I'm confused - Can anyone help

I'm ready to book my 7 day Value Resort vacation for July, but have come up with some confusing information.
When checking on line if I want to book room only (preferred) for 7 nights my total would be $878.08. A 5 day park hopper ticket for 2 adults and 1 child is $626.00. Total of this would be $1504.08.
If I check Room and tickets together on WDW site the total for the same comes to $1546.12. Difference being $42. and the difference is in the ticket cost. Has anyone else experienced this and would I be better to book room only with WDW and then buy tickets through Mousesavers or Ticket Mania etc. What do you suggest. I really want to book today so I can get on with enjoying the anticipation of the trip.

I used a TA for my first trip to WDW....just didn't know any better. She booked a package for me. I figured that was the best way to go...all-inclusive. But, after finding these, and other, boards, I book everything myself. I do room only and then add what type of park pass I may need. I have found it is much cheaper that way and every dollar in my pocket means more to spend on other stuff when I get to WDW. Especially with the MYW passes now...you can get exactly what you need for your trip. And those longer trips are less costly than they were before.

If I'm not mistaken I've read on here that may be a trip insurance fee. I believe you can opt out of that at the check out though.

When you price out things separately, you are shown the price of the tickets. when you total up a package like that it adds in the tax.

626*.0675 = 42.25
