I must be missing some key bit of info, but this whole note thing isnt making sense to me. Can someone clear this up? From what I keep hearing the sniper left a note at the Ponderosa restaurant. The authorities are trying to reach the sniper(obviously) and made a statement asking him/them to call the authorities at the numer he(the sniper) provided. Wouldnt it make more sense for the authorites to be calling the sniper at the number he provided? Why would they want him to call the number HE left.
So, what am I missing?

as I understand it, the note was quite lengthy.

if I understand correctly, the note included a police telephone line -- a number the police set up for receiving reports about the sniper. the sniper may have mentioned the police phone number in his letter.

Check with Blondie, she must have an inside person because she knows it all about this guy.

They said that it would only make sense to the person who left the note and that that's the only person that it needed to make sense to.

Uh, huh! I guess that makes sense. As long as they catch the psycho, thats all that matters.

 I appreciate and look forward to reading Blondie's insite as well as everyone else who is in the area. I cannot imagine the stress they must all be under right now. Sending {{HUGS}} to all in the area of the attacks!

Considering that she lives pretty much right int he middle of it, she probably listens to all of the newscasts that they get on the local channels as well as new s in the hospital.

I think Blondie has been doing a great job on keeping us informed.
:)

CamColt, I know it seems strange...I don't understand it any better than you (since I'm not the one who left the note.) I guess the police know what they're doing though (I certainly hope so.)

I'm supposing the sniper is smart enough not to give them the number to call him, because they could find out who or where he is.

I read one possible explaination is that it could be a third party voice mail number.

The sniper leaves the #.

The police call the # and leave a voice mail.

The police broadcast the message that they want the sniper to call the number that the sniper provided. This is their way of telling the sniper they've responded to the note by leaving a voice mail and the sniper should now retrieve the voice mail.

The whole thing is very strange! I hope they catch this person(s) soon!

I thought the same as you Camcolt!!! Just had a discussion with one of my friends about it. We are both confused about "the #" to call etc....

BSnyder, I never even thought of that possibility but it's a very plausible explanation.

I've been really confused about the number thing too. Now I realize that it isn't just me being dense, that the police are being vague in their statements. i hope they catch this guy soon.

Thanks for the kind words NewYorkNewYork....oops! I mean Ratsrule! :D :p

Oh, and as far as having a person on the inside....you have no idea!:D :D :D

The voice mail thing makes sense...never thought about that possibility. Schools are closed here again tomorrow...supposedly on the advice of the FBI. We know there were specific threats in that note. Were schools in the area involved in that threat? You have to think so. Blondie? Any thoughts? Thanks for the prayers...we need them.

I have read so many accounts that they are blurring together. One account seem to suggest that the number left by the sniper was a public or pay phone number at a gas station. Evidently, there is a gas station that has a public phone that is surrounded by police vehicles waiting for this bozo to call.

I imagine that it would not be too difficult to locate the phone system at which a voice mail box was set up and to trace the calls going to that number.

LOL, Blondie! You're pretty good!:p

I hope you all stay safe. I know the stress of all this must be unbelievable.
