I'm back! Family trip with DDE, Aug 13-20! Pics included, of course! updated 11/2

great reviews, like the look of the afternoon tea but there is no way my family would travel to the USA and then join me for a traditional English afternoon tea LOL

Thanks for the great reviews. I really want to do a grand tea the next time I go. Hope I can convince DH.

I'm in! I am in WDW now so let me know if there are any yummy things I should try

I'm here! So excited to read another foodie report from the Great Marsh! And I'm excited that I found it early....can't wait for your next report. Yummy so far! I want to do that tea too!

My sister is coming over from St. Pete and we are going to the Afternoon Tea. It has long been on my list. From the looks of your pictures I am sure I am going to love it!

chocolateMinnie, yep you all want to go to McDonald's. :rotfl: I wish I had a nickel for each UK boy or girl who was yearning for that meal but then lots of our kids do too. Go figure. I like Rose & Crown.

Great reviews. :goodvibes

Your brother reminds me of my DS. He would have had the bacon cheeseburger and the fries *both* with BBQ sauce. ;)

Looking forward to reading more. :)

This bit really made me laugh - not because it was particularly funny but I say this all the time and always thought it was a regional saying, from where I'm from in the UK. Seems quite strange to think the phrase is used 'across the water' too :)

Great start to your reviews - the Gardenview Lounge tea doesn't appeal to me at all but maybe that's because we eat things like that here all the time ;)

that's so cute! i love that you say it too!

Chef Mickeys looks great - what is in that Fusion Lemonade?

fusion lemonade had let's see, i have a pic of the ingredients...Skyy Citrus Vodka, Xfusion organic Mango and Passion Fruit Liqueir, and Minute Maid light lemonade. and it was delish!

I just ate lunch and now I'm hungry again  Great start :thumbsup2

thanks!

Marcia, your trip looks amazing. Thanks for sharing.

thanks and you're welcome

haha, yeah, he did that too! he used a fry to spread the bbq sauce on the burger, because then he could eat the "utensil" haha

Excellent:thumbsup2

thank you!

next installment, about to be written up!

Looks like you had a great time so far! Waiting for more!

Main Street Bakery, breakfast, 8.14.08

So this was a morning at MK, and my brother was hungry right away. So I sent him and my mom to the Bakery and I ran ahead for Space Mountain Fastpasses. He of course, had to try the French Toast Loaf, as I had talked it up so much! He felt the need to drown it in the syrup they give you! That's sugar overload for me! And he ordered 2, then could only finish 1! His eyes are bigger than his stomach! So here's the one he had leftover when they met up with me
pic114.jpg

Of course, after finishing up some rides, I had to make my stop to the Bakery as well. And of course, I ordered the French Toast Loaf! I also had my traditional Soymilk, and my mom got some strawberries.
pic126.jpg

Love this place!!! The French Toast Loaf is just so good, I can't even tell you. I make sure to have (at least) one per trip! And Stephen very much enjoyed his as well. See, little brother, I know what I'm talking about :thumbsup2

Tune In Lounge, "snacks", 8.14.08

Ok, so since we had an early dinner (3:40pm) at Mama Melrose, nobody wanted to ruin their appetite with lunch, so we had some liquid snacks instead! This bar is surely my favorite, and I love my bartender, David. Now, I sent my mom and brother ahead of me while I went and grabbed some FP, and told them to sit by David. Wouldn't you know it? I forgot there are 2 Davids!!! But they did pick the right one :thumbsup2 . Side story, but the other David is from Lodi, NJ, my mom's hometown, so we spent some time talking to him too. Both Davids are great, but I have a special place in my heart for my David
pic141.jpg

Oh yeah, this is a "food" review. My mom and I each ordered a Grandma's Picnic Punch - Grandma concocted a wonderful drink for the family picnic with vodka, peach schnapps, creme de cassis, pink lemonade and pineapple juice. They came with blue star glow cubes. We amassed a bunch of these over the week...
pic129.jpg

Stephen ordered a Gentleman's Jack Daniels on the rocks. He wanted to take a shot, but I told him he should get a drink not a shot, so he compromised.
pic131.jpg

We met a really nice couple, Bill and Kathy, from Canada and had a great time talking with them! Bill noticed my mom's bday button, and insisted on buying her one of those Tinkerbell lights. So here it is on her Picnic Punch
pic134.jpg

And we each ordered a second Picnic Punch
pic135.jpg

This place is so much fun! I think I may love the bar part more than the restaurant part...but I can't be sure! David remembers me every time I come in, and he's the best! So if you go to the Tune In Lounge, tell David that Marcia says "hi!". Thanks!

I'm gonna put Mama Melrose in the next post.

Mama Melrose, Fantasmic dinner, 8.14.08

While we were spending time with David, we of course mentioned that we were headed to Mama Melrose for dinner, and he told us we had to order the Bruschetta and Fried Calamari, for him. So, my mom chose the Bruschetta and Stephen chose the Fried Calamari, as those are dishes they would enjoy anyway!
pic144.jpg

pic145.jpg

I tried one of the Calamari, and it was really good. Stephen gave it two thumbs up for sure! And my mom loved her Bruschetta as well. Thanks to David for the wonderful recommendations!

For my appy, I got the Mixed Greens - balsamic vinaigrette and gorgonzola cheese.
pic146.jpg

Yum Yum! What can I say, I'm a salad girl!

They also brought us out bread rolls and olive oil. So for anyone wondering, yes, they are back to bringing out free bread. Excellent.
pic147.jpg

For my main meal, I ordered the Spaghetti Fra Diavolo with clams, calamari, mussels and shrimp, tossed in a spicy Marinara sauce. This was not too spicy at all, and believe me, I'm a wimp when it comes to spicy!
pic148.jpg

This was so good! I ate all of the seafood, but only a little bit of the pasta. It was a nice nutty pasta, possibly whole wheat, I'm not sure, but it had a bite to it. I really liked that. But I gave Stephen my leftovers, since he's an eating machine, and he didn't really like it. Oh well.

Now, I didn't take pics of my family's main meals. Stephen was getting a bit annoyed at the camera at this point, so I eased up a bit. Anyway, my mom ordered the Pork Marsala - pan-seared pork tenderloin with wild mushroom risotto and asparagus topped with Parmigiano-Reggiano and marsala sauce. I had this last time we ate here and loved it, and she did as well. Stephen ordered the Steak. It came with asparagus and some sort of grain, I don't remember, but I don't think it was the polenta that allears menu lists. He likes steak, this steak was fine for him.

Of course, we still had dessert to come, and the waiter surprised my mom with a make your own sundae for her bday!
pic151.jpg

Very cute.

One of them ordered the Cheesecake, and the other the Tiramisu. At least I think that's what these pictures are!
pic152.jpg

pic153.jpg

They said they liked them.

I ordered the Crema Limone - no sugar added lemon custard topped with fresh whipped cream and berries. Same thing I ordered and enjoyed last time we were here.
pic154.jpg

Once again, it was very good. Nice and light, not too heavy after a big meal. The cookie thingy was really good...kinda like a shortbread of some type. And the whipped cream was nice and fresh. Can't go wrong here!

next up: lunch at 50's Prime Time Cafe

thanks for the great reviews! Just wondering....were you able to use the DDE for your afternoon tea? And can you describe the french toast loaf from the main st bakery? Does it have a filling or syrup or some other coating on it?
