I'm Done!!! Too Many Changes We Don't Like

With all the changes, I found that my last trip (Oct. 19-25) was my last for a long time. I will say that the Magic Band worked perfectly and I enjoyed all of my TS dinners. However, I have gone at the same time each year for at least 8 years, and this was the worse vacation I've had at Disney World. I'm getting older and I go to Disney because I enjoy it and I DON'T HAVE TO THINK! I just go and enjoy! UNTIL THIS TRIP.

Standby lines were terrible. I found the Fastpass+ very incovientient. You had to stay in an area until your FP+ time even though you wanted to do something else. Or you spend alot of time criss-crossing the park and the walking did me in. Continually having to check the time made the trip seem more like being at work - do this at that time, then do this at that time. Not what a vacation is about.

THIS LAST VACATION WAS NO LONGER FUN OR ENJOYABLE. It will be a long time before I go back, if at all. Next year I'm going to try Universal.

If the problem is people don't know where they want to eat 180 days out why not do away with ADR all together. I mean lots of people go out to eat every day all over the world but they aren't reserving it 180 days before hand. I think I know the reason why Disney does this but what does everyone else think?

There are some restaurants that act more as "attractions" that need to have ADR's such as CRT and many character meals. It would be a madhouse trying to manage the walk-ups and another long line. Maybe if they make it for just those special types of meals and have them be a pay when you book like HDDMR, it would help?

I personally don't have a problem with ADR's. We generally have a problem deciding where to eat on evenings we do go out at home. This way it is whatever was planned. And it is generally a pick that we love time and time again. :flower3:

I don't do character meals so I never mess with those high in demand meals. But I do like some popular restaurants and it is hard to make an ADR, but I'd rather be trying to make an ADR 180 days out then standing in a first come first serve line. OMG. Have you seen the lines at BOG for lunch. Talk about a waste of time. At least if I know 180 days out then I can plan for other things and maximize my time elsewhere.

If it's not enjoyable, don't go back. The end.

But cant you feel for the guest who has reached this level of disappointment and frustration...I am assuming this was a place that they use to enjoy and now with all these changes it is no longer...that is sad, that their happy place has changed that much for them.

It is kind of like going to your favorite place to have pizza, then they change the recipe, you dont like it that much, you long to have your old recipe back. Sure there are other places to eat pizza, but it is disappointing and frustrating to some that they didnt not need to change a recipe that was working!

But what if something unforseen comes up, now you will be donating to Disney or you could go and have a lousy time unless the unforseen incident doesn't allow you to.

Now I'm hungry:)

Stuff happens all the time that can cost me money. I still pay for my kids' music lessons even when they are sick. I pay for the day at the private school they are in even if we don't show up. I paid for a sitter back when I was working even if I took the day off and she wasn't watching my kids. It's not optimal and inconvenient things happen. But I value those people's time.

I don't have to make an ADR if I don't want to take a risk. I'm at the same risk with MMVCP and with my HDDMR reservations. I have decided that it is worth it to take that risk. Others might decide otherwise and take the risk that they won't get into the door by choosing to get in via walk-up or calling that day.

I always ate off property even when we stayed onsite. Rented a car so we could do other non Disney things. Would go in October and would just go eat after parks closed, since parks closed earlier. So I just never understood the ADR hysteria.

Now you've told me more than once to just not go any more too. That is a valid suggestion but really not what I'm personally looking for. I want someone to suggest how best to deal with changes that cause me worry or at least to pat me on the back and tell me that it will be all right. ;)

Seriously, I believe that like me, most people who come here in a tizzy are upset and confused about something and I always assume that they have good reason since I can't step into their world and see everything that they have to deal with. I believe that there are usually solutions or ways to handle uncomfortable situations - the big question is what are those?

Anyway, lecture over at least until the next meltdown. :)
Ah ... but I haven't flat out said, "Then don't GO anymore!" followed by a "stamping my feet" icon. ;)

I've said things like, "maybe this is a time to step away" or "you seem kind of lukewarm to start ... maybe a break is good".

But I also think I've told you that things will be all right and maybe you just need to experience the thing you're anxious about first hand instead of letting other people make you anxious because THEY'RE anxious.

I'm tryin', I tell ya! I'm tryin'! :sail:

You should consider trying Disneyland instead. There are more attractions in the two parks there than all 4 combined at WDW. Lot less walking.

Disney has been known to be pretty accommodating when something unforeseen comes up. They've refunded party tickets, refunded parts of multi-day tickets, changed reservation nights for ADRs, refunded "non-refundable" things like HDDR, and made other accommodations for folks who have had situations that changed their schedules or turned plans into swiss cheese.

My guess is that if the "something unforeseen" actually is an unexpected situation that is causing an issue (as opposed to someone just changing their mind and then refusing to call and cancel), Disney will do what they can to help reschedule or refund, just as they do now.

People make reservations every day for airline tickets, concerts, football games, hotel rooms and other experiences where the folks running those events are far less accommodating than Disney. What do you do when you've made an airline reservation and then something unforeseen comes up? In most cases, you end up eating that money (or paying a hefty change charge), but people still fly.

It's really sad how many people are getting upset about a system that's currently running on a trial basis. If you experienced it and don't like it, email Disney. If you haven't experienced it firsthand, don't get your panties in a bundle. Every new system has kinks to work out...Have faith, it's Disney!!!:cool1:

I can't speak for anyone else, but I think given the amount of money I have invested in my next 2 Disney trips, I have a reason to have my "panties in a bundle", given everything I've read. Yes, every system has it's kinks to work out, but as someone brilliantly stated on another thread, Disney should not be using people who spend thousands of dollars as guinea pigs. As for having faith in Disney, eh, those days are gone. The amount of time it takes Disney to get new attractions up and running or new systems in place doesn't leave room for a lot of "faith".

Then don't go. It's really that simple. Cancel your next 2 trips and go somewhere else...

Agree, and I'm sorry for calling you a guinea pig......

LOL - I wasn't called the guinea pig. I was quoting someone from another thread. Or maybe it was earlier in this one. Anyways, I thought that was a very good way to put it.
