I'm back! Family trip with DDE, Aug 13-20! Pics included, of course! updated 11/2

I noticed you said that the menu for Italy had changed. Could you post the picture you took of the menu? There was one thing I really wanted to order, and I want to make sure it is still there. Thanks!

Chef Mickey's, dinner, 8.13.08

Our ADR was for 7:35, but I really wanted to catch Spectro this night, so we got there a bit early, checked in at 7pm, and were seated right away.

We were there on the same day at 8:05pm.

Loving your reviews and pix.....I do have a question, tho....where is the Tune In Lounge??? Sounds like a spot I should visit then again, you have such a way with words (and a camera).....everything looks wonderful;)

Thanks!

Tune In Lounge is the bar attached to the 50's Prime Time Cafe, in MGM. it's very close to the Indy show. definitely check it out

Now that's an idea! :thumbsup2 :drinking:

that italian margartia was too much for me. too much of a lemon tatse

i can see how you say its too much of a lemon taste, but i think that's actually what i love about it!

Oh my gosh! I really thought I subscribed a few days ago and posted. I'm so far behind. I am a salad girl too. I will have to check out your May report ~ very curious about the citrus dressing. Sounds tasty to me. Awesome report, so far! Can't wait to read more.

ah don't worry! i'm kinda slow in updating, so you haven't missed too much! thanks for signing on!

I'm not sure if there's any way to say this without royally creeping you out, but your brother Chris is HOT! :lovestruc

Oh, and I'm loving the reviews, too. ;) :lmao:

haha, yeah, that's ok. not creeping me out, i'm aware of the good looks bestowed upon my little brothers! i'll be sure to pass on the compliments :worship:

By all means, keep the adult beverage recommendations coming! ;)

Awesome review of Tutto! I had booked Il Mulino for our last dinner in Oct and DH and I were looking at your Tutto pictures, he looks to me and says "We are eating there again right?" Flashforward to 2 minutes ago and I just dumped Il Mulino and added Tutto!

Great reviews! I am glad to see that you enjoyed the tea at GF and Tutto Italia, I am trying both of them for the first time in December.

Tusker House, breakfast, 8.16.08

So this morning, we did the AM EMH, as we did most mornings, but today was at Animal Kingdom. I made an ADR at Tusker House for a 10:30am breakfast. Stephen decided to sleep in and just meet us at breakfast, so he showed up with perfect timing, at 10:25, while we were waiting to be seated. Here's the pic they took of us with my camera
pic497.jpg

Since it was a buffet, I went the just take pics of my plate route again. Kept everybody happy that way. So on my first plate, I got lots of fruit, some sweet potato thingy, and regular potato wedges and a bit of scrambled eggs.
pic501.jpg

The fruit was awesome! So sweet and fresh. The sweet potato thingy had coconut in it, and I really don't like coconut, so I tried to eat around it, since I really love sweet potatoes. At this point, there was no ketchup on our table, so I had to ask for some from our server. He brought me a nice big bunch of it. Yum, I LOVE KETCHUP!
pic507.jpg

Next up, I got some yogurt with granola
pic506.jpg

Here's my mom with her Bday cupcake, and a plate of her food...not really sure what she has on there, but it's some other food for you to look at!
pic510.jpg

Here's a bowl with some bread pudding with vanilla sauce, and a Mickey waffle. Good stuff.
pic511.jpg

And I think this was Pap? I put cinnamon on it
pic515.jpg

And last but not least, a plate with some sort of orange bread, fritatta type thingy, piece of ham, and more potato wedges. Oh, and you can see my refill of ketchup in the background!
pic514.jpg

Overall, I really liked this breakfast. I know Stephen got really excited when he saw that there were Krispy Kreme donuts, but he said they were kinda stale. So that was a bummer. But everything else was wonderful and fresh. And the character interaction was great. But more on that in the regular trippie, this one's for the food! It's a typical buffet with a little bit of African flavor to set it apart. Thumbs up from us!

next up: dinner at San Angel Inn

Tutto Italia looks wonderful, I can't wait to eat there.

Thanks for the updates! I can't wait to try tutto italia and tusker house. I have ADR's for December. Patiently awaiting for San angel inn!

I am SO getting that Cannelloni dish when we go in December, now I can't WAIT that looks awesome! :worship: Great reviews, looking forward to more!

Tutto Italia looks wonderful, I can't wait to eat there.

yeah, she really loved it! :thumbsup2 and thanks :)

That breakfast sounds great :thumbsup2

yup, good stuff! yummy!

San Angel Inn, dinner, 8.16.08

So I was kinda worried about this dinner. Not like, a lot worried, but just a little. Since it gets such mixed reviews here on the DIS. But I figured we'd give it a shot ourselves. Especially since the people who liked it seemed to like the same kind of Mexican that we did. And I'm very glad we did! We checked in a little before our ADR time of 6:30, and we had to wait about 20 minutes for our table. I think this was the longest we waited for any of our ADR's, but this was also the one closest to "prime" dining times. So I snapped a pic of the entrance while we waited
pic560.jpg

They first brought us out the chips and salsa. It was fine, plain old chips, and spicy salsa. My brothers polished off at least this much plus a refill. Suffice to say, they did fine by us.
pic561.jpg

My mom ordered herself a Mango Margarita, because when in Mexico...
pic562.jpg

I would have ordered one, but my favorite is the Green Apple, and they only have it outside at the stand, so I waited. The boys ordered Pink Lemonades, and added their own (smuggled in...once again!) vodka. Bad boys! Sorry, no pics of those.

Hmm, I'm trying to remember what everyone ordered, but the menu on AllEars is not the same one we had.

Okay, so for an appetizer, my brothers shared I think it was Duck Soft Tacos. Yeah, that sounds about right. They both enjoyed these. They said the Duck was really nice
pic563.jpg

Big surprise here, I ordered the salad. And gave some to my mom. It was good! It had avocado on it, yum!
pic564.jpg

For our main meals, I ordered the Fish Dish. It's not on the internet menu. It was a white fish over rice, covered in a Mexican/tomato type sauce with onions and peppers. It was very good. I love fish, so this was perfect for me
pic565.jpg

My mom ordered the Chicken, which had a creamy spicy sauce on it. I think it had cheese of some sort too. She liked it, but was a bit overpowered by the spiciness of it. And she said the chicken was a little dry. But what can you expect with chicken breast? Overall, she gave it thumbs up though
pic566.jpg

Stephen ordered the Plato Mexicano - Beef Tenderloin Tampiquena, chicken enchilada, and beef flauta, served with sour cream, black refried beans and Mexican rice. But he got it without the sour cream and beans. Hmm, and I don't see any rice in the pic, so maybe it doesn't come with that anymore. He ate it all up, plus all of the rice that I couldn't finish from mine. He's not really hard to please, as long as it fills him up, he's good.
pic567.jpg

Chris noticed there was a Lamb Dish on the menu, and he just could not resist. He was a bit worried because it had like pureed beets or something, you can see them in the picture, the red pool. But he was very excited about the Lamb, so he went for it. And he was so glad he did! Pretty sure the white stuff was some sort of risotto or something, it was cheesy. He absolutely LOVED this dish! He said the lamb was absolutely perfect, nice and tender, he was in heaven.
pic568.jpg

And here's an ambiance pic, it's really nice in there
pic569.jpg

And a family pic
pic570.jpg

Oh, let's not forget the Green Apple Margarita I got once we left!
pic571.jpg

We all really liked this meal. I'm so glad we went and gave it a chance ourselves and didn't just rely on other people's reviews.

Sunshine Seasons, snack 8.16.08

Before dinner, my mom wanted to get a snack, so we got on line for a pretzel at a cart.
pic558.jpg

See those two pretzels? Yeah, the person in front of us ordered them both, and they didn't have any more! So what to do? My mom really wanted a pretzel, and we couldn't find another stand! Crazy! So I suggested we go to the Land and see if they had anything there. Once we got down to Sunshine Seasons, I remembered about the free birthday cookie, so my mom went up with her birthday button and got her free chocolate chip cookie. That hit the spot!
pic559.jpg

Adventurer's Club, drinks, 8.16.08

And another bonus review! Me and my mom went to the Adventurer's Club this evening, as we had never been and wanted to go before they closed. Here's our first round of drinks...I got a Kungaloosh and mom got a Samantha's Passion Punch. Good drinks! I'm sad we won't get to have them again!
pic576.jpg

next up: dinner/snack at 50's PTC

We're also going to give San Angel a try for ourselves in December....I'm glad to hear you liked it as it does get so many mixed reviews :thumbsup2

Great reviews again Marsh!! I am going twice next year, and when we all go in September we are doing Tusker House , DD's friend who is also coming with her 2 kids is a huge Mickey fan. I did it when it was Donald's Breakfastsaurus and we liked it . Can't wait to try Tusker House out !!

Despite some previous negative reviews, San Angel Inn actually looks pretty good. I love lamb and that dish your brother had looks really nice.

Shame your Mom didn't get her pretzel but a free birthday cookie can't be a bad alternative ;)

Thanks for another great round of reviews :)
