I'm Done!!! Too Many Changes We Don't Like

I never suggested you shouldn't post your opinion. I disagreed with your comment about what "America was built on". America is built on a capitalist ideal. Capitalism is all about profit. Disney is a wonderfully successful example of a capitalist corporation doing what capitalist corporations do.

And I also disagreed with your romantic idea that you're somehow not "settling for less" whenever you choose to pay for what you evidently believe is a lesser product. I said that supporting Disney with your dollars is not the same as supporting a baseball team. Disney can't make it all worthwhile by simply winning a few games. They're going to take your money and use it to continue down whatever path seems most lucrative to them, whether you agree with that path or not. Your money is your vote. Every time you give them your money, you are, in a very real way, saying, "Continue doing what you do! I approve!"

Suggesting that I'm trying to prevent you from sharing your opinions is just trying to derail the argument. That's not the issue being discussed here at all.

I think you're misunderstanding my point of view. I have no desire to stop going to Disney. Nor do I have such a problem with the way things are. I'm simply saying that I agree with those that believe there are certain things that are currently unacceptable. Will it stop me from going? Nope. Will I continue to voice my opinion good or bad? You bet.

I was just like you and I miss that. But after this next visit, I think that it's time to say goodbye and move on. At least for a while.

I am withholding my opinion until after our trip next week. Still, I cannot help but feel like I am being forced to plan my vacation much earlier and with a lot more research to even get half the enjoyment we used receive from the parks. My trip last month to Universal was so relaxing and with so little planning that I am afraid that will be the vacation experience I will be comparing Disney to and not the other way around. Time will tell.

This is a discussion board. A Disney discussion board. An all things Disney discussion board. Not just a "Disney is best - Please don't post anything bad about them!" message board.

I don't expect them to listen, nor do I care. I'm doing what this message board is meant for. Sharing my opinions, both good and bad, about Disney.

Magpie is just upset because of the Blue Jays;)

I'd go further than that. I think back to Spaceship Earth....all that talk about the history of communication. Humans have spent millennia having discussions, agreeing, disagreeing, giving opinions that some agree with and that others find to be wacky. It has been and ever shall be, regardless of the subject, the name of the board, if it's in cyberspace or not, etc. Would this board be much of anything if it was just a bunch of you are right and let's share the love talk?

Having said that, I am entertained and enjoy everyone's opinions either way. I find less of an appetite for posts that flat out tell someone their opinion or feelings are wrong, but tolerate them as it has always been this way for as long as humans have discussed. So, take a lesson from the big golf ball and hang on for a ride as good as a "top tier" FP+ ride choice :wave2:

There have been numerous people complaining it is too crowded and this is suppose to be the off season. Maybe this is Disney's way of thinning the crowd out to make it a better experience for the ones still going (being sarcastic people).

As soon as F&W is over, it will die down more. My DW and a neighbor (and the kids) were at MK on Sunday and said they were getting on everything, multiple times, w/o much in the way of lines so it depends on the park/day.

Not sure when Free Dining is over....

I agree with all of this! And I also enjoy the discussions both pro-change and anti-change (though I'm much less impressed with the ones founded on nothing but fear and speculation).

Doesn't change in any way my original point, though, which is that in a capitalist system we vote with our dollars. So it's nonsense to claim that "America was built on!" an ideal of continually throwing your money at a company that you feel is giving you less with every passing month. And no, you can't compare a mega-corporation to a scrappy little sports team. Because when you give money to *them*, you're supporting the sport as a whole, not just purchasing a product you believe is substandard.

I'm not sure how pointing this out has turned into a claim that I want these boards to be nothing but pixie dust and positivity.

If only I could remember what the name of that kind of invalid argument is... we covered it in philosophy, but it's been years. :upsidedow Anyway, I'll take the win for whatever it's worth.

Straw man argument/informal fallacy. Generally regarded as a rather flimsy, desperate and transparent tactic.

Rampant on any thread complaining about FP+ over the past week or two.

I think it's safe to assume that this is already understood. It's like writing "If you don't like the title of the thread, don't read it."

It is kinda like that but not really. The difference is this is a Disney Fan Forum so it is a bit odd for so many 'fans' to threaten to not go to Disney on a Fan Forum day in and day out.

Just don't go and don't hang out a Fan Forums threatening not to go....just don't go.

This is a Disney Forum, you don't have to be one of the mindless whatever Disney does I will give them all my money drones to post.

True but it is very weird at the least for people that have no intentions of going somewhere to hang out at a place where everyone else is that does go there and discuss how they will refuse to go anymore.

Why not just create a new domain and hang out at disneysucks.com instead?

Between FP+, not being able to get FP- for at decent times unless there before RD, the changes to GAC/DAS, and the new upcoming ADR CC policy, I really think no more visits to WDW. No longer a vacation. Anybody else feel the same?

I am not DONE, I still had a good time, but I have to say I left with a bitter taste in my mouth. I felt like the rides had suddenly become exclusively reserved for those staying onsite with a Magic Band.
I felt a bit like an un-welcome guest.
I did not get to ride most of my favorite rides.

Still I am hoping that they work on this.

For the same reason people hang out after their trip is done and they have none planned. For conversation. What's so hard about that?

It's kind of odd, but not really. It's no more "odd" than fans of a sports team complaining about a new coach or the team's performance. Being a "fan" doesn't have the requirements you're suggesting.

Some of us come here for information and want to hear all the opinions. Just don't hang out on threads you don't like - they have titles for a reason.

Or, if it really bugs you, ask the owners of the site to change the Terms of Service to be more to your liking. Perhaps they're unaware of what's bothering you and would be interested in making changes.

Why not create a new domain where the Terms of Service indicate one should not post complaints?

Most people complaining they will not return to Disney are long time visitors, not "people who have no intentions of going there." As such, their opinions are valid and helpful to people like me.
