Let me explain what happened here and please tell what, if anything, I should do:

DH and I arrived at CR on Sunday and went to the SoG office to get a Stars and Stripes Pass for 2 days, because DH had to report to duty early Tuesday morning. So we would only have a one-night stay at the CR. We went to the CM, a young lady, and asked her for a 2 day Stars and Stripes Pass specifically. And I'm positive that's what DH asked for, I heard him. So she gave us the tickets, we paid. Came out to about $300, and we didn't think much of it at the time. The price was not a big concern for DH, we were running late and wanted to get to Epcot soon. The CM didn't discuss any details, just took our payment and gave us the passes.

Well we didn't realize it until we got to Epcot but the tickets we got were for 3 days. It would have been ok, but obviously we would not be able to use the third day since DH had to be back in Jacksonville on his ship. So we wasted that third day. We went back to the SoG office the next day and told the CM's there what happened, but they said there was nothing they could do since the tickets were nonrefundable. We felt pretty gypped! Is this true? Is there anything we can do? I feel bad having paid for an extra day for both of us and we didn't even get to use it, but it wasn't our fault. I won't be terribly disappointed if there is nothing we can do about this, it's not a huge loss. But I just want to know if there is any way we can be compensated.

First of all, isn't WDW having a promotion right now where active military and their families get in free or half price? Second point, can the 3rd day be used at another time? I know that hoppers never expire. Was it a UPH or park hopper? I fee badly that you may not have recieved the military discount!!

I just checked on the military promotion at WDW. Starting May 12 all active military recieve a complimentary multi day pass to WDW theme parks. Family members recieve discounted passes.

The Stars and Stripes Pass are like Length of Stay Passes but for military, at a discounted price. To answer your question, the passes expire after your stay is through. When we got back, we just heard about the new offer of free passes for military and discounted passes for families. I don't know if we'll make it back to FL soon, since this week-long trip to visit DH took out a big chunk of our savings. We would like to. The promotional offer right now expires Dec. 19 so we'll see how our finances go. I don't mean to gripe about it, but we did pay for an extra day for 2 of us. If there's nothing we can do about that, then no big deal. I just wanted to know if there was something i could do, or if I should just let it be.

With a one-night stay, they should have only given you a two-day Stars and Stripes pass; clearly it was their error, since the pass expires at the end of your visit. Definitely write to SoG management to seek a refund.

The thing about all of this that bothers me is that your husband could of got in for FREE. Instead it looks like you were over charged?!

All I can tell you is to keep calling and talking with everyone you can. A year ago ( we belong to the DVC and our reservations is booked on points we have) we were booked into a room at the WVL. It was studio. I could not get the date I had orginally wanted and took another date, but was put on a wait list for the date I really wanted. Well it came through and they gave me that date, but put me in a one bedroom room which would have cost me more points. Everytime I called I was told there was nothing they could do about it. I was getting mad as how could they spend more of my points than I had orgianlly planned on using. Fianlly after many calls, a lovely lady found out they had made a mistake when they changed the dates. someone had change our orginal ressi from a studio to a one bedroom, so when the new dates came that I had orginally wanted opened up they put me in a one bedroom instead of the studio If I had not kept calling to get this straigthend out I would have been put in one bedroom and spend more points than I wanted to spend. Just keep calling and telling everyone, ask for a manager and go form there. Don't let them tell you there is nothing that can be done. A word of advice; you don't ask or waste your time talking to someone to do something they don't have the authority to do, ask for the person that has the authority to do it.

GOOD LUCK!!!

This is bothering me :( ......the person working for SOG that sold you the Stars and Stripes made 2 errors. 1. they charged you for an extra day, you were only staying one night. Didn't know they could sell you a "length of stay" for longer than your length of stay even. 2. I feel they should have informed you of Disney's Armed Forces Salute offer. You would have paid $99 for you and free for your DH. You would still have 3 use days left that would expire Dec. 19. This would have saved you $200 and you would have 3 days of fun to use if you made it back to WDW. I'm sorry this happened. Too late for a total refund (free pass is through Disney not through SOG) but I would hope you are refunded the difference between 2 and 3 days. Best wishes.

She bought the tickets at SoG, and if it's like it was last year, the free military tickets have to be picked up at Guest Relations at the parks. The person at SoG might not even have known about the free tickets.

The person at SoG might not even have known about the offer. Also, if the offer is the same as last year, the tickets would have expired within 5 days (7 days last year) of first use, so they wouldn't have been any good later on.

I do feel bad about them selling you too many days, but as for the Armed Forces Salute, I don't think that the SoG employee did anything wrong, assuming he/she didn't know about the special offer.

The wording of this year's special is different than last. Says they expire Dec. 19 instead of 5 days from first use. Still, I called to make sure. I was happy to hear that you can use the days up until Dec. 19. Universal's offer this year, however, does expire 5 days from first use. You are right that the employee might not have known about the offer. I was thinking that sales for tickets would already be down at SOG and the workers would be aware of why. Better to give the benefit of the doubt than to assume they just wanted the sale.

Yikes:eek: ! I feel bad for you. SOG "should" know, IMHO, about the free offer since their ticket sales are probably down to nothing. I would write SOG about the mistake with the 3 days instead of 2 though. Send them a copy of your room confirmation that shows a one night stay(even with 2 nights you can drop a day). Good luck!

I had a ticket problem once, simliar but not military and wdw guest relations handled things to my satisfaction. I wrote a politely worded letter explaining the entire situation and enclosed copies of my passes and receipts along with my hotel express check out bill.

I don't have the snail mail address handy but will post it as ap if you like.

I can't say who should have known what where or when but it does seem like mistakes were made. It may be worth your time to let SOG and WDW Guest relations know what happened if for no other reason than to help make sure it dosen't happen to someone else.

I learned to double check my receipts, and whatever ticket you buy carefly before you leave the counter. To bad we had to learn the hard way !! Hope you can make it back to WDW and thanks to you and your DH for your service.

TJ

I wouldn't bother contacting WDW Guest Relations on this issue, as SoG is really responsible for all of the ticket sales from their store.

SOG must of known about the military offer as their ticket sales had to of been down. I think this ticket snafu at SOG should be brought to their attention.

I'm glad to see that the 5 day passes don't have to be used consecutively. This way we can hit SeaWorld in the middle of the week instead of the first or last day. Did you happen to ask if there was a way to add any additional days? If our only option to add a 6th day is to buy 4 one day one park passes, it doesn't seem worth it to do more than 5.

I totally agree with what BibbidiBobbidiBoo said.Write and call SoG.Ask for a supervisor. This is terrible that the CM didn't know or tell you about the special.:( I'm a former military wife and know how sometimes money can be tight and every penny counts. For we as guest to continue to get the first rate service we've come to expect Disney NEEDS to be informed of their mistake! Believe me when we the "guests" squeak THEY LISTEN!!! :)

I agree with BibbidiBobbidiBoo...you should contact the SOG office in writing, explaining the situation and including a copy of your one night hotel ressie at the CR. I think the amount of $$ involved warrants further action--it's more than just a few bucks!!

It seems they weren't very meticulous about making sure that they sold the right length of stay pass to correspond with the actual reservation. Curious to know if they usually check the info when they sell the ticket or just take someone's word for it when they walk in to purchase the Stars and Stripes tickets.

Anyway, good luck--hope you get your refund and that you can swing a trip later this year to take advantage of the military salute deal! :D

I didn't ask about adding on a day, good question though :D . If you are planning on going during Oct. or Dec. they have parties that are seperate ticket events (under $40 for adults and under $30 for children). Your ticket most likely (that is how it was last year) will get you through the gates about 4 pm and the party goes until midnight. That makes a great sleep-in or long nap day. Take a day off to shop, rent water mice ect. A day for Sea World. Now you have taken up more than an entire week :D

I have been calling and calling the SoG office, but I keep getting a busy signal. I'd really like to talk to them about this. No, the CM did not ask for my room reservation receipt, or even asked us how long we were staying. And I'm surprised that they didn't even mention the free tickets. I'm sure they would have known about the, I don't see why they wouldn't. Thanks to everyone for all your help, I'll keep everyone posted.
