I dropped off my son to daycare this morning and found out that this first little girlfriend's last day at the school! They've been together since they were both 3 months old (they are both two now). Everything is this girl's name - her name was his first word (yes, before dada), everytime I ask what he did at school that day, it's this girl's name (I know - sounded funny to me too!
), he talks about her all the time - hugs her everytime they are together; and she talks about him just as much (her mother said my son's name was one of her first words too!)
I really got teary eyed at the thought. They live about fifty minutes from us (this school is close to both of our works), also with very busy jobs, so I don't know if "playdates" would work out.
I can't believe how sad I am about this - and he doesn't even know that he's going to miss her terribly - it just tears my heart.
How can this be happening already at only 2 years old?

My DD has been through the same thing a few times in her 9 years, and it stinks! I will say that kids are pretty adaptable, and it probably won't be long before he has a new best friend. I know it hurts my heart every time DD is disappointed/devastated/upset about something, but I guess it comes with the job of loving mamma.
