I'm conflicted. - Update Page 5 - I've got a dog!

Oooooh, Bandit!!! I'm so happy for you!!! What a beauty!! I want to see pics, lots and lots of pics!

:woohoo: Peg, AWESOME news!! :woohoo:

When will Kendall be able to meet Bandit?? :dog:

Thanks, everyone. I'm very excited to have him here. Kendall will be coming home a week from Saturday for the weekend. I'm sure they will hit it off right away!

In May of 2006, I lost two dogs within a week. Radar (the Corgi in my sig) had lymphoma and Griffin (the silver German Shepherd) to osteoarthritis. They were 10 and 12 1/2 years old, respectively.

A good friend of mine who breeds show Golden Retrievers heard about it and called me. I had been toying with the idea of getting another Golden in the next year or so (my first Golden, Jordann had died in 2002), but it depended on how the old boys were doing. She told me that her female was pregnant and that she wanted me to come to her house and 'help' deliver the puppies. ;) Sooooo, long story short, I was there when Walter was born.

He was exactly what I needed.

Good luck with your new baby.

BANDIT!! :wizard: Peg, it was fate that brought the two of you together - you listened to your voice - it was meant to be :goodvibes

I hope you will be willing to share further adventures of Bandit!!

Oh! Walter is adorable! I know that Bandit and I will be great together. He is going to need some training. His first family gave him up because they could not afford to keep him. I think she told me they lost their house. They gave him to a friend who became very ill and is currently in hospice care. So, in just a little over a year, Bandit has had two homes in addition to the shelter. I intend for this to be his permanent home! We will work on manners and such together and have a great time doing it!

Goldens are wonderful dogs, so I'm sure you will be fine. There is a special bond that rescue dogs seem to form with their 'forever' homes. My white Shepherd is a rescue (I don't even know how old she is) and she is so very strongly bonded with me. Walter is as well, but he's a bit of a knuckle-head (they breed show Goldens to be a bit 'extroverted') and has more of an independent streak. I don't know how exactly to describe it, but the rescue dogs just seem so appreciative of their families. It may take a bit longer to bond with him than with a new puppy, but I think it will definitely be worth it in the long run.
