We were going to eat there mainly for pony races for the girls . :furious:

The manager did tell me that they still do have pony races....but I guess friday night from 5pm to 7pm they just didn't....

We were just there a couple of weeks ago and dined at WCC twice. Yes, Bobby was gone and we were actually just wondering of he was on vacation. He was great.

Although it was somewhat toned down a bit, they still had pony races and we still waved our napkins over our heads. And several times they brought bottles and bottles of ketchup to those who requested ketchup. And they did bring out a HUGE mason jar of soda to someone who ordered soda. And there was a lot of bantering. I agree, it was somewhat toned down (I thought it was just me) but it still was fun.

Actually this is supposed to be Bobby's last weekend. The manager did tell me he is trying to talk him into staying. After talking to Delswife last night also, she talked to Bobby and she said that he said it was a done deal. I'm just so disappointed. WCC was our favorite family show ever...and to us it was a show.

My family and I ate there last week. I read the amazing reviews and man was I disappointed. The restaurant was completely full and all the focus was on one table. Some lady kept getting these super size ice teas and the rest of us just watched. There was a birthday song sung throughout the restaurant but all in all PRIME TIME beats WCC hands down if you are looking for participation type services. Food was OK but I ordered the skillet with "All you can eat" and had to wait for long period of times for :sad2: any type of service (refills on beverage and food) NO MORE WCC for me. I go to DISNEY every year. You form an opinion based on first visit and I have formed mine to not return. :sad2:

I hope it's still a fun experience for those first-timers who don't have a point of reference. Still, for me, this is sad news... I always tended to be a WCC apologist/good will ambassador.

A bit OT, perhaps, but we collectively sound like nursing home residents, pining for the "old days." I'm guessing that whatever changes were made in WCC weren't made in a vacuum ... they had to be in response to "something" (guest complaints? budget cuts? Bob Iger having a bad experience?)

Just an observation. But change does come *sigh*.

You know, when we went to WCC we did not have a good time. I thought my family would enjoy the fun atmosphere but they didn't. They couldn't wait to get out of there.

However, our solution was just to NOT go back. Not to change the whole experience at the restaurant!! It is sad that they decided to tone things down. Especially for those who really enjoyed it.

Too bad! Since 'Ohana's menu changes we won't return to that old favorite, so we've been trying to find another "fun" place. We had a dismal experience in 2002 (similar to Navy Disney Fan's), but DS wants to give WCC another try in August. If it's as dull as it was in 2002, I guess we'll just keep on looking...

I went in 2004 and had a ball. My server tried to embarrass me but he ended up making a friend of mine blush more.

Went back last year in October and was anxious to let my hubby and other family members expirence the fun I had. It wasn't near the same, I couldn't put my finger on it but it must be the subtle changes they were already implimenting.

Very disappointing.

Kimball, I'm so sorry that this is occurring. We, too, loved Bobby, and on your recommendation and great trip reports we requested him for our son's 8th birthday dinner in February. He absolutely made our trip. It was hands down one of the best meals we had ever had at WDW. But in April we had a server in training and heard that Bobby had been asked to tone down his routine. We were shocked. I mean, really, WCC is a theme restaurant and if that's not what you want, then there are an ample number of other restaurants where this doesn't occur.

I am so terribly disappointed that Bobby has resigned his position at WCC. He is a great server and really was one of the reasons we loved the restaurant. If they have really changed the whole theme, we will not be returning.

I'm hoping that Bobby has chosen not to leave WDW entirely and will be taking a position at another restaurant at the parks. If not, WDW is losing a star employee. Having worked in food service, it's often a thankless job, and very hard. It's rare to find a server who makes every meal enjoyable for patrons.

If you speak with him, please tell him that we're so sorry to see him go and wish him well. And if you get an update on his plans, please let us know.

I did some investigating after reading this thread...and this info is probably third hand at this point, and I am merely passing along what she said...but I thought I'd pass it along...A friend of mine is a CM at WDW...a character actually...the short ones...anyhow, HER roommate works as a waitress at Artist Point and the story she got was that there have been a number of issues leading to the changes at WCC. One is that there have been numerous complaints from guests...people walking out mid meal etc, b/c servers would not leave them alone. We've all heard the storys about kids being reduced to tears etc. A quote was something like "I do NOT bring my family here to be humiliated!!!" (that was a guest to a manager or something like that) Also, it seems that the noisy atmosphere from WCC was making the lobby VERY loud and some guests felt it was disruptive. The source to this info said that there were times that WCC could be heard inside Artist Point, which does not lend itself to the "dressy" atmosphere. Anyhow, the servers who were once told to be as wild and crazy as possible, no limits...were given limits and now a lot of them are very unhappy about the changes and are leaving or switching jobs within WDW.

Maybe Disney felt that the number of upset guests was outnumbering the diehard bunch that love WCC. :confused3

anyhow...that's my inside info...as I am merely the messenger please do not seek to harm! ;)

I agree totally that your friend is right on....every time they toned things down it was due to complaints....I know we have complimented the staff on many occations about there great antics.....The older WCC staff has had to make a lot of changes and I think it will begin to show as the changes become more and more apparant. New waiter will not be trained to be outrageous and they simply won't know any better...Over time things will calm down tremendously.

That is too bad. We weren't huge fans of the food here (it is just ok), but always enjoyed the antics. Without that, we will skip it! We were also hugely disappointed when they cancelled the Villain dinner due to complaints. The worst part is people who have a pleasant experience rarely tell about it, but WDW always hears from the complainers. If you don't like antics, don't go to WCC or 50's PT. It your kids are scared of Villains...skip the dinner...etc.

I will say that we had friends stay at the WL resort last year who said they could hear the loud noise from this restaurant quite a bit, and that it got old. Maybe some of the resort guests were complaining. :confused3

I am soooo disappointed! We were going to request Bobby for Sept. I do hope they manage to convince him to stay.... What if everyone with PS were to call and make sure they have requested a spot in Bobby's section. Would that not show how valuable he is to us? That it is the service and the talent that keeps us coming back?

I have a funny story about "Bobby the kid."

Last July on my DM birthday we dined there and he was our waiter. We were having great fun until he litterally dropped a tray full of salads on the floor which ended up landing on my mother's head, shirt, pants, ect. The dressing of course could not be removed and her clothing was ruined.

The waiters did a great show of cleaning up the mess and sliding through the dressing leftovers that must have been very slick. After a few minutes Bobby returned with a Grump shirt for my DM as he was sure she was very Grumpy with him. He kept it up through our entire meal from across the room about "mam don't be mad" ect ect it was very funny - my DM was mortified but looking back it was great fun.

Now for the only downer....

Can you believe we paid for the meal??? My DM had the skillet and you would have thought they would have at least offered to comp her meal. We didn't ask and it wasn't offered.

We returned to the WCC this year on Mother's Day and my DM took an inside seat away from the isle to avoid tempting fate. The waiters seemed very into it at that time. They did lots of special stuff just about Mother's Day and tons of extra antics.

We love the WCC and the WL. However, I will admit if the shouting is lowered it will make the rooms above the WCC much quieter which will be a blessing for those in those rooms.

Of course it would be due to guest complaints and I have seen them humilate kids to the point of tears, so yes some of it was getting a little intense and I sure many have complained.

Think of it this way, the majority of people on here on that really like the WCC probably don't even stay there.

But many guests, probably not DISers, and Yes there are other people out there ;), that stay there don't want to be exposed to this on a daily basis. Not everyone that goes to Disney eats most of their meals away from their resort. I mean when you think about it WL has Roaring Forks, Artist's Pointe (very expensive) and WCC. Many guests want to eat their meals at their resort.

If this restaurant was at a park, I would say if you don't like it avoid it, but I am not sure that is fair to the guests actually staying at the WL.

We have had many fun meals at WCC and enjoyed the antics as much as anyone, but when a guest has a child reduced to sobs due to this, I do think some changes are in order.

I really wish they had a seperate dining area for those wishing to enjoy the food without the interaction.

the guy in the pic with teh tigger hat was a riot
we were there in sept 2004 he did an awesome joke about the red roof inn
he was a riot
it wasnt much fun last year
we are skipping it in august

Oh, snap!

We have an ADR at WCC for the last night of our vacation. I wanted something really fun for our last evening at WDW. It was either WCC or 'Ohana, and, since we had eaten at 'Ohana last May, I decided we should try WCC.

Since we've never been to WCC, will we, as first-timers, still think it's a fun restaurant? Is it a good "last evening" kind of restaurant? Or, should I try to get an ADR at 'Ohana, which, at this late date, is probably near impossible...)?

One of the reasons I didn't choose 'Ohana in the 1st place was due to the changes in the menu - I really loved the pineapple for dessert...

Now what? :confused3

We went in 2004 for the irst time. My DDs saw it on the Travel channel and were really pumped. Needless to say our server was dry as toast and it was a big disappoinment. We won't return.

This make me upset. I was looking forward to WCC in October and now I don't know if we should still go. I was going for the antics, not the food, well maybe the bottomless milkshake. My 8 yo would love the fooling especially the ketchup. My 3 yo would adore the pony races and all the yelling and stuff. I was goging to request Bobby as our server and not tell my family what to expect. Maybe by then they will have decided to kep it the way it was.

Maybe it is time for people to write to disney to let them know that the changes are not for the better, it worked with Garden Grill last year, (well, it might have, there was a lot of dissaitfaction and it changed, how much was due tothe direct complaints we do not know)

What happens is guest who do not like something, complain. And if the majority of those complaints are coming from guests actually staying at the WL instead of just one timers to the restuarant they listen.

Not many guests write and state they like something, even if they have a favorite server.
