I am going to do a desert party in Epcot! (the lady on the phone was funny, she was like - I just want to warn you so that you are aware that you can not where your wedding dress.../I was like "of coarse I know that"- she was like oh...most people don't know that...) It kind of made me feel better...like I was not as scared and nervous about the whole wedding thing...I had a bit of a foot up...Now I just have the whole other part to plan...lol Its a lot to do when nobody wants you to get married in the first place...

Thanks ladies! :worship:

lurkyloo I actually bought your book, and have been using it as my Wedding Bible, this is the first question I have had that wasn't specifically addressed it it!
:rotfl2:

Is there anyone who knows where I can find, or possibly has the fantasmic desert party menus? I found the one for Illimunations...but I was thinking that maybe it would be cooler to do fantasmic...I was just wondering!

Also...while Disney doesn't necessarily put controls on what you do with photogprahy in the resorts, you DO need to watch that you don't try to have your photos in the same area and at the same time as a couple that is getting married on the property. If that happens, they do have the right to ask you to move to a different area.

I'm so glad to hear it's been (mostly) helpful! :goodvibes

If you check out this site, they have some 2009 DHS dessert party menus. I can't imagine they've changed a whole lot for 2010. The one thing about a Fantasmic! dessert party is that Fantasmic! is much more likely to get cancelled due to weather than IllumiNations, and there are fewer showings of it to choose from. However, their desserts sound so much better than Epcot's that I, for one, would be willing to risk it! :rotfl:

Thank you so much!! I have not seen this site yet! (I love your book! -I have been sick for the last three days, and I read the whole thing in one day!) I am finding so much information!
