I'm Done!!! Too Many Changes We Don't Like

My family has been trying for YEARS to get me to vaca somewhere else!!! I say no way!! I love Disney!!:worship:

but do we really? I mean, come on, it's Disney. we're trapped.

Disney has been known to be pretty accommodating when something unforeseen comes up. They've refunded party tickets, refunded parts of multi-day tickets, changed reservation nights for ADRs, refunded "non-refundable" things like HDDR, and made other accommodations for folks who have had situations that changed their schedules or turned plans into swiss cheese.

My guess is that if the "something unforeseen" actually is an unexpected situation that is causing an issue (as opposed to someone just changing their mind and then refusing to call and cancel), Disney will do what they can to help reschedule or refund, just as they do now.

People make reservations every day for airline tickets, concerts, football games, hotel rooms and other experiences where the folks running those events are far less accommodating than Disney. What do you do when you've made an airline reservation and then something unforeseen comes up? In most cases, you end up eating that money (or paying a hefty change charge), but people still fly.

:earsboy:

Good to know, I just don't recall ever hearing someone say Disney would do this. I thought I remember seeing someone post who had an issue about trying to change a MNSSHP party ticket because something came up and they were told they couldn't. I don't remember the thread but if I get a chance I will try and find it.

You have a choice, that's all I'm saying.

I agree, everyone has a choice to go or not. But it's still ok to be annoyed with changes. It may not be enough to make you cancel an upcoming trip, but I don't understand why it has to be all or nothing, either love love love everything about it, or cancel.

I'm just thankful that America was not built on your belief system.

Wasn't it? Isn't "cancel your trip and spend your money elsewhere" the very definition of consumer behaviour in a capitalist system?

"Give me what I want and kindly don't make too much of a profit off me" would be some other kind of economic system, and not the American way at all. :thumbsup2

Then don't go. It's really that simple. Cancel your next 2 trips and go somewhere else...

Sometimes its not that cut and dry. You have to get all your ducks in a row as far as accommodations, airline tickets if you need them, rental car if you are getting one, all(except rental car) can be difficult to cancel without incurring another fee. What if you have little ones who are looking forward to the trip and don't understand all the stuff that is going on. You can't disappoint them.

I don't understand why everyone gets so defensive about people having some anxiety about all of this. Its not a personal attack on you unless your last name is Disney.

This is what I don't get. Even if your last name is Disney it's not a personal attack.

I don't think so. I think what makes America great is we don't just settle for less or quit. We expect the best.

Look at the Boston Red Sox. They finished dead last last year and won the World Series this year. Fans could have said "To heck with this crap. Let's root for the Yankees." But the fans are passionate, just as we are about Disney. We don't give up. We just don't sit by when things are crappy and smile and say "It's OK guys - Get 'em next year!"

Just wanted to say that we recently returned from our first trip and we LOVED FP+. Loved it! We had an amazing trip and everything went smoothly. I learned so much from this board. We booked our FP+ 60 days out and arranged up until the moment we stepped into queue lines. We figured out what works for our family (booking FPs between 10 and 2) and we went with it. I think the new system is great and we (as first timers) were surprised by how many people at the parks had obviously done no research or planning. Families using FPs for rides with 5 minute waits for example. We just didn't get it. Anyway....we can't wait to precook our attractions, meals, rooms and whatever else for our next WDW vacation!!!

Disney is not a baseball team. They're an entertainment mega-corporation, whose primary focus is separating you from your money.

Your voting power is in your dollar. If you want to continue giving it to Disney, while complaining as loudly as you can and hoping they'll listen, that's fine. But it's not the same as rooting for an underdog team.

:lmao: This made me giggle madly. As a pre-planning junkie, I'm totally with you. I'm having a hard time this month, because I've booked and planned and spread-sheeted, and now there's "literally" nothing left to do but wait.

I'm glad to hear you had a great trip! :thumbsup2

This is a discussion board. A Disney discussion board. An all things Disney discussion board. Not just a "Disney is best - Please don't post anything bad about them!" message board.

I don't expect them to listen, nor do I care. I'm doing what this message board is meant for. Sharing my opinions, both good and bad, about Disney.

Ah ... but I haven't flat out said, "Then don't GO anymore!" followed by a "stamping my feet" icon. ;)

I've said things like, "maybe this is a time to step away" or "you seem kind of lukewarm to start ... maybe a break is good".

But I also think I've told you that things will be all right and maybe you just need to experience the thing you're anxious about first hand instead of letting other people make you anxious because THEY'RE anxious.

I'm tryin', I tell ya! I'm tryin'! :sail:

:earsboy:
Nope, no stamping feet. I'll admit that. :rotfl2:

My problem is that I don't want to quit going but I also don't want everything so planned out. It just doesn't fit my personality. WDW and I might just have separate but so in a nice way of course. :)

I was just like you and I miss that. But after this next visit, I think that it's time to say goodbye and move on. At least for a while.

I never suggested you shouldn't post your opinion. I disagreed with your comment about what "America was built on". America is built on a capitalist ideal. Capitalism is all about profit. Disney is a wonderfully successful example of a capitalist corporation doing what capitalist corporations do.

And I also disagreed with your romantic idea that you're somehow not "settling for less" whenever you choose to pay for what you evidently believe is a lesser product. I said that supporting Disney with your dollars is not the same as supporting a baseball team. Disney can't make it all worthwhile by simply winning a few games. They're going to take your money and use it to continue down whatever path seems most lucrative to them, whether you agree with that path or not. Your money is your vote. Every time you give them your money, you are, in a very real way, saying, "Continue doing what you do! I approve!"

Suggesting that I'm trying to prevent you from sharing your opinions is just trying to derail the argument. That's not the issue being discussed here at all.
