The water ones ...I took a few to try and get the water less blurry...not sure how to fix that...would that be a quicker shutter speed?

And also what I think is okish might have obvious improvements (to you guys) to make for next time.

You can't fix it now but next time for next time, if you want to freeze tha action then it would be a quicker shutter speed.

Thank you! I thought it might be that but i'm new to this game and I feel abit embarrased posting pictures and asking questions.

thanks again x

Don't be embarassed. There are a lot of great people on here with great advice. You will learn a lot from them.

Do NOT be embarrassed - you have NOTHING to be embarrassed about. I really think you did a great job. I have enjoyed looking at your photos. No one here is perfect. We are all at different levels - trying to learn and improve as well as help out where ever we can.

Post away - I personally love seeing others photos - gives me ideas and helps me see things differently sometimes.

your pics are great,

one thing you might want to try,

for pics of single people, try shooting vertical

I often will shoot a horizontal shot, then switch to vertical and shoot the same thing to see which I like better

thank you,

You know what its like when you come on here and everyones photos are brill then I had to find the courage to post!!:rotfl: Silly really when someone already pointed out we are all at different levels. But at the end of the day it can only get better and if people on here are willing to help me out, all the better!:thumbsup2 Will defo try the tip on shooting single people different ways!

cheers xx

Good afternoon! A fellow Scot I see too!

TO be quite honest, you don't want to freeze a waterfall. Always looks so much better with some motion blur!

Just out of interst what equipment do you use?

Andy

Hello there!

Thanks for the blur comment makes it look like I meant it to turn out that way then!!haha!!

I bought the fuji S5700.....pretty basic as far as cameras go on these boards but I think its a good start for me!...in saying that there is still loads to learn from it!...I'm STILL at the beginners stage (and a half!!:scared1: )

When I was taking pictures at the Lion King show there was a guy in front of me with a massive zoom...looked really impressive...thats more like it!!!:rotfl: Would loved to have seen his photos! Went back to the show again the following day and the same bloke was there again in front of me...wasn't sure who was more obsessed...me or him!!!;)

Katrina!!!
Great to see your back and that you posted some of your pix!!! Hope you guys had a great time!!! As far as criticism goes, I think I would have went with a longer shutter speed on the waterfall, gives it a more "in motion" kind of feel. You kinda got that with the close up, but I would have tried a little longer speed and seen how that turned out. I havent tried any portraits yet, so I cannot comment there, but I think that they look good. Did you get any of the castle? If so, how did they turn out?

Good job on the pix and having the courage to post them!!

Cheers!

Matt

Hi ya!!

Cheers for the tips!! Good stuff! Yes I did get some of the castle, I even tried the crouching (didn't lie down though!haha!) at the foot of the castle but it was raining most of the time so all the photos came out weird and dark/grey depressing type of thing!:rotfl: In saying that it was probably my photography that had 99% to do with that and not the weather!! So as you can guess I'm gonna give that a miss for posting!!...

In the Lion King show we were told not to use flash but some people were...would that have made a difference?

As big and open as the Lion King set is, probably not. You should be able to compensate for it, but it would take you a few tries, as you would not want the motion blur that a longer shutter length would give you. Remember, you see people taking pictures of the castle from the hub and they still use their flash there as well.

Your pics are fine! I like them. One constructive critisism I would give it that you seem to center everything. With the exception of the boat and small waterfall pic, every other one is smack dab in the middle of the pic. You should try zooming out a bit and moving your subjects slightly off center. If you haven't already, check out Mark's Rule of Thirds thread here for some good ideas:

ok finished reading it and it makes total sense now, got a lot of practising to do! The photos on there are great, fab ideas!

Cheers again
