I am so sick and tired of CVS and their annoying card! I know some people love it and feel it saves them a lot of money. I, on the other hand, am so tired of walking up to the register to make a quick purchase and hearing, "Do you have your CVS card?" If it takes me a minute to dig it out, the cashier will just stand there. They refuse to start ringing anything up until they scan the card. I know I can just decline to use the program, but the few times I've tried saying, "No, I don't have a card," I have to listen to a spiel about it and have an application shoved in my face. This takes even longer than just pulling out the dang card.

The other problem I have with the place is that they usually only have one cashier open. If the line gets really long, they'll finally call another one. I guess I'm just done with the place. Anyone else hate the card?

Mine is on my key ring so finding it is not a problem. Plus the times when I do not have it they can look it up by phone number.

Why don't you just have it out before you get to the register if you know you are going to use it?

I agree. I hate that! I just firmly tell them that I don't care about using my card on that purchase and they start ringing me up. Sometimes they scan some barcode that they have in a laminated case :confused3 before they ring me up. Whatever. Just get me rung up so I can get out of there!

I just say, "No can you scan your courtesy card, thanks." That usually stops and further issue.

I don't know a drug store or supermarket around that doesn't have a "card" I have them all on my key ring so it is easy to use. I like CVS over the alternatives of Rite Aide or Walgreens, I have never seen them shove an application in someone's face, they do ask and ask if you want one, but they have to because that is corporates policy.

Walmart is starting to do that... I like how they have a candy bar saying that if i dont ask about the walmart card, i can take the candy bar.

Geez, i was at a dilemma, i was happy the cashier didnt ask me about if i wanted to apply for a walmart credit card, but that snickers bar does look tasty too. lol

If I'm in a hurry and need to run into the store to pick something up quickly, it's still going to take time to pull out the card. If there's no line and I get right up to the register, they just stand there while I pull out my wallet to get the card. If I'm standing in line, sometimes my hands are too full of items to dig into my purse. Either way, it's annoying.

I hear what you are saying about how they won't start ringing up, that would frustate me too but I wonder why it is CVS's fault that you are not prepared when you arrive at the checkout?

I have the key fob thing or use my phone number. If I go into a store that has some type of shopper card and I don't have one or don't use one or mine is buried in my purse I will just ask them to swipe their courtesy card. I've never been told no

I have mine on my key ring or if I for some reason don't have my keys I get my card out before I get in line. I don't have an issue with lines at most of the CVS's I go to because the have self check out.

If the line is long, why wouldn't you take the time that you are waiting in line to get your card out?

I like that Lucky's doesn't have a card, and that's where I do my big grocery shopping. We also have a locally run market that advertising the fact that they'll never bother their customers with a card. They just put things on sale and everyone is eligible for the sale price without a card. That's good customer service.

I guess what bothers me most about CVS is that the cashier has to scan the card, or you have to say your phone number out loud. At Safeway, you can punch in your phone number or scan your card on the ATM pad. And you can do it while they ring up your purchase. They don't just stand there and wait for you to dig out your card. I think that's why the line at the register gets so long. If the customer could scan the card as part of the payment process, it would be a lot faster.

Store them on your phone. Easy.

Use your phone number. Easy

I think they're worth it.... you get coupons that are actually valuable.

Oh, the horror....the inconvenience of actually having to lift a card our of your wallet....., next thing you know, you'll have to turn a key in an ignition to start a car instead of pushing a button. Exhausting, I know.

If the card is scanned in advance the customer can see what is on sale, however if it is scanned in the middle of the transaction you can't see what is on sale although you still get what is on sale

Why all the sarcasm? The OP is annoyed by it, that is her choice she asked opinions not to be berated because it annoys her or wastes her time to pull it out. Comparing being annoyed by having to dig out a card to starting a car, well that is comparing apples to an orange grove. As for the coupons, well maybe she doens't want them, maybe she doesn't shop there enough to make it worth her while, whatever the reason she shouldn't be treated to a dose of sarcasm because it annoys her.

Ahhh, yes CVS. I have issues with them as well but not for the same reason. They have on multiple occasions given someone else's medication to one of my family members. My poor mother was getting lightheaded and could barely function....she was taking some completely different person's meds! All of her info was on it but she noticed the Dr's name was different.

My husband had a huge issue with them and they actually accused him of Dr shopping to get more than one prescription. :headache: He wasn't Dr shopping, BOTH Dr's were in the same office and sometimes he sees one, other times he sees the other. He has since taken his business elsewhere.

Our local CVS just recently had an issue where one of their employees was stealing meds and selling them. Nice!

I think the OP is frustrated with stores and their cards, that no matter how small the purchase, or what was supposed tone a quick in and out trip, has now been turned into an event.

I agree that every store, no matter the wares, having a card is very annoying. I use the Giant Eagle one and gave one to my mom so she gets the Fuel Perks. But it's so expensive there that I only buy some sale items. I also have a Rite Aid one. I got it bc they asked every time I went in. Fine. I promptly lost the card and have to use my phone number. That was when I only got 1 prescription a month... Now I have several that all need filled at different times. I'm surprised the pharmacist doesn't have my phone number memorized. :rolleyes2

I can't imagine how long it could possibly take a person to get a card out of a wallet that the cashier waiting to ring up everything makes a big difference. Your lack of preparation is not CVS' problem.

maybe get it out when you get your money or credit card out of your wallet.

my complaint with CVS is how you can only get 1 item that has extra bucks.
I am not saying I want to fill my cart, but it would be nice to be able to get 2 or 3 toothpastes when they have the promotion.

Exactly! That would be a great time to get the card out. The problem is that the cashier will delay ringing up the items until you get it out. If they would start ringing instead of waiting, it would go a lot faster. CVS is the only store that does that.

I see that some people think it's laziness on my part. The simple fact is that I find their process very annoying. That's my opinion and I'm entitled to it. I have decided to shop elsewhere, and that's my choice.
