I am flying :worried: down to North Carolina 9/22 for a long weekend to visit relatives. I am flying out of Newburgh to Dulles and then onto Raleigh. There are no airlines up this way that have direct flights to Raleigh so I have to change planes...something I have NEVER done alone before. :scared:

Please send major pixie dust and don't worry, I will remind you right before too ;)

Can anyone give me info on Dulles?

Depending on the airline you are using, Dulles should not be a problem. Most of the airlines have their gates grouped together, but if you have to switch terminals you just have to get on the shuttle and ride to the other terminal. The shuttles are mid terminal and are clearly marked.

All Independence's short haul flights arrive and depart from the same terminal (A) and the gate agent that meets your plane is very good about letting you know where the gate for our connecting flight is.

They will hold an outgoing flight for late arriving incomming passengers.

Don't worry!

I agree, the I-Air gates are all clustered around one end of a terminal. You simply walk off your flight and look for the I-Air person (I typically see them in Izod-type shirts) who can direct you to the correct near-by gate. The 3 times I have flown them this year, I have found them to be very friendly. Sometimes, they will have 3 planes leaving from 1 gate so they will be posted at each door after you turn in your boarding pass so you get on the right plane! And there are lots of signs and TV's with gate info.
You can also ask your flight attendant as you board to make sure you are at the right place.
No worries, mate!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I am incredibly nervous about changing planes but with I-Air in one terminal that has eased my mind. Now if I could just get all of my girlie stuff in a carry-on so I wouldn't worry about my luggage...I'd be ok!

The only problem at Dulles is that there are MANY delays. The upside is that is your flight is delayed, your connecting flight will probably also be delayed. As other posters have said, switching planes is not a problem at Dulles. Be prepared to sit on the runway either before you take off on your originating flight, when you land at Dulles, when you take off from Dulles or all of the above. There are not enough gates and things get backed up, so many times they won't let your flight into Dulles take off until they think there will be space available at a gate. Don't worry. Good luck. You will do fine. Try to even have fun!!!!
