donate it to Locks of Love.

Well it's not all of it but 10 inches.

I got the idea from a Diser who did it earlier this year. I let mine grow out for the wedding and now I want a simpler haircut.

Wish me luck and I hope I don't cry. My appointment is at 4. I'll try and get before and after shots.

That is so nice of you. :)

What a wonderful thing to do! I just wish I had enough hair to do that, but I suffer from female pattern baldness. :o

Very generous and thoughtful of you, SAM:D . Not to worry, your hair is only ONE of your many beautiful features;) ;) ;) ;) .....

EROS, that girl can't be your type. I see a tan line.;)

Good luck, Samantha.:) My dd donate 11 inches this past February. She's growing her hair out again to donate it again.:) It made her feel so good to help someone.:)

I can't wait to see the before/after pics.:)

Good for you!

This past Saturday when I was getting my hair cut, there was a beautiful 5 year old girl that had never had her hair cut. She donated 10 inches to Locks for Love and she still had her hair well below the shoulders.

The news station came in and covered it for the 6 o'clock news.

It will be ok :)

Very thoughtful. My dd donated hers 2 yrs ago when she was 8. At first she was a little nervous but the idea of helping someone else made her feel special.:D

That is a very good thing to do. If I ever cut my hair, I plan to do the same. My boyfriend actually wants me to cut my hair SHORT, but I have told him that I would feel half naked if I ever do so. How do you find a salon that donates hair? I have considered cutting my hair before (but not short, I think it is 36 inches long now), but I can never figure out where to go to have it donated.

Well, SSB has no hair, so can't participate....

However, DD gave 10" or so of hers when about 5 years old.... her first real haircut. I had always planned on keeping it, but this was too good a use, so could not refuse.

Kept one long braided strand, which I shall always treasure...

:) :) :)

Good luck!

Good for you! I did that earlier this year and am really enjoying the shorter hair. I think I may do it again. It's fun to grow it out, then go for a change while having a worthwhile cause to donate the hair to. :)

Daisy -- I just went to one of those salons that has multiple levels of cutters (it was in the mall) and asked. Best thing is to ask around. :) I think the website might list a few local places, too, but I'm not sure.

SSB, I've got two naturally blonde pigtails (or braids as their called now ;) ) that are about 6 inches long from when my Mom cut my hair when I was 5 years old! They still have the little barrettes in them too!

Sam, that is a wonderful act of generosity! If you get a chance, take a before and after photo!

Oh Sam! That is such a wonderful thing for you to do, but it doesn't surprise me that someone as nice as you would do it. Can't wait to see a pic of you afterwards.

Good for you! I too did this earlier this year and LOVE it! (and I didn't cry!)

Wonderful!

My friend's adopted daughter just volunteered her hair for this worthy cause. All of 9 years old and she wanted to do this!

God bless you!

So you know how much your gift of hair means.....I know a 7 year old girl who is on her sixth round of chemo leading up to a bone marrow transplant. Loosing her hair was traumatic. Not too long ago she received a wig. To hear her mother describe the joy this little girl showed after having been through so much brought tears to my eyes. You have made people very, very happy with your gift.

Well I'm off to cut it in an hour. As Eros said I have lots of other things going for me and with a body like mine...Noone looks at my hair LOL;)

Thanks for the words of encouragement

Here goes:eek:

How wonderful of you to do this!!
And I hope that your new hairdo will be just as wonderful!!:)
